I don't get the hate either. I have seen some really frightening and slummy areas in other places and countries. Chard just looks like another quiet quaint village in England. The production could have had a bit more information other than two whole tiny statements in 15 minutes. I get the feeling that the British have had their fill of historical places in their beautiful country? Maybe it's a case of "the grass is always greener on the other side of the hill".....I love hearing the history and if I had time, I could write a term paper on Chard. BTW - I did learn how to pronounce it....a hard "ch" like CHOP.....not "shop". Not a total loss! :)
How old is this chard has changed alot since then Nigel tessa and my self use to cycle past the little house I have forgotten the name we would cycle to a country pub for a drink and soak up the sun with are feet in the little steam or we would cycle on the cycle path all the way to illminster, it's a shame that the shop next to phoenix flat above is rented as it is actually haunted so is other parts of buildings connected to it would of made a lot of money for bringing professional spirit chasers nd even amtures to sadly the place is occupied you must have a lot of time on your hands I did not understand the close up of the tree or under the rough top but it was a nice visit into the past we have not got the bed shop no more you actually had my bed showing through the window it's now Domino's and we have a swimming ect just opening co op is now pound strcherer I love it hear so many good memories thank you for sharing xx

When I went to school there we had two cinemas, & a train station, it was a great place to live then.
aahhh my hometown, lovely NOT! the only thing I like about this place is that all my family and friends live here.
