Cayden, coming from a long time hockey fan, stay focused keep playing the game and I wish you all the best. First step of the mission accomplished, keep taking care of your family.
It is so funny that he has a white mom, black dad, and I certainly wasn't thinking about his race. He grew up doing everything he loved in today's Canada, not the one I grew up in. Yet race comes into the picture 10 seconds in. He is Canadian. I'm proud of him because he represents us all. To get past this, we need to stop separating each other by color. It is no longer helpful, but destructive. I am part native too, so? I'm lots of things.
Mentioning your race doesn’t mean you’re separating yourself from others who have the same nationality, he’s probably proud to be a black native man in the NHL. As a kid when you see somebody who looks like you play a sport you will most likely start being interested yourself. I myself got into hockey because i loved watching pk subban who looks like me play so well and some kid will most likely have the same experience as me when they see cayden on the ice.
As a bi-"racial" man who's played hockey for 30 yrs, trust me, you gotta have thick skin to play hockey. And for this kid to push through and go 4th in the draft on top of that?? Damn! I just don't want him scoring against my PENS - grin -
@@Scott-kp5tj when it's eye rolling stuff like this, I think so yeah. Like declaring that Black and Native are his two cultures and completely omitting Canadian, or saying that he has two people aka Black and Native, again completely omitting Canadian and any other non-racial identifier/grouping, while also to some degree confusing/assimilating someone's ethnic background to their culture, is pretty superficial and race-essentialist.
My brothers used to play with Cayden Lindstrom at school, and now its incredible to see his success. GO CAYDEN GO
Her raising 4 kids alone and for her son to grow up to be a great man is super impressive.
He went as #4 pick overall to Columbus.....best of luck to him and his family!
Awesome story! Gonna be pulling for this kid!

Just wondering…..if a white man said he doesn’t watch basketball because not enough people “look like me”, would it be acceptable?

It does not explain where the Lindstrom comes from...is the runnaway father Nick Lindstrom in Detroit?
Theodore Crossing
Kid you don’t have to represent any race or ethnicity. You just have to be yourself and work hard for your family.
Cremin Plaza
Talks about race in first 11 seconds
and you complain in the first 11 seconds of the video being uploaded. grow up.
