    We need more Sanskrit teachers like you in India who present Sanskrit in a friend to friend style like Krishna to Arjuna, than a nerdy professor to student style.. I see goggled dry Sanskrit academics all over, unfortunately.. All the best Katie..

    Pacific nice perspective. I am a yoga teacher 2nd and 1st a massage therapist and tend to be more on the western side of things. And came to yoga more so to experience the other end. And something I struggle with between taking my 200 hour and even my 300-hour is view limited access to sandscript. And I feel it definitely brings a more energetic and meditative element to your classes when you're using the actual names of postures and the practice rather than just loose English translations or what we've decided to call something. And I've even ask teachers for more information on learning these even when I studied in India and seem to be struggling and I'm now just on my own trying to dive deeper into the full embodiment of yoga between the postures the practices and the language

      Aryan Garg , you are right about her voice. It is very clear. She strikes me as being very educated in the Sanskrit language which does have a deep profound meaning.

    @SanskritForYoga Wow you are really good at what you do. I have a question and I think you can better explain it to me as you are Phd in Sanskrit. My question - Why most of the people, even some Indians also put an extra "a" sound after the words. Even you did it. You did not pronounce it Yog(योग) but YogA (योगा)You know what I mean. If I were teacher I would make people understand what not right. Please do not take it personal. I am just sharing with you what I have learned in my school in North India.

      Yogesh Saini
      Yogesh,
      First rule of Sanskrit (taught to me in 6th grade) is that the last letter of any word is not emphasized.
      So, when you say योग you pronounce it not as in Hindi (Yog) but as Yoga with an "a" at the end. If you have to say योग (Yog) as in Hindi, you would write योग्, with a small dash at below the letter ग. That little dash is called a "हलन्त" (halanth) or " विराम".
      Hope I have answered your question.

    It may appear to be 'nonsence' at first glance, but if you open to the experience and actually try it, I think you will find it is definitely not nonsense. : )

    "Recaptures the prana"? Really? I think if you sat and chanted any bunch of syllables in a group in synchrony with everyone else, focused on the repetition, and basically hyperventilating the entire time, by the end of it you'd likely feel the same as if chanting sanskrit. A good little project would be to get a group of people and get them to chant both gobbledygook randomised syllables and say it's a tantric sequence of bija mantras, say like the satcakrakrama of all the petals and then other text like I dunno the rudram. Or even a kirtan, but make it up and compare it to an actual kirtan. One could compare chanting with other languages as well and during the sessions test for BP, heart rate, etc and prior and post qualitative data collection on perceived moods etc. This would be quite interesting to do.
    You literally said at the beginning you'd spend 8 hrs a day pulling hair out over dictionaries and end the clip by saying the meaning just arises... you don't need a dictionary. I'm confused, which one is it? Or are you saying that the scholarly approach is less efficient than the bhakti marga? If yes, then how to explain all the aspiring sanskrit yoga teachers who regularly butcher the language in their intro to sanskrit term videos or blogs, especially in relation to the meanings of words. Are they not chanting enough or properly? How is sanskrit more scientific than any other language? It's just one of 1400 or so indo-European languages. What exactly is so special about it and how can this be qualified beyond unverifiable opinion? There are many languages that use abugida scripts and the same points of articulation. The devanagari script is not that old as well. And builds off of brahmi but had types of nagari script emerge. Its completely arbitrary why this script was chosen and resulted partly due to colonial influence to make a standard. The divinisation of (deva)nagari is a late innovation too. Anyways. Be well.

    Tat svam asi (Thou art That)....the only beauty that is applicable here. I see the beautiful woman as well, but try to look past that to her shining soul, which is where the true beauty lies. The other beauty is for her husband alone...

    This is utter nonsence. One language is no different or more spiritual than another. To say that speaking one is more "draining" than another is riddiculous.

    • @2sridhark
      @2sridhark 8 лет назад +3

      Language is spiritual if you make it so.
      If you use a lot of "f" words while speaking English, are u making it spiritual?
      BTW, there is no "f" word in Sanskrit!
