I haven't done retail since college and that was more luxury goods so we never had to count inventories as it would be obvious that if the computer said we had 2, but we only have 1, then there was a major issue or theft that happened along the way. I worked my butt off like crazy, brought a huge smile to work every day, had an insanely positive attitude, and still got treated like human trash the 2 years I worked at Target. Right before I quit they gave me an 11 CENT “raise,” and told me not to worry because that was average. They said I was AVERAGE. Former trainer, proudly no longer working with Target.
Felt this. I worked there for a few yrs as well, and my coworkers were good, and management was fine enough considering its retail. Just they were super passive-aggressive, and the job was unbearable with the physical workload sometimes. Also, the constant changing amount of hours. The bullshit 10 cent raises as well no matter how well you worked. What made me quit was when I called out one time that year, I got a "conversation" about it. It kind of triggered me seeing her so happy and doing this. Most people I knew who been there more than a couple of months were not happy and drained to hell. And greatly neglected.

And the most important thing, DO NOT USE A FULFILLMENT CART (the red one seen in the video). They are assigned to specific sections and staff, and are their responsibility. It appears you used one found in the beauty section? That is not your cart, and is essential for our staff fulfilling online orders and knowing what orders have been completed. I'm hoping you didn't remove what was already left in the cart. If you would like to volunteer help, please let our managers know on the day. I'm sure they will oblige.

She was pushing a drive up / pick up fulfillment cart with stuff in it so she probably took it and put back someone order that the employees have to fill in 45 minutes or less.. and it’s during the holidays..

I just remember going to work being exhausted and in physical and mental pain and it feels like mockery “best day ever!” While doing no research beforehand and “stocking” things that were picked for peoples orders, and she probably stocked things in the wrong places too, everything has a very specific place and you can’t overstock in certain areas. Sadly, if they did see it they might pick the video apart. It depends on the company though. If it was Walmart they would try to say she was making them look bad. Or they could claim she made the mess to defame them. Security would get fired for not noticing her "trespassing", I swear the list goes on and on. Bigger companies always try to find fault in someone else's good deeds. As I said Walmart especially, I'm not sure about Target specifically. I had the misfortune of having to work for Walmart. And the number of illegal things they did/ tried to force me to do. I can assure you I couldn't have gotten out of there any faster!

Former Beauty Target Member here- i highly do not recommend stocking items. That WILL mess up their inventory count, and cause more problems down the road than you would think.

Exactly. At stores we have to check how many of each items are put on the shelves to make sure they were actually stocked on the shelves and not just stolen off those carts.
Just an fyi target doesn’t call them customers, they’re called “guests” It was mandatory, if you called them customers you would get corrected immediately by management.
Actually worked there and my feet would hurt so badly from being overworked not allowed to sit down. Nice to see someone actually making things a little better. But don’t mess with the 2 tier carts or the cart with the tags to scan. those items are picked out for peoples orders and you could get someone in big trouble for messing up a pick up or shipping order.

i worked at target and they’re so strict it’s surprising no managers have freaked out on you yet. especially if they noticed you hadn’t taken a 15 or a 30 for lunch (had they thought you worked there). they would be on other peoples assesssss about going into compliance
well since she wasn’t on the schedule for 8 hours no one was going to yell at her over breaks. my store if you’re on the floor they just expect you to be responsible enough to manage your own breaks at your own times & freak out 5 minutes before you hit compliance if you’re not clocked out for lunch yet

Everyone saying “how sweet and wholesome!” has never worked a retail job. This is at best annoying and at worst actively sabotaging the work of employees who are there to pay their bills. If you wanna cosplay a working class person (only way happier, because you’ll never actually have to grind there 5 days a week to survive), by all means, put in an application and go through the process. Don’t just hop in, that actively makes other peoples’ lives harder. Then customers get upset with the actual employees, because they’re doing actual work- not just sweetly leading customers to individual items and giving them free gift cards.

My local Target is understaffed and if people go in there and do this, it only helps the corporation justify they don't need more employees or that the employees don't need more hours to get the work done. I've never worked at at Target but did work in a department store and someone doing this would have been stopped by management so quickly because you could easily become a liability.

I used to work at target. The cart you found and started stocking looks similar to the carts they used to grab customer's orders. If you put them away you could have really messed things up. You said someone else was stocking it with you so I'm sure it was fine. If you're going to do this, I would find someone that works/worked for the companies and ask them how things work so you don't mess things up while trying to help
If the cart was just sitting there... it's most likely not a cart used by store shoppers. They're usually on strict timelines and don't usually wander too far from the carts (if they even leave the cart at all). That was in fact most likely a stock cart that was waiting for someone who was on lunch. You gotta leave product on your cart otherwise other employees jack them for their own use. 😅
We got rid of those tubs (we called it those) in two stores I've been at years ago. I'm surprised Targets still have them. Thought it was mandatory for them to be gone lol.

Tbh as a retail worker, PSA do not stock the items you see bc some places have to scan each unit before placing them on the shelves so that way they’re in the system. It can sometimes make our jobs harder if you help😅

I just remember going to work being exhausted and in physical and mental pain and it feels like mockery “best day ever!” While doing no research beforehand and “stocking” things that were picked for peoples orders, and she probably stocked things in the wrong places too, everything has a very specific place and you can’t overstock in certain areas. What if they were recalled, picked for a guest, expired etc or meant to put in the back or a different place? It’s kinda bad now that I’m remembering this…

Sadly, if they did see it they might pick the video apart. It depends on the company though. If it was Walmart they would try to say she was making them look bad. i worked at target and they’re so strict it’s surprising no managers have freaked out on you yet. especially if they noticed you hadn’t taken a 15 or a 30 for lunch (had they thought you worked there). they would be on other peoples assesssss about going into compliance
well since she wasn’t on the schedule for 8 hours no one was going to yell at her over breaks. my store if you’re on the floor they just expect you to be responsible enough to manage your own breaks at your own times & freak out 5 minutes before you hit compliance if you’re not clocked out for lunch yet

Everyone saying “how sweet and wholesome!” has never worked a retail job. This is at best annoying and at worst actively sabotaging the work of employees who are there to pay their bills. If you wanna cosplay a working class person (only way happier, because you’ll never actually have to grind there 5 days a week to survive), by all means, put in an application and go through the process. Don’t just hop in, that actively makes other peoples’ lives harder. Then customers get upset with the actual employees, because they’re doing actual work- not just sweetly leading customers to individual items and giving them free gift cards.

My local Target is understaffed and if people go in there and do this, it only helps the corporation justify they don't need more employees or that the employees don't need more hours to get the work done. I've never worked at at Target but did work in a department store and someone doing this would have been stopped by management so quickly because you could easily become a liability.

I used to work at target. The cart you found and started stocking looks similar to the carts they used to grab customer's orders. If you put them away you could have really messed things up. You said someone else was stocking it with you so I'm sure it was fine. If you're going to do this, I would find someone that works/worked for the companies and ask them how things work so you don't mess things up while trying to help

If the cart was just sitting there... it's most likely not a cart used by store shoppers. They're usually on strict timelines and don't usually wander too far from the carts (if they even leave the cart at all). That was in fact most likely a stock cart that was waiting for someone who was on lunch. You gotta leave product on your cart otherwise other employees jack them for their own use. 😅
We got rid of those tubs (we called it those) in two stores I've been at years ago. I'm surprised Targets still have them. Thought it was mandatory for them to be gone lol.
