  • Brian's 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK X developed a misfire issue. Searching the internet revealed a wide array of possible causes and solutions. Keeping it simple, I started with the basics and found the problem fairly quickly.
On to the next issue........clutch pedal

Sometimes it's difficult to diagnose. I always start with simple and cheap first.

How did you figure that out? Did you just end up pulling the head off after screwing with it for so long? Or did something lead you to believe that?

You need to hook up the hose from the right valve cover to the intake, it is sucking up dirt into the engine, this will mess with your fuel system and also ruin your engine

Not sure what you were looking at but all hoses were connected properly. Thanks for watching.

What year and model Jeep do you have and what exactly is is doing?

I am in the same jeep I swear. Ironically it all is happening at the same time as my thermostat failed. Again. 3rd in three years. Now coolant leak at the upper hose attached to the radiator. 303 code. 2181 code. 128 code. 203 code. FU code...Plugs and coils replaced. Still throwing a temper and misfiring. I have considered plugging the radiator up with some C-4 at this point. It would be cheaper.

      LOL
The 203 and 303 codes lead me to think you are having an issue with the injector circuit for Cylinder 3. It could be faulty wiring or a bad injector. Especially since you have replaced the plug and coil. Replacing the injector is quicker and easier than trying to figure out a wiring issue so I would start with that and hope for the best. :- ) If it's a wiring issue, I would probably find a competent mechanic.
I don't know why a thermostat would fail that quickly. I always use quality parts such as Stant, Gates or the Mopar replacement.
Don't resort to C4 just yet, but keep it as "Plan B". ;- )

If you have code P0303, the rocker arm could have fallen off. Common in Jeeps. Replace the lifter and rocker arm. Easy to do, but a pain to get to.

You are correct. It is the 3.8. This is a 2008 Wrangler JK.
