"G'Day ladies and gents welcome back to cold waters with Magz" As soon as i heard those words i knew today was a good day. Welcome back mate hope you are doing alright was getting worried for a sec. As always take it easy man have a good day.
Not quite Barry White Magz anymore, but good to see you putting a fresh video up. Edit: Petition to name the Chilikin "Kamchatka". In honour of the ship of the same name that made the voyage of the Second Pacific Squadron so... interesting.
Oh, darn. Sorry to hear you've gone through all that Magz, hope you'll recover as fast as Max Verstappen races. If you need more time on videos, then take that time, we'll be here brother! 💪🏻🫡
My back is an issue, that will take some time to sort out if it can ever be sorted out. The illness I have had, well as you can hear I am still recovering but I'm good enough to be able to get back to doing videos at least a couple of times a week. Maybe even a stream though I'm not sure how long my voice will hold out over a few hours.
Good to hear you again Magz. Those Novembers should never have been allowed near Holy Loch. I would have expected a friendly vessel to be patrolling the area. The Seal team insertion brought back memories of performing the F-117 missions in Jane's ATF. Spend a lot of time watching and hoping no one notices you.
Glad to see you are alive and on the mend, you are a fine example for any Aussie of taking it on the chin and still smiling......make a good Kiwi you would... sorry mate couldnt resist, hang in there
I am glad you are getting much better! You were missed by many of us, A wise Asian man once said to me as I was going into battle in Vietnam, quitting while one is ahead, is not the same as quitting. I felt led to tell you this. Never giving up in life, no matter what happens to us gives strength to those around us. And it sustains our very destiny in life. To be an example is better than being made an example of. Get well my soon brother.
I have made this comment several times, but will continue to make it... I watch you for your Quality, not your quantity... folks like you are a rare breed in this day in age, every video you make is a breathe of fresh air. Take as much time as you need, I will be here patiently awaiting your next vidya. We are both mortals, so I can respect the fact that you can fall victims to mortals illness; and hope you get better.
Cheers for the upload been looking forward to this and Magz take care of your self mate I know personally from living with severe chronic pain (last 15 yrs) it takes time to learn how to live and deal with constant pain. TLDR I'll be sticking around even if you release a vid once in a blue moon.
@28:25 And here we have the Russian fleet in its natural environment. As you can see they do love the sand as well as the sea, but the sand is what they like the most.
@41:00 Looks like you are near Kjøpsvik. Those SF soldiers are going to have a very long and steep walk to Narvik. Btw, what happends if a moss is fired over a minefield?
Definitely an accurate representation of Russian naval prowess. November's trying to do a Sierra's job, drunk piloting of surface ships, and itchy trigger fingers blind firing at ghosts.
Damn, sorry to hear that. I hope you get better soon, I wish you all the best & we submariners are a tough plant, you'll be up and running soon, you'll see, just don't let all the crap don't pull you down. keep fighting!
Hey Magz.. I'm glad your back. Please take your time in your recovery. I'm still trying to re-learn to use my left hand and walking with my foot. I'm looking at a year for my recovery if things works out. Be safe and get well. Thanks for the video.
Sad to hear you were unwell! Hoping you can recover in time! I've just finished my 140th hour of Cold Waters with DotMod 0.4, trying different campaigns with both subs and surface vessels. I've found I can't survive in elite difficulty with any vessel, and realistic is too much still with older subs. Surface vessels, so far I can only survive well in a Ticonderoga CG but with the time to repair and rearm, I end up missing missions and ithink the campaign is stuck in a stalemate. Otherwise, I bow down to your better skills and still greatly enjoy your gameplay!
This and U-Boat have some of the best looking water modelled in a game out there, at least in my opinion. It is kind of a minor thing that doesn't really have an effect on gameplay, but I find it pretty impressive nonetheless. I remember in the old days where you could see a fairly obvious repetition in the surface patterns just in the first person view that would become blatantly obvious if you zoomed out even a little. I'm sure you can see one even in this and U-Boat if you look hard enough, but it's not out there screaming in your face as it used to be. And I'd make a comment about the Russian ships beaching themselves, but our Navy here in the US hasn't exactly been bathing themselves in glory when it comes to seamanship above or below the surface as of late. As for that later hit, I think the tender was just doing his buddy a solid and helping to de-beach that destroyer. :-D
Well, i think we got sick about the same time just about.. i just went to my 6 week mri checkup recently.. after spending 8 days in hospital from several big infections spreading from a tear in my small intestine.. 8 days on antibiotics intravenously, the biggest infectule was the size of an orange and lodged behind my left kidney.. i was declared healthy over a month ago but i still dont feel quite back to normal yet.. it just takes what time it takes i figure..
The Russian Navy is the only navy in the world that has successfully managed to sink their own flagship while in drydock. . . then also sink the drydock. Brutal yes, but not incorrect :)
You would be surprised; naval mines do make noise after all they are simply anchored to the ocean floor with a heavy chain or metal tether and the tides and motions of the ocean such as the rise and fall of the tides will move the mines around on the teachers generating noise. The Submarine would need to be going slow to hear this of course but it's totally reasonable that at a slow speed running silent that the mines could be heard before hitting them. In addition to that almost all modern submarines are equipped with a short-range ultrasonic sonar for navigation, it's the same system that tells you how far you are from the ocean floor without requiring you to ping the ocean floor with active sonar. Well, that same system on modern subs also has limited forward look capability for navigating underwater ridgelines and trenches, that system will absolutely see the mines at very short ranges. So, there is more than one way for a modern submarine to see a naval mine without needing to actively ping for them, it's not like the 1940's when mines where essentially invisible and deadly to a submerged submarine.
@@Cdodders27 This is true but not something that we have to worry about in this campaign, Quickstrikes didnt enter service with the US military intil 1983 and the Russians didnt have an equivalent until some time after the late 80s, this campaign is based in 84-85 so the sweet spot in the middle.
Never played this game. Anybody know why he didn't just let the subs in the first encounter keep going away if he needed to save the torpedoes? It seemed like he could have escaped the first encounter altogether.

Sounds like a countdown to the fade

Ouch Magz, that shade on the skills of the Russian navy is brutal....

Brutal yes, but not incorrect :)
@@MagzGTV I never said you were wrong.... ;)
i wonder if you landed a torpedo at the point where the two ships touched if you could sink both of them in one shot
Two subs right out of Holy Loch? Someones getting fired today...
EDIT: I think. A *lot* of people are getting fired today
Can subs actually detect mines on passive sonar? I would think on active they might, but just using passive sensors it seems pretty unlikely to me.
