Thanks for the mochi idea!! I was trying to think of a sticky substance to use for this.
Our cat currently is having an antibiotic so no cheese (our usual method of giving her daily pills.) We mold the (cheddar) cheese around the pill as you did before removing the extra to place the mochi/pill in the volcano. The cat(s) loves the cheese and takes it readily right out of our hands; it's a big treat. Sometimes we even have to pick up the pill crumbs off of the cutting board with the cheese and she still takes it, she is normally the pickiest of all of the cats we've ever had. I will make some plain mochi (although the cats probably like the sweet store bought variety) and mash some Cat Temptations, or canned food, or tuna and mix it into it, maybe sugar. Or maybe make it with the drained tuna water...
I like to volcano idea, with only a little bit of food, then give her some more later if she wants it.
I bet if you just squeezed it in your fingers (like Play Dough) it would make it pliable enough to mold around the pill without wasting any from getting hard in the microwave.

I’m so glad the mochi could help out as an alternative sticky substance to cheese. (such a great idea to use cheese!) I like all the tasty extras you’ve thought to add!! Glad the volcano helped out as well. ☺️ True, it may have become pliable if squished. Then again I probably ate that hard bit with some soy sauce later. 😍 Thanks for letting me know you’re trying it out. Sending lots of healing love to your cat. 🙏❤️✨✨✨

@@heartofyoshi LOL; I would probably eat the hard mochi myself too.

@@Sundial1k hahahaa - the Japanese snack senbei/rice cracker is pretty much hard mochi. 🥰 I used to put mochi in the toaster oven and it would inflate and then get crunchy. 😁

      @@heartofyoshi Nice; lol...
I thought I'd let you know of another "pill pocket" idea. My cat had a stroke recently, so she is on even more medicine. She did not like her favorite cheese anymore, and wasn't going for the mochi either, so I cut small pieces of raw chicken (they ALL love it,) made a slice part-way into the middle of the chicken and slipped the pills inside. She gobbled them up.

@@Sundial1k - Thank you for the update, I am soooo sorry that your cat had a stroke. Did it affect some limb movement like it has done to people? (You don't have to share, just know I'm sending lots of love. 🙏💕✨) Oh, wow, putting a little slice in chicken... brilliant!! I'm glad it is working out!!! yay!

thank you so much for this brilliant idea. our cat will not eat any of the pill pocket type treats, so we were using pill pusher which was so stressful. we tried this today with korean rice cake and it worked on both our cats. really hoping that it continues this way. thanks again for your vid.

So inspiring to hear how the technique worked for both your cats. Awesome! Korean rice cake, nice! You're so welcome and Thank You for letting me know that it worked. Watching the video again I was remembering the earlier trials where I got some of the pill scent on the outside of the pocket and my cat was like, "what are you trying to do?" as he ignored and ate the food around it. or the earlier, earlier days where they said you can just hold his mouth open and shoot the pill down with some water. Not fun. heehee :D

I've now got my Mochi from amazon... Clearspring Organic Japanese Brown Rice Mochi it is, so can carry out the experiment. It's come in 6 pieces wrapped in plastic ans appears rock hard. Can I freeze this into smaller amounts? Expiry date is May 2003. I may add some tuna to the Mochi or the juice. Thanks so much for your super video and I like your style very much, clear and down to Earth. Super :)

Yayyyyyy!! The mochi arrived!!! I’m so happy to hear that!! Yeah, when i did my mochi, i cut up it up into smaller pieces and froze them. (freezer ziplock bag within another freezer ziplock) Be super careful as you cut it, i think i had to rock the knife like a see-saw to slowly make a crease into it first to cut it.
I hope the expiry is a typo, and was meant to be 2023 and not 2003. If it’s 2003 i would return it for a refund! :) Thank you for the reflections of the video i really appreciate it. It’s super cool to see how this video has the most views compared to my other videos. heehee

TFS! I'm looking for solutions for giving flea meds to a feral cat colony I've been caring for. (All TNRed.) I'm not sure this will work for the larger flea meds I give them, but I think I'm going to give it a try. Much easier than anything I've seen so far.

You’re so welcome. 💖 First off, my gosh, it touches my heart what you are doing. I just read up on what “TNRed” means and wow, what you are doing is profound and full of so much love for the cats. So, I thank you and I know these cats are so grateful for your efforts, love, investment, and caring. I really hope this method can help and glad it is providing a possible easier solution. Keep me posted on how it works. It’s profound knowing that in some way, I am helping this cat colony. Thank you for posting your comment. I am sending loving cuddles to all the cat colony. 🙏💕✨✨

We usually (for most cats but some are picky) mix it into some canned food and give each one their own serving/one plate (or blob) per cat. Separate the cats when administering if you can, so you make sure each one gets some and somebody doesn't get two (or more)...

My ZuZu is 23 so her teeth r bad (no infections), too old to go under anesthesia for a cleaning but my new vet somehow was able to pick off built up tarter/plaque that was irritating her gum line! She eats dry again!
