I'm guessing its fake. OP says Derrick still wasn't sure about having a family, so I would assume that they'd be using birth control, probably multiple types, and yet she somehow still ended up pregnant? She even says he "did all the right things" regarding her pregnancy, only that he started working late and missed a few therapy sessions for work. He only bailed after she broke up with him. Of course he would bail! He already knows OP family was treating him horribly (whether deserved or not) and now OP didn't want him there either. Why would he stick around and fight for visitation for a kid he didn't want knowing he'd forever be attached to a family that hated him?
