Finally!! A drama where the ML is not violent/abusive/controlling/dismissive towards the FL. This kind of plot/story is what I like. There is so much garbage out there that is unwatchable. I hope I find more dramas like this one.

I saw them wearing this chain in a couple of dramas. I had no idea there were that many jewish actors in chinese dramas
Not sure how many Chinese Jewish actors there are currently, but I would wager not very many as there's only about 3,000 "officially recorded" Jews that are on the census files. There are efforts being made throughout many cities to reconnect with their Jewish Ancestry, especially for those who have 1 of the known surnames that were given to some Jewish families by various Emperors over the past 1000 or so years. Ironically whilst the rest of the world was persecuting, torturing, or forcing conversions on Jews, China was the safest place in the world for us. China has a long and vibrant history with the Jewish people; they were 1 of the 3 or 4 religions that were allowed to stay and thrive in China during the time with the Ming/Qing Dynasties banned Christians.
Growing up I was raised in both Confucianism and Judaism, and though there are some differences of course, at its core the 2 cultures are also very much alike in their values, teachings, and beliefs. I could go into more but I don't want to bog folks down with an ex-teacher's History Lesson, so I'll leave things be. However, if anyone is interested in knowing about the history of Jews in China either starting at the long gone past, or learning about the current history of Chinese Jews ... or learning about all of it ... there's a lot of great sites you can find out there. I do know I've seen the Magen David (AKA Star of David) on 1 or 2 other shows, though not as a plot device as in this one, they were just wearing it on a pin/necklace but whether or not the actors are/aren't Jewish I honestly don't know. Wouldn't surprise me though as it's the younger generations (Y and Z) who are mainly reconnecting with their Jewish heritage.

Anyway, I don't think it's actually ever said that anyone was Jewish in the show, so yeah I'm gonna stick to the basis that it's probably just used as a plot device as it's a unique looking piece of jewellery. Not because it's a Star of David, but more in that I can't think of anyone I know that would wear a Star of that size/what appears to be heaviness (though it more than likely just a cheap costume piece and isn't heavy at all). I personally own about 5 Stars and they are nothing like that (but I'm a girl so naturally it wouldn't), but even amongst my male family members none of them would wear such a big Star, it just looks too gaudy. So yeah, I'm gonna go with it's a plot device due to it's uniqueness, but if the actor/director/whoever chose to use it because they're Jewish that'd be pretty cool as well! :)
