Indeed. Although it has been a while since he left Focus (1976) to continue his solo career; Focus will always miss his talent. In 1985 a 'reunion was expected but unfortunately was not successful. Since that time, I got used to the idea that we won't see Jan Akkerman playing with Focus anymore.
Have you seen Jan Akkerman live lately...? case not i can tell you it's better to have some great talent like Menno Gootjes playing guitar instead of Akkerman. Furthermore there's onlyone person to blame for the fact that he's no longer playing in this band.... ;)
@Tony van der Gaag and @Peter Bayle : Jan Akkerman is potentially one of the greatest guitarists to grace this earth, but also one of the most erratic performers ever. He can be SO sloppy in person..............
Could be. It was indeed a very emotional tour with lots of mixed feelings. This was the first time that I saw them performing live and I think it was a great performance. Rgds!.
Yeah, I saw them shortly after this, and they Rocked. Manno Gootches is a great player, and Van Der Linden played 2 fantastically tasty drum solo' s. One of the most enjoyable Gigs, musically speaking, I've ever experienced. Very funny and friendly guys to talk with after. More power to them. 🎹🎶🥁🎶🎸🎶👌💜

For such a supremely sensitive group on record, they make a rather insensitive and blustering live act.
