Josh and maya was really cute but I feel like if disney wanted them to work fr in the long run they should’ve shortened their age gap😭 3 years sound short in perspective of a young mind but it’s also HUGE when you’re a teenager
Maya was the redeeming character of GMW, the show was mostly a let down because Disney Channel never let the spin-off deal with adult topics the way that BMW did. But Maya and Lucas were a much better couple and they jumped ship and ruined them in the 11th hour because they had it in their mind that Cory and Topanga’s daughter couldn’t lose the love interest
Right! Mr. Feeny, Corey’s parents, even the teachers had MASSIVE adult lessons for the kids of the show. I truly miss what BMW was for my generation and I wish kids today had something like it….maybe they do? IDK.
Just like BMW, I watched GMW for Shawn 😂 I loved that they actually did delve deeper into his trauma and gave him a happy ending. Like, I was going to write that they delved deeper into his trauma "through his connection with Maya"... but nah, it was a good jumping off point but it went way beyond that. They went so far as to bring in Angela and Mr. Turner to give him closure.
Josh and Maya are perfect for each other. Lucas and Maya aren't because she is constantly mean to him. She admitted the only reason she thought she liked Lucas was because Riley likes him. Maya admitted to Josh that she doesn't like Lucas the way that Riley does. She admits that it Josh that she likes
They are actually only 3 years apart. Also Josh never actually tells Maya to wait or that he will wait just that Hypnotically " Someday " after she done doing her thing and he has done his thing.
Eh, I think the opinion was a bit over the top. You literally saw in the video as far as Josh ever went in encouraging Maya. And I didn't take it the same way when he said he had to stop treating her like a kid... there is a middle ground between kid and sexual being, it's respecting a person as an autonomous being. He was saying he had to stop treating her like she was a brat and acknowledge she was a person worth knowing. I dunno. I guess I just have a different experience. Literally when I was like four I had the biggest obsession with my babysitter's teenage son. He was always very nice about it, the way Josh is with Maya. I have a very clear memory of this highschooler bringing his girlfriend home one day and being livid 😅 Derek took the time to come talk to me separately and told me that I was his special girl but if he could have another girlfriend then I could have a boyfriend. At the time, I was mollified because I did like a kid in my class 😅 but I still felt a sense of belonging with this person I adored... but then as I matured it stuck with me how caring he was with this little kid who constantly followed him around. You don't have to stomp on people's feelings to be responsible. I don't see anything wrong with saying "we'll see" to a hypothetical farflung future as part of a conversation about how you will both be living seperate lives. He literally said they'd be doing their own things, nothing at all about waiting for her let alone, like, marking days off calendars until she was legal. That would absolutely be creepy, but this wasn't that. He never even went out of his way to seek her out or spend time one on one.
I think my reaction and opinion were fair on the first reading of ages and the article writers’ thoughts. Article made it seem like he was dropping little “I’ll be waiting until it’s legal” hints but if that’s wrong then darn it. In today’s age - I think it’s just safer to err on the side of “no” and “bad” when it comes to all things questionable. Glad to hear your take and experience on it though!
@@ToddReactsI meant the article's opinion was over the top 😉 I mean, the first clue is that they couldn't even get the age difference right when it was said over and over in the show. They weren't good with what was actually said, forget about adding nuance and context.
I cant ever like the potential for them to be a couple due to their age gap and where they were in their lives. 3 years is not a big deal when your in your 20s however Maya was only a freshman in college and is at most 15 by S3 and Josh was his first year of university, thats a huge life gap. Her having a crush was fine but I dont think disney should have ever had Josh say he likes her and insinuate that when she was older they could date. If Josh had been some random guy and not Corey's brother I think people would have found it alot creepier. However I did love the show and Mayas character was my favourite.
I have always loved Maya and Josh together they are very cute and he’s they’re playing the long game but I truly believe that they have always stayed in contact and since Mayas always visited Riley and Josh is coming to see his family but he’s actually wants to see Maya and they are each other’s true love and each other’s future husband and wife Ive always believe in my heart that Josh and Maya made it official forever and always. There needs to be a tv show about Josh and Maya to show us what they have been doing while playing the long game and I want to see their wedding and kids on tv so bad. I have hope for Josh and Maya
I liked Josh and Maya they were cute but I love Lucas and Maya more their chemistry, sweet and funny moment where so amazing it was a stupid plot to make the reason for Maya liking Lucas was only because of Riley and that she was becoming her it really disappointed me like even Lucas liked her but all the sudden it was like he didn’t and I watched till last episode but my interest stopped in the episode when they made that annoying plot for Maya. If I was able to choose who ends up with who I would put Lucas and Maya together and Riley can become a strong single woman she didn’t need to be in a relationship just because she is the main character.
They ruined Lucaya for me because they were saying that Maya likes Lucas becuase Riley likes him. They were saying that Maya likes what Riley likes and trying to "become Riley" to protect Riley. I was like make that make sense to me, GMW🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🙄🙄🙄 Lucaya was cute in their own way but no, they had to change it so that Maya was just liking Lucas for her friend. Terrible ending to Lucaya and trying to make Josh and Maya endgame in the long run🤢🤢
My belief is that lucaya was clearly endgame and the next season was gonna show that stopping maya’s growth was doing mora damage than good. Lucas too, with Riley he felt like he NEEDED to be perfect rather than himself or accept his past. And with what they did with Farkle and Riley when she failed spanish, having him be the one to get to her over Maya or Lucas or even her family, i’m also sure they were heading there. The show got canceled before they could really explore the long terms effects of some of those decisions that the characters clearly didn’t feel comfortable with.
Mind you this is a ship between a Hs freshman and a COLLEGE freshman that ppl kept saying “just wait for him until you are 18!” As if that was normal. Please react to better ships, its insane this was a thing disney of all things was encouraging, especially the ADULTS of the show.
I don’t think the 3 year age gap is bad at all. I think it’s only wrong because of Maya still being in high-school whilst Josh is moving on into adult life. My mum and dad are actually 14 years apart and you’d never know. It all just depends on maturity and what stage the people are at in their life. If Josh and maya did eventually end up together when she left high-school and was an adult herself it wouldn’t be considered bad at all would it? Disney should have planned it out a little better. But the age gap is 3 years not 5 years the way the website you read from made it seem 👏🏻
Certainly, like I said if she wasn’t underage it wouldn’t have been weird at all. 3 years is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Having it be this young? Definitely leaning to the gross side of things. As I was editing I realized what the website put originally as their starting ages and the “only 2 years apart for 6 months” didn’t line up 🤣

Agreed.
Yep like 13 and 16 have very different mindset

Right - his character should have never joined in on it at all. I was clearly uncomfortable even reading it…
3 year age gap in general isn't that bad. but hs freshman and college freshman is weird 😭
Right. Later on in life it’s not even worth mentioning.
