      Crown him the Lord of love! behold his hands and side, those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified; *No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight*

      Crown him the Lord of love might need a softer registration not just a sequence of increasing volume as you work through the hymn. How are you timing the space between verses?

    I went to a S.D.A. boarding school during high school, and we had a forty (40) member choir. The choir often sang this hymn when the students were being ushered out after the service, and boy that choir would really belt out this song with "fortissimo" and make those old rafters ring. What a joy those hymns were. Doctor George Whitehead (San Pasqual Academy Class of 1963)

    Rob your beautiful playing of this hymn reminds me of a situation I once was in and the awsome way The Lord ministered to me and also used others to do the same. I really grew in The Lord during that time and have had opportunity to minister to others in the same way that I was ministered to.

I love the different tones when you pull out various stops! Also, I think it is brilliant for the cameras to show your hands AND feet--and it is fascinating to watch. The two Easter hymns are my favorites from childhood: Jesus Christ is Ris'n Today and Crown Him With Many Crowns: such glorious chords and spirited playing! Thank you from Seattle, Washington, U.S.

    I’ve always been accustomed to playing it [as I first learnt it] one full note higher [E], which I’ve always found a bit high so I’ve got into the habit of going down ½ a note to E♭maj., (or D♯ maj.) but I’ve never thought to play it in D.
    Simple enough, I suppose, but I’d just transpose down on the fly if I had to, as I’ve never actually played it in D, but it looks simple enough. But I’ve never seen it written in D. I’ve never played it in D. Well, until about 3 minutes ago, on my piano. Live & learn …

    • @wurlitzer895
      @wurlitzer895 2 года назад

      Just read this and was amused by the idea of playing anything in D# Major, rather than its enharmonic equivalent of Eb Major, If you wanted to write in D# Major, you'd be faced with a key signature of 9 sharps....aaaarggghhhhh

    Hi Rob. Very nice hymn, but I prefer it in the key of E-flat. I think the usual D is too dull and brittle sounding for this hymn. E-flat just fits this one better I think and the words sound better to it than D.

    Wait. What? I see some kind of keys that you're playing with your feet. They don't look like the pedals from a piano. I see you going all over the place. How do you do that? I guess knowing the piano isn't enough to play the organ. 😣 I love this performance. Which is the original organ by the way. I see organs that have 2 levels and others that have 6.
