Thank you for taking us on this journey with you, John. "This will be a test of your joyful confidence in God." You can add my family's names to the list with Chuck and Nancy. We will always love you!
I drove 1 hour to hear your sermon for years. I will also tell you, that those of us who knew you, the authentic you, knew you were/are a spiritual leader and servant. The rest was just the noise of gossip and false allegations, as the deviled campaigned for attention. The truth outs. You are TRUTH and one of the finest people/Pastors I know. Your character is made of steel with the Armour of God. 🙏
Man, this message is spot on. I knew John Ortberg as well. The man who sat across the coffee table from someone as unimportant as myself is the same man who you experienced; and the same one you see before you now. We must not be discouraged by those who live in the darkness. For we have seen the end of the story. And we know who wins. Jesus. And those who humbly serve Him, our king. I thank the Lord every day for people like John Ortberg.
John, my withered hand is the fact that I was paralyzed in a riding accident some 8 years ago. I am very sad every day still, bitter and resentful. Your current journey sounds as challenging as is mine. Please know how inspired I am by this journey through the ashes we are sharing together now. Many believe you, I do. I did before you said anything. Maybe God sent you this challenge to help people like me. It’s working.
Thank you for sharing this, Karen, and may you continue to grow in love, joy, peace, and the full fruit of the Spirit as you faithfully endure by His power at work within you.
John your books have touched me so deeply. An just recently I have started watching/listening to your sermons. I’m thinking I may need to go back to AA. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. His will carry me through.
This needs to be off RUclips. It’s old news with FALSE ACCUSATIONS you DID NOT DESERVE. You are a GODLY MAN. I witnessed your character for decades, as did thousands of others. 🏆🙏
That was one the richest and precious messages I have ever heard. It was an honor to be in a place to hear it. Thank you for this incredibly generous gift.
I’m so sorry for the crazy things you have to go through. Perhaps it will encourage you to know that Dallas’s work and then your work with him and then your work after him have been the most significant teachings and the most encouraging relationship in my life over the last 3 years. He so obviously loved you and I think he appreciated the new language you could use to describe the well worn thoughts he wanted to keep fresh. You have both helped me immensely. You don’t know me, but I am your friend.
Thank you John for sharing. The world is full of evil and unjust - even proclaimed Christians. Some of us have been in your position too. What you shared, has resonated in our hearts. So thank you for your courage of sharing! We are with you! I believe God knows what is going on and he is trying to see how we who love him would react and when we do well, we shall overcome this through him! You will get through this! Although I feel disgusted with the situation, I feel sad. You are my favorite pastor at Menlo and I look forward to your sermons every Sunday. Now in 2022, the church is still looking for the right pastor. Anyway you cannot be replace because you are original, funny and true! God be with you and give you strength to heal, overcome all obstacles and and be triumphant once again. Keep going John! GOD's power is behind you all the way!
John, I saw this video for the first time today. I confess I haven't listen to much of your ministry, but have thought and prayed for you and Nancy often. I don't know if you remember us, because there were so many to remember at Menlo. We are in Bend, Oregon. We attend the Nativity Lutheran Church in Bend. And it is an ELCA church. But our pastor is a Godly man who I have fallen in love with along with the Church. Right now, we are all walking through the shadow of the evil and death of all the mass shootings in Texas. Your message on this video seems so appropriate. It harmonizes with some of the readings I'm having out of the classic, Abiding In Christ by Andrew Murray. I see the pain in your eyes that I'd never seen in the past. Out of pain comes depth of understanding. We will continue to hold you and Nancy in prayer. We love you and your memory is close to our heart. Blessings. Dick & Shirley Olsen
Ever since I found Dallas Willards talks on RUclips I have been captivated by what I see and hear. The times when you two hang out for coffee are special to watch. Seeing you share your heart like this enlarged my Christian fellowship. Thanks for sharing. This was a while ago and I hope everything has been dealt with.
JO Been listen,n to these podcast daily. 1st time I saw this one on a ligation. Its yr, old but I want to say ; " late but straight" God bless brother.... been there. So painful..... tore my guts. Your sermons and books have blessed me many times. I hate your being dragged through ashes but there is beauty arising from your story, faith, acceptance, and courage. Thank you. It's a privilege to join you in the fellowship of the withered hand.
John, you and Dallas have so affected my life and I thank you both for that may I say you are in Trinitarian Fellowship with us and I will pray for you. Dave
Thank you for sharing this. It's wonderful to hear from you and listen to your preaching. Keep preaching online. I was at Menlo and moved to Bozeman Montana and I still listen online to you as your spiritual leader growing Faith online.
Hello Pastor John it gives me so much joy to listen to you again even in these moments that were difficult for you and your family I want to share with you that I and my children listened to it every Sunday at Menlo Church and that God has used it greatly speaking to my life and my growth spiritual when more I felt defeated you prayed for me and my children and you transmitted peace and strength and trust in God, I want you to know that you are a true servant of God and that you have always transmitted the love and passion for the Lord that although I Sometimes it was hard to understand everything through my language but still I could feel and understand the love of God through you God bless you and I know that the victory is already ours in Christ Jesus and that what God began in you will take you to the end of A glorious way because I faithfully believe what He says that for those of us who love God all things work for good. Romans 8:28
Good day John, I thank our ABBA for allowing me to find your channel. He used your episode on Gratitude for Tim Keller to a channel that we cross path. I have been a listener of Tim’s sermons and I am reader of his books, even his last book on Forgiveness. Because of this it developed in me Friendship though he did not know me. He is a powerful influence to me and my family to love and serve our city, to be a channel of the gospel in our city. Thank you so much for your words of gratitude, I thank the Holy Spirit for allowing me to hear your episode on your personal journey dated 2 years ago. Isaiah 50:7 means a lot to me. Thank you so much for your life, the presence and works of the Holy Spirit our Paraclete is so evident. God bless you, your wife and family. Blessings from Baguio City, Philippines 🇵🇭
Thank you for sharing, I only saw this message today, 2 years later. I am grateful you had humility to talk openly about it, many of us have been accused falsely even by well-meaning fellow believer. It is heartbreaking and hurtful. Yet Romans 8:28-39 is very comforting and finding comfort in Him alone. Most often I find this happening when people are doing nothing for Him and show a mask face of morality , rather then simply trust, obey and follow. I wonder if they read the Bible properly what would they had said to God when Nehemiah was asked to eat cow dung, or Hosea was asked to marry a prostitute. God bless you for your honest sharing with the world, yet ultimately what is important is how He sees you and He is more then capable to keep you. Faithfulness is one day at the time, and in difficult times, one step at the time. Mathew 6:33
Only Love to you Pastor John ❤️Your presence is/was missed so profoundly. It's wonderful to see and hear you. Thank you for your courage to be here with us. Keep rising!!!
I have had huge respect for Dallas Willard for so many years. It gives me great joy that you want to preserve his life and the way he communicated Jesus. I also respect you for having the courage to continue in a public life even though you have experienced the pain of a child making decisions that are difficult for you to face. You give courage to those of us who are not public but have children who have made difficult choices.
I thank you John for this message. I always loved the ten finger prayer, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". I have prayed this during challenging times in my life. Just to stop and take the time to slowing repeat the prayer using all ten fingers (on these old wrinkled hand) helps to recenter my thoughts and listen to "my better angles". I believe in you 100%. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Blessings
So I’m the recipient 3 years on from Dublin Ireland of the beauty for your ashes.Being a survivor of quite a lot of abuse in one form or another I have found becoming new such a safe space. I only came across this video after seen quite a few of the videos. John and Nancy I graciously thank God for you both and if this means anything to you.. I’m not someone who trusts easy I’m super intuitive to what someone says they are and who they really are. You are the real deal and your in honest pursuit by Gods grace to be true and authentic. I trust your who you say you are. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
I have Dallas Willard’s quote in my eyesight each day. Thank you so much for your example of how to make that daily prayer for Godly arrangement in your life.
John,I have just found this, a year on...l hope, and pray for you that this has come good, and that God has been glorified throughout, in Jesus' Name. May God bless you and keep you, make His face shine apon you, and give you Shalom... ❤✝️🙏
I'm sorry that you went through this but your message is helping me go through a very difficult time with a narcissistic family member. It's been very difficult to handle the threats and verbal abuse. Thank you for your videos.
Brother John, I am still with you. A long time ago a man said to me, "Charles Knuckles, I believe in you." It was fuel for the fight. John Ortberg, I believe in you.
May the Love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit continue to sustain you. The body of Christ is much better, because of leaders like you! Peace and blessings to you and yours!
John, from the depth of my heart, Thank you, for showing us with raw authenticity and humility, that with the Lord by our side, it is possible to navigate the great tribulations through which we journey. Brother, THANK YOU….In the Fellowship of The Withered Hand, Chris
I’m am so glad you talk about the importance of emotions!! Sadly, growing up in church emotions were not counted as important or even good. How crazy is that. Anyway, God gave us feelings and emotions and they can be really good.
Oh! John, how my heart hurts for you. Please know that I and so many others believe in you and your faithfulness that God has placed in you. I was there at that church from just after it started. I don’t believe Jesus ever told us to wallow in the past or let others drag us there but instead to go and teach the Gospel. You are His treasure and to me and many others as well. Onward, dear brother, in His peace. You are heard and you are loved.
I am so sad that I didn’t find out until last year that you were just across the Bay from me all this time!? I’m so sorry, but thank you for your humility and love. I love everything you’ve written!!❤
Thank you for sharing your story. The evil one will use every opportunity to drag us through the mud but you seem to have the right attitude to get through this. I know I am a little late with a comment but just ran across this teaching moment and felt the need to to respond. Hope this has gone away because I enjoy and learn from your teachings.
Such incredible direction for living, Gods thoughts and ways being implemented, realignment of perspective, so much truth. Thank you for being such a wonderful leader. Where can we get one of those signs? I’ve been talking with my prayer buddy about that very desire and prayer. How do I choose the right thing over all the “good things” there are to do in a day. ❤
Thanks John, great courage here. Must be hard to be a particular target of the evil one. In a perverse sort of way that must mean you are doing something right.
I just found this and I want you to know that I've been praying for you and Bill Hybels also. After reading probably every book you've written, I believe in what God has done in you and also in Bill. It hurts to see the pain that you've experienced. I can say with confidence that me and I imagine thousands of people love you. Over the last 6 months or so I've lost track of you but finally found you when I received a notice on Facebook about your Advent videos. If I can help in any way please let me know. Actually I was hoping that you would end up at Bayside and sent Ray an email hinting at that but I trust whatever you do that you are listening to the Lord. May God bless you and your family.
John, you ARE my spiritual teacher. I want you to know that I believe in you, I miss you, and I am so grateful and feel very blessed to walk this with you from afar. Please know you and Nancy are in my prayers; truly 🤗
I believe you John I just don’t understand why people will hurt you so bad! You bad people out there please stop tormenting John ! Seek God for your hurt !
John, I read the allegations against you and I never believed a word of it. It doesn't sound at all like the Pastor I know. I pray for you and your family. God is using you and will give you strength. Isaiah 41:10
I’m sorry you had to experience that attack on your character John. Thank you for your witness and transparency. Your sharing your pain and faithfulness is a real blessing
Thank goodness I don't have to judge but I have a powerful God. In the end we will all stand infront of God truth or lie will be exposed. Make sure you are not scared of humans but rather be fearful of God.
Prayers for you and your family from Denmark. May God be glorified and you yourself be blessed.
You are so kind we appreciate your words of blessings and encouragement Bucky

you folks have really dipped into the kool-aid.
