This is so well put together, Varien is so good at these orchestral dubstep mixes. We're lucky that Monstercat has such a history with Varien though, he's way too creative for the audience this channel has acquired over the years.
When I hear the term "Monstercat," I instantly think of two names: Tristam for his exquisite mastery in several fields, and Varien for his astonishing creativity and book-smarts. He KNOWS how to make a nigh-flawless piece, and he slips his own little spin that consists of 100 things that only he can do into it. It's hard to describe, but Varien is the most unique artist I've heard.
Zetsuuga Varien really is a fantastic artist, and the term applies to him better than most other producers in the world. And as you mentioned, Tristam is really great as well. But, the thing is, look at Monstercat's recently uploaded section, you don't see a lot of Tristam and Varien, or "creativity" for that matter. The IQ of this channel's audience is in rapid decline, and with it the quality of its uploads.
I'd say that's subjective. I totally agree with you that Varien is amazing, but I think the releases have been only getting better.
That's all up to personal opinion, though.
Well I mean, we still have fantastic artists, for certain. Look at Hellberg and Rameses B stepping up. WRLD and Laszlo are destinned to become Monstercat's Spotlights now. Varien uploads sometimes, and Tristam hasn't uploaded since Frame of Mind, and that song means a lot to me, but I won't go into detail on that one. I hope to see Tristam return with more amazing tracks that blow my mind every time...

This track is probably one of the most respectable songs on Monstercat. I honestly don't have words to describe the nature of it, no word I know of would do it justice. Varien's work on movie compositions is really paying off on the skills he picks up and Cassandra's vocals were just phenomenal. This isn't just a song, its a work of art.

Out of all the vocalists they could have chosen for this trilogy, Cassandra Kay is a great choice. Her voice is very soft and deep, so it fits the dark, melodic feel of this track. Varien is a genius while Cassandra is amazing.

Best of 019, hands down. Even better than snowblind. Best vocal performance of the album as well. Everything about this is so fucking epic. The guitar, the orchestral bits, everything. LOVE the use of that melody from the original. Pure perfection, Varien may be my new favorite mc artist, his streak of perfection continues.

I love how Varien and Cassandra explored the darker and more depressing side of the war situation. Varien is a master at story telling with music, this sounds like it was made for a movie or videogame. Varien is really a one of a kind artist.
This song is gorgeous, it's so well pieced together and just gives you that feeling ya know? Where like you feel like you could take on the world, and you feel powerful! I love music like this. Infact I love Varien.

When I saw Valkyrie II, I thought to myself, "god dammit varien you can't just be cheap and lazy and make a vip mix" but damn. This beats the original Valkyrie and most of the songs on 019. Everything just seems to get better and better.

Varien is clearly a god. I loved Valkyrie's unique style, out-of-character moments, and the strange blend that you wouldn't expect to work that did. It told a story, which I love to hear in my music.

I really think lyrics in EDM songs make them so much better! It can sometimes feel a bit empty without them, they definitely add something to songs, especially Au5 and Varien's. Genres like Future Bass and Hard Dance don't really need them though. What do you think? Discuss.

To be honest, I think Hero and it's remixes are considered some of the worst Monstercat has to offer, and not just for the song, it's for the lyrics too.
Canvas' lyrics can be considered some of the more interesting. I just dunno what to say to it's variety and how well it effects the chilling nu disco feel.
Snowblind... It's a beauty that's for sure. If it weren't for the lyrics, the song would've been shit, not that the song was bad in general, but it just wouldn't be the same without it.
