I remember in Ross Scott's Ross's Game Dungeon: Go to Hell episode he told a story where he and a buddy made soul contracts where they saw how many people where willing to sell their soul for a candy bar. It's was quite a lot. With one guy going "Sure I'm hungry".
Trust me, Satan wouldn't need much to take peoples' soul.
Most people our age (including me) don't beleive in souls or hell or anything, so yeah free food.
It would be different if the devil actually appeared to make this deal, however in this senario say no, BUY A CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM and seek medical help.

@@beelinespasm6822 The most common belief is that you (your soul) go to either heaven or hell when you die. Like, your good vs bad actions are judged (or you believe God intervened with Jesus Christ to save us because none of us are good enough to go to heaven) and you get sent somewhere.
This is just my biased religious opinion though XD, and there's a lot of other things people believe you can find on the internet without any definite answer.

What really gave me the thought of Rebecca being the girl in the story is because she said “This story just came to me” insinuating she was the one who made it up, but then she said “They say ------“ meaning she’s not the only one who’s heard this story. Yes, people can make up things said in stories, however, it’s not a common thing, and even though she could’ve made up the story and put in her own “they say this and that” it’s not really likely for her kind of character. I didn’t think she was the girl because of her thinking we were someone else, or the pair of footsteps. I listened closely. And that’s what set off the trigger for me. If you had the same thought, please share!

the first half of that story was basically the legend of Paganini, the devil's violinist (supposedly traded his soul for insane virtuosity and composed some of the hardest pieces of all time)
Makes me wonder how many variations of the "musician or artist sells his soul to Satan or an entity" story that seem to span out across cultures. Some parts of the US has variations where muscians sell their souls at crossroads, and I think some trickster gods/archetypes sometimes do similar deals (except it's not always for someone's soul, sometimes it's just a wager or something).
I looked up this Paganini and found he has the same first name as Machiavelli.

It's the twisting of goods into evils that always makes stories like this, where the Devil's involved, hit all the more harder. The thing a parent should want most for their children is to see them prosper and succeed. But, without a soul, there is no love. Only selfishness and greed that overwhelm and consume.

this might sound like a backhanded compliment, but this was better than I expected and the ending really gave me a chuckle
Its wonderful, and the ending fits perfectly with how most ghost stories end, a warning. that was a 10/10 story

All the money, a happy child, and none of the spotlight for myself. This sounds like the perfect outcome, for me at least.
