    You mentioned you're reading the "Wheel of Time" series. Well, Blind Guardian actually has a song titled "Wheel of Time" which is about the books. You might be interested to check it out. :)

    Andre is one of the best soloists in the game. He knows how to shred *hard* and still keep it in the song. It's never quite masturbating, just elevating the song to the next level.

    Hansi's vocals are excellent. Other good power metal bands to explore are Sonata Arctica, Helloween and Rhapsody of Fire.

    I remember when I started getting into metal. I had enough money to buy 1 CD. So I went into the store and prelistened to Blind Guardian - Nightfall in the Middle Earth and Rhapsody - Symphony of Enchanted Lands. Loved both; bought the Rhapsody CD; went back home, begged some money from my parents; went back into the store and bought the Blind Guardian CD too. :)

    If you enjoy this kind of sound then continue with the second song from the same album "Im Alive".

    Obligatory listen to and then there was silence. ITS A SONG ABOUT THE FALL OF TROY AND ITS AMAZING. Id say any of their songs are worth a listen and they have such a diverse sound in their discography starting as speed metal integrating folk and then turning full symphonic. And yeah this album is renown in the BG community for its grit

    Nice reaction:) If you decide to do more Blind guardian reactions I'd suggest Mirror, mirror (another well loved classic power metal song) and the Bard song (a classic acoustic metal ballad, not really power metal, but very nice non-the-less). Cheers!

    Blind Guardian got a big thrash influence. All their albums until Nightfall In Middle Earth got this, but decline after. I'd strongly suggest you to listen to the albums Imaginations From The Other Side, Somewhere Far Beyond and Tales From The Twilight World in their entirety. If you're not up to it, those songs would be a must listen to list from them :
    Majesty (top 5 for me)
    Valhalla (far from being one of my favorite, but it's a Blind Guardian must)
    The Last Candle
    Welcome To Dying
    Journey Through The Dark (top 5 for me)
    Somewhere Far Beyond (top 5 for me)
    I'm Alive (top 5 for me)
    The Script For My Requiem (top 5 for me)
    Another Holy War
    Mirror Mirror
    The Curse Of Feanor
    And Then There Was Silence
    Battlefield.
    Well, they got a super big repertoir, but you'll get to it ;)
    Have fun !
    P.S.: Just subscribed ;)

      That's not true, they have thrash elements in their last records too. Punishment Divine( Hansi's more badass vocal performance), A Voice In The Dark, Tanelorn and even Sacred Mind.
      Even the new song Violent Shadows has a Testament vibe in it.

    • @MightyPee
      @MightyPee 3 года назад

      @@carlosluismendez7392 Never as strong as the pre-Twist in The Myst era. Punishment Divine is great, but the A Night At The Opera album "in overall" is a downgrade from Nightfall In Middle Earth, on that aspect. Nope, can't stand the new albums. So, yes, that's true :P

  • @thenomad4123

    I always thought the story of this song was some person who took power from fantasy to get through cold real life got insane and started to confuse reality and fantasy (even fantasy stories itself, as 'was Peter Pan in Mordor') , and now he wants to go back to clarity and his imaginations as in back to his old self. Your interpretation is very cool as well.
    The real story Hansi intended was quite different however, it is about a boy who literally jumped through a mirror to another world where fantasy is real, and then brought back to this world and gets depressed, quite interesting.

    There's mutiple types of power metal. Blind Guardian is pulled by classical and folk. It's different for alot of them. First time I saw Blind Guardian, my voice was shot for 2 1/2 days. If you havnt heard Orden Ogan, try "The Things We Believe In". German power metal as well.

    I'm so lucky to live in the states and had the opportunity to see them 4x. Crowds are fairly low like 500 ppl. In Europe, 5/10,000. Guardian has a great signature sound. Feel lucky my American brothers who seen them. They don't need us to be successful but yet they still came.

    I think i repead myself when someone does a BG Reaction. But its sure: these guys are the creme de la creme in Speed and Power Metall. Often named as the most influencial Speed and Powermetall Band (they started in 84 as Lucifer's Heritage and renamed the Band in 87 as now known Blind Guardian), The Kings of sweet transmissions and also known as THE KINGS OF THE CROWD. Just watch theyr Live Videos from Wacken open air or the Imaginations through the looking glas Concert Videos. Best songs by BG? Well thats not easy to say: MIrrorMirror, Fly, Twilight of the Gods, Grand Parade, Curse my name, Children of the Smith, The Bards Song(in the forrest), Lord of the Rings, Immaginations from the other side, Wheel of time, And there was silence....there is so much very good stuff made by this guys i dont know how long to do this list. THX for this reaction, good job done.

    Nightfall in Middle-Earth is Blind Guardian's best album. It is a concept album about the Silmarillion. I would just listen to it all. Also, if you like Blind Guardian you will like Judicator.

    Blind Guardian!! Oh, I listened to their songs every day in my junior high and high school days. So many great songs that I don't know which one to recommend. Everyone seems to recommend "Mirror Mirror" and it's surely a good song, but how about ones from older days? For example, I love "Somewhere Far Beyond".

    BG started out a thrash metal band. At the time of this album they had moved on to power metal but you can still hear the thrash roots, I think. I think you would enjoy the first three albums even more than this.

    My Favourite Blind Guardian Song! I really like all their albums up to Nightfall (kind of lost interest after that). This album is definitely my most listened to. A nice mix from their early speed metal days and more epic stuff to come later

    I think you might get a wrong idea of power metal vocals after hearing this song. Typically it is more high pitched and Hansi's voice usually isn't that gritty either.
    Wheel of Time would show you another side from Blind Guardian. Somewhere far beyond would make for a great reaction, too

    You get a thumbs up from me just for the headbanging, man. Blind Guardian are special, despite all the big theatrics and fantasy stuff I think they also have like a bit of a, to use a dated term, speed metal to them. It's even more evident on their first album.

    This song is definitely power metal, but it's not necessarily the best representation of the genre overall as it's a bit heavier, slower and slightly less melodic than your typical stuff. The definition of power metal that combines all the typical traits, in my opinion, is Gamma Ray's Valley of the Kings. I would love to see your reaction to that song.

    This isn't really what "Power Metal" sounds like typically... Although this is what I like, I find that when I say I like "Power Metal" and the bands I listen to that are labelled "Power Metal" are like Iced Earth / Blind Guardian / Kamelot, which do not really fit the super high Vocal stereotype 24/7, and crazy fast all the time bps. When I think Power Metal, I think Stratovarious, Rhapsody of Fire / Hammerfall / Helloween / Lost Horizon / DragonForce etc. (And I'm not really a fan of that style of power metal) But if you want to hear what the typical Power Metal template would be, I'd check out any of those bands XD

    • @jcrosato
      @jcrosato 5 лет назад +1

      @@BlazonStone Obviously, but that's not what I said at all. I said Typical Power Metal. Typically the majority of vocals are super high tenors, and are super cheerful.
      And Power metal is in itself a sub-category... and so is metal, and so is rock. We aren't just go organize everything as music in the future...

    • @carlosluismendez7392
      @carlosluismendez7392 3 года назад

      I think is because a lot of those high pitch singers are influenced too much by Geoff Tate while Hansi's singing is more rooted in Hard rock singers like Ian Gillan or Mercury.
