My Emira test drive ticked all the right boxes for a true driver’s car. As a GT3 owner, the Emira was more fun and engaging on public roads without risk of jail time.
@@Anti-FreedomD.P.R.ofSouthKorea you don’t see 9k often on public roads even if you’re a hooligan. 2nd gear at 9000 rpm is +/-80mph. As intoxicating as it is, 6-7000 rpm’s is more frequent and still enjoyable. When I hit 90mph in my 240Z it was exciting. Emira is a highlight of cars past and proof you don’t have to go crazy fast enjoy the drive.
feel like this is more true about nissan/infiniti, considering their new cars are still using parts from 15+ years ago. What worse is that they already sucked back then, so they're even worse now.
@@ihavealife002 Yea.. I see the new Z for what it really is.. A Q60 Red Sport with the same manual from the 370z and a new suit... It seems shortsighted, but I just can't bring myself to like it because of that, lol.. Edit: I just driver older cars now (90s - early 10s) as the older I get, the more it's about the driving feel and experience rather than outright speed or numbers..
You guys out did yourselves. I can’t express just how much your attention to nuance means to me. You spent nearly 40 minutes solidly on what matters most, the driving experience. Hats off to you both for supreme and unparalleled content.
@@francisgomes9976, spoken like someone who has done ZERO research. Mp4s-12cs are extremely expensive to maintain and chronically unreliable. The Audi has its own problems (cough, cough, exploding V8 engine) and has a worse power to weight ratio than the Emira.
@@flyingphoenix113 hahaha clearly you know nothing about Audis V8 or V10 then you wouldn't speak about "exploding engine" you could say MP4 is expensive to maintain but it's not like Emira would be cheap as Camry to maintain. No way little Emira would match R8s V10 performance stop with your B.S, I was commenting based on what he have said "I don't think we will see another car like it" lol it's clearly the same car underneath as Evora GT with different suit. Lotus promised $66k-74k MSRP, now it has gone up to $95k and just wait till you have dealers mark up. Again stick to driving 1998 Honda Civic, you clearly do not know anything about performance car, never driven or owned any RWD performance car.
Have been an auto repair shop owner for almost 40 years, repaired and driven many old and new sports cars and decided to put down a 5k deposit 2 years ago and retire with a Lotus Emira in my garage! So glad I made the right decision. Thanks guys for your outmost entertaining videos!😎👍🏻
I put down a deposit too. But Biden’s economy sent me back to work. I’m still gonna keep the order open though…, always wanted a mid engine car, corvette is fugly, and cayman is too expensive day to day.
@@actionfaction2558 l hear you, we just wanted a fresh looking sports car that’s different than the usual dime a dozen ones! Hope they don’t raise the MSRP though, and there is still the challenge of which color to choose?
In 3 weeks I will have waited 2 years for my Emira. Supposed to be here in October now which is the fourth "expected" delivery date. Hopefully that happens. I haven't given up yet!
The sound and the response in that Lotus-modified Toyota V6 is probably the best I've experienced since Alfas classic Busso V6. I got the opportunity to try it out in an Exige. Love it. Want it.
I usually save your videos for Sunday afternoons when the kids are asleep to be able to see it on the big screen...but seeing that title made me watch it instantly. Great work as always, three fantastic cars that you kinda can't go wrong with!
Glad you guys love the Emira. I ordered one in Verdant green with the 6MT. As you guys said, it has all the classic qualities of a great sports car at a great price point. Took a chance on it.
@@bill4632 Looks like they just upload and release the video in one go rather than uploading first then choosing a later date/time for release. That would give a chance for the video to process in the highest resolution.
You guys did a great job with the audio on this one! I've always felt that the sound a car makes is a huge part of it's character. All 3 of these cars sound unique and great. Great review!
This is the comparison I've been waiting for. As always, I wish you guys could have gone to 3 other environments that being: an actual track for a better apples to apples performance driving comparison; a road trip for various real world driving and practicality demonstrations, and to places where regular people could give their feedback like a city center (looks, selfies, conversations initiated, and overall attention); or cars and coffee type events for longer, more in-depth public opinion from car people. That said, thanks for the insightful video. I was recently in the market and it came down to the Emira and the C8 Stingray. The C8 won out for me, but I would have been perfectly happy with either.
Extremely fair and well balanced. Completely agree on all points, which is rare. All three cars are awesome to the right buyer. I like all 3 cars for completely different reasons. It's like choosing between three different ice cream flavors. They're all delicious!
I'm amazed that the Corvette has always punched above its weight, still today it's a lower price than similar style cars but go out and play with super cars and you won't be embarrassed or left behind. In fact, you might just be faster than some of them.
@@Encourageable I’ve drive more than one and yes compared with their European counterparts they most definitely look and feel cheap. It’s a Chevy after all. Again look at their prices on the used car market. They have fallen like a rock.
@@drstevej2527 Not that they plummeted, they are just leveling out to their original intended price before all the price gouging took place due to lack of availability. Which makes them even more of a value in that market.
@@mark120371 No! They are plummeting compared with their rivals as it’s still a Chevy and once the initial hype wore off the world realized that its just a Vett.
Just got back from a drive in my Evora 400 before watching this. Absolutely LOVE it! I will definitely be interested in an Emira in the near future. Will still keep my 400 though. It's got the charm of analog gauges and "coach built" interior.
@@davepaturno4290 bit of a difference between a mass produced car that has been developed by the biggest auto maker on the planet (both of your examples) and a small hand built car that simply cannot have the same amount of testing. At least compare apples to apples
@luker3456 It's more the age of the company that SHOULD result in quality improvements over time. GM is huge but has lots of quality issues, even for years after new model introductions. Lotus should not have to take 6+ years to fix issues. I have a very small company, yet I never use that as an excuse for poor quality.
As a 911 owner, I can appreciate where you are coming from. Porsche is never a good value, unless you compare it to Ferrari or some other boutique brand. I bet the Lotus is a hoot to drive. But very few people would even consider daily driving one. It only sits 48 inches high. It makes the Porsche feel like a VW bus, by comparison. It only has a 14 gallon gas tank, so it's range is closer to an ev than a regular ice. It looks the part though. It truly looks like an exotic.
Why would you say that about the 911. My 2012.5 991 Carrera s has 37000 trouble free miles except for tires, oil, minor stuff. At 127k out the door I can still over 65k for it 11yrs later.
You don't like the Corvette? Also, I think I might be the only person (apparently) who thinks the Evora is better looking than the Emira. That being said, the Emira still does look fantastic
The C8 Corvette looks the best inside and out. It has the best engine, beats the other two on the track..doesn’t have additional turbos or superchargers, is cheaper and ticks al the boxes…each to their own but the Lotus doesn’t come close.
I have driven all and have an Emira, Z06, and Boxster GTS 4.0 on order. I’m picking the Porsche. I love the look of the Emira but am concerned about the QC issues and lack of local dealers near me should I have a problem. I’ve owned 7 Vettes and 7 Porsches, nearly all manuals and mostly convertibles which is why the Porsche is the car for me, 3 pedals, drop top.
You are one of the lucky ones. I have not had the pleasure of driving the Emira. I placed an order 24 months ago and finally dropped it for a C8 Stingray. Recently sold the C8 for the arrival of our C8 ZO6. Boxster is ok but the Carrera that sits in the garage is just sexy as hell. My son likes the 992 GT3 but, that wing just is just hideous to me. Wish you many smiles and miles in the GTS.
You made the best choice. I wish I could afford one....but I am a long ways off as I drive a 98 Nissan Sentra.....but at least it is under 2400 pounds and has a manual transmission.
You should talk about Corvette's motorsports/racing history. Corvettes have been leading/dominating GT racing since the C4. And GT racing is really what matters the most as GT race cars are the closest you can get to the production sports cars. The C4 was so good it was banned by the SCCA for winning too much. The C5 has numerous 24 Hours of Le Mans wins and absolutely dominated GT racing series. C6 through C8: More wins at Le Mans and other FIA/WEC and IMSA races, overall IMSA GT championships, etc.
Love my 2020 C8 w/Z51 and MR...Great GT car, nice top off cruiser, capable track day car with pads and fluid. BANDWIDTH! I agree it does feel a bit numb, but im used to it now.
Incredible job as always fellas! Watched numerous videos of these cars individually, but to see you compare them back to back to back was very cool. Keep up the great work!
Never sell it, since it’s the last front engine Corvette, it will gain value over time, maybe not in the next 5-10 years, but it should after that… even more when all other cars will be hybrid or electric.
I've been interested in the Cayman the longest, Emira got my deposit first, but C8 gets my money in the end. I only haven't driven the Emira but their points and rankings agree with everything I've inferred these last few years. What tipped me to C8 is availability/affordability/faster shipping of replacement parts, 1st year gremlins mostly sorted, and dealership network. C8 is cheaper in US vs UK, Emira is cheaper in UK vs US so C8 wins in value only in US. C8 is also tuned for average American roads where I'll mostly be driving (not as much in twisties) whereas Emira suspension is tuned for average British roads which are very different. So I'll get more out of the C8 vs Emira in terms of engineering intent. C8 makes more practical sense not in terms of livability but as a sports car that's purchased, driven, and maintained in America. Its body lines don't flow as elegantly but it has more aggressive supercar road presence due to its proportions. Almost a wash, slight edge to C8. So close that I'd opt for Emira if I lived in the UK. Sig I've had these last couple years in the Emira forum: Emira v Cayman v C8: It's rock-paper-scissors where C8 and Emira are both scissors and Cayman is the paper.
Great review, and the comparison many were looking for made even better by two guys who know these brands intimately. I've driven all 3 and agree with everything you guys said.
I have a new 2023 C8, and very much enjoy the fact the transmission went to shit after 370 miles. I am super happy to be waiting over 3 weeks with no ETA on when it will be fixed(replaced).
I see many others with this and lots of other issues in the corvetteforum, C8 general section. I always monitor forums before buying any car. That's why I'd have a hard time justifying the purchase of a Corvette.
In my book, the C-8 is #1. i'm 6'3" and fit just fine in a C-8, and it's style and base performance is unmatched. The Lotus is #2 and the Cayman is #3.
if you get a C8 get at least the 2lt tech package, thats what has all the cameras, BSM etc. makes it not a nightmare to drive. those added cameras and BSM make it so easy to drive as a daily driver. AS for the mag ride etc.. I opted away from the z51 packgae due to break dust and maintance expence sine mine is a daily driver. , but added the performance exhaust to get the 5hp boost of the z51 package and the stock suspension performs very well. but is not adjustable feel like the mag ride system.
Wow. This is entertainment. Love the Lotus. Once again. Thank you guys for bringing this amazing content, such quality from the entire team and the philosophical way you guys describe your experience with these machines. Love your content. Keep them coming. Can't wait for the next one.
Another great video - thank you both. I love the idea of the Emira, but I also like the idea of actually driving whatever car I choose. With no dealership support near me, stories of long waits for cars, the prospect of having difficulty getting parts down the road - all of these things hold me back (even if I could afford and justify $100K on a car, which right now I cannot). The C8 is cool, but I just don't love GM products - perhaps I need to revisit that and drive one. But I like to shift. Yes, a DCT is faster, but I'm not racing, and I'm not doing regular track days (if I were, I would strongly consider a DCT - one less thing to think about while mastering a track). So, that leaves me with Porsche, and more likely, leaves me with my 2000 Boxster which I have had for 15 years as the second owner. It's a manual, it's paid for, I can get parts readily, my dealership is wonderful, the car has been remarkably reliable. And, most importantly, it brings a huge grin to my face every time I look at it and drive it. And, I won't end up losing my license - it's not blazingly fast, but it's fast enough for the street. Thanks again for a wonderful video!
The more I look at the lotus the more I start to like it. The design team at Lotus deserve a Nobel peace prize for that design looks like a 200 grand sports car.
Well done, fellas. Great comparison - some reviewers haven't been kind to the Emira, but as a previous Elise owner myself, I am very glad to see this thorough real road review. Well done!!
I got my full blown addiction to Lotus Cars back when I bought a '72 Lotus Europa. The craving is just as bad as the day I bought it. The connection to the road is staggering. One drive in a Lotus and you'll be a Lotus junkie for life. I always say, "Nothing handles like a Lotus... absolutely nothing."
Yep the C8 is a amazing value, huge power , bold, and yes a big rear end ( i own one) and the no spoiler option helps with that allot.. , but you can carry a full grocery cart of groceries home in it with ease, mine is my daily driver outside of winter.. we go groceries shopping in it all the time, full cart ever time.. Unless your doing home improvement projects that require a bed its very daily capable. But really this comparison should have had the Z06 not the C8 to get close price wise.. Z06 is a step above the c8 and yes the C8 feels like a Lambo or Ferrari.. With its bold styling and performance.. C8 puts those in it price class to shame.. Z06 destroys them all for the price. But yes like the true super cars it is styled like, you cant see crap out of it , get the 2lt teck package for all the cameras.. cant imagine owning this car with out it, it would be a nightmare.
Two guys who tell you that the car they love, that insists on your intense involvement at all times, who didn't drive in traffic give that impression. You want to go fast, have comfort, and NOT be on constant alert? A car that surprises you with its competence as a Daily Driver (as they state) a car that is cheaper? A car that can run with ACTUAL supercars? Sunday drivers on mountain roads can have POVs that are vastly divergent from the commoners' takes.

The Porsche is basically a more than 10 year old design with an upgraded engine. Shouldn't come as a surprise that the competition has finally been able to catch up, except for every day usage maybe. If resale value and reliability are up to par, we should count ourselves lucky that in the era of fast and heavy EV's, we still have these three, aurally pleasing, mid-engined toys to choose between. Enjoy them while they last...
Wow wow wow. Having driven Caymans, 911s (997 gen), Evora GT and C8 Z51, I agreed with Paul's ranking. Lotus > C8 > Porsche. I'll if you want the best long distance cruiser between American states, daily driver or want to put down lap times it's C8 easy. It's the NSX of our gen. I'd swing for the Lotus if I could.
The Corvette, as usual, is hands down the best value proposition. You cannot get anything close to as good as the Corvette unless you're spending twice as much.
Guys, bravo 🙌 from the Heartland. I am so stoked for this review. Please forgive, I can’t come near the channel for fear of spoilers until I view this review.
I am not a habitual viewer of this channel (though maybe I should be). This is the first real comparison of these three cars and breaking down the review into sections really brings the review to life by emphasizing details that matter (e.g. the amount of weight over the front axle in the Lotus vs. the Cayman). It feels objective and informative, like a highly driver-focused enthusiast's DougScore (not knocking Doug - he's brilliant for different reasons). Sometimes in other car reviews, you feel like you are getting someone's opinion about the car without the appropriate context. Not true here. Excellent review. My only caveat: I wish more had been said about the nature of the power delivery. The Cayman has the advantage over the Emira on paper: a higher redline and more "motorsports derived" powertrain (without sacrificing reliability). And a pushrod V8 is very different to the other two and might make the car for a particular kind of buyer (refined, growly vs. howly, etc.). More to explore there.
Glad you found us and enjoyed this comparison. We’ve been doing things in this style for a long time and we’re glad it resonated with you. We appreciate you view, and feedback.
I've booked an Emira about 3 months ago, I've watched so many reviews about the car and i have to say...That's one of the most honest & detailed reviews ever. Can't wait!!
C8 Vette for me. Ok so it might not be quite as good as other two but it still is very close. And service and parts way more available. Plus I want to support USA. Each car has its own good points. All are great. Oh I almost forgot, the vette is the better bargain. Even if vette breaks down can fix it quickly.
A great number of European types don't. That is there right. Some that don't like it are fanboys or trolls that are trying to push an agenda. Don't be fooled by those creeps.
Thank you. We’ve been doing this longer than most channels but haven’t been recommended to many RUclips car lovers. We’re thrilled you found us and enjoy what we do!
The Emira wins the beauty contest hands down, and it would be my pick of the three. While all the cars have their merits, I'm not going to the race track and wouldn't be willing to push the limits of any of them. That would leave me to pick the one that makes we want to turn around and stare after I park it. For me, that's the Emira.
I'm glad he mentioned the rear weight bias and lift-off oversteer. My Evora S did that. I learned how to use it at the racetrack to get the car rotated on corner entry. You could really get the nose pointed in at the apex early. It was a fantastic and fun characteristic once I figured it out. But it for sure could catch you out if you didn't know about it. And the traction control did absolutely zero to stop you from spinning in that situation because you are off the throttle. My Emira should arrive in the next 30 days. Very excited.
corvette is the coolest for weekend fun, the lotus is the more visceral but can be unpractical and too expensive, cayman is the best for really driving it everyday but it may not excel and feels and looks
something a base 'murican will choose every time, 10 times out of 10; *neck sports car "ftw"! 😉 (automatic, heavy, soft and lazy... that's what 'muricans believe a sports car is🙊)
This video confirmed my $64k 718 Cayman (base) spec’d and delivered in Dec ‘21 was the best car decision I’ve ever made. The subtlety the guys spoke about Re the 718 is exactly one of the things I live most about it… it will grown beautifully with age, in the same way I love looking at the 987s when I see one today. Yet, there’s so few Caymans on the road (978, 981, and/or 982), it still gets the occasional look. Love all three of the cars reviewed , great job guys!
Great review and enjoyed hearing the detailed commentary. Lotus is a nice car, but unless there is a dealership in my area, I will not buy a car. I’ve never been in a Porsche and again, no dealership nearby. The Porsche design is boring IMO and I hate the front view, something about the headlights always has been a deal breaker. Ok, so I’ve had a Corvette or two of them since 1980. Admittedly, some have not been great, but the C8 has been a real game changer. For the price, you’re getting a Super Car even with the base model. The ZO6 is beating a lot of the Exotics at a better price point. Just sold my 2009 C6 in May 2023. To have funds for another C8 or an SUV. Have a 2022 C8 and love it. Yes, there are four or five Dealerships in my area. Hoping to get an allocation for an ERAY. Allocation for ZO6 is probably a year or so away. Really thinking about my options? Do I go the practical route or get a car that’s 0-60 in 2.5 seconds?
C8 Z51 for me out of these 3. Once the dealer markups are gone. With leftover money you can buy GR86. Lotus, I love the hydraulic steering, manual transmission, and looks. But I am sorry, at 100K a 400hp supercharged Toyota Camry engine is not special enough. It needs a high revving inline-6, or flat six, or a V8 to make it special enough at 100k plus price point. And a bit more out right performance. It should not be getting beat by 4 door M3 or C63 AMG or Audi RS4. It should be able to hold its own like C8. A perfect car would be C8 price, and features, dealer network, ease of maintenance/parts/repairs/modifications, Evora looks, steering, and evora manual offered alongside a dual clutch C8. Whose gonna do that in future? Has my dream car. The way things are going probably no one. It’s gonna be sewing-machine sounds and electric motors.
If you're buying it for the engine, then you aren't into sports cars. You're a straight line driver, which is why straights are for fast cars. If you're into turning the steering wheel, then there are a lot of other things that matter to you, and the Lotus checks off all those other boxes, which is why curves are for fast drivers. Take note the expression on the faces of these two guys the first time you see them in the Lotus. They're grinning, and that says it all. They're analyzing the other two cars, but enjoying the Lotus, and they're doing at sane speeds on the street. That's a sports car. It's not about "beating" other cars, it's about how much fun you have while driving it. I agree with their assessment; it's the Lotus for me too.
@@markd3250 I disagree, engine and it’s power, character, delivery of the power, and sound. All are major factors in making a sports car more enjoy-able. A car without a proper engine is not a good sports car. It’s a flawed sports car. Just like a sports car without proper suspension and steering is not a good sports car, but rather a flawed one. Maybe you don’t care for the power plant that power your sports car. Many of us think it’s an important factor that enhances the joy of driving a sports cars. And one can enjoy a good engine on twisty roads as much as straights.
@@Tiger-pu4oz Of course you disagree lol; you're an engine guy. They're major factors to you, but do you see either of these two complaining that the Lotus doesn't have enough power? A supercharged V6 is actually a proper engine. If you look at the roads they were testing on, how much more power would you want? They both talked about how the Emira was more fun at low speeds, which to both of them (and to me) is important for a sports car on the street. As far as sound, of the 3 cars, I actually thought the Emira sounded the best. Just because I don't agree with what you like, doesn't automatically mean I don't care for the power plant in my sports car. 400 hp from a V6 that sounds like the one in the Emira works for me. If it doesn't for you, that's fine for you. I'm not into stop light racing, so beating other cars doesn't matter to me. However, if we get into the twisties, the Emira is the car I want to be in, even if others might be faster from 0-60.

I priced a Cayman GTS 4.0 equipped like the C8. It came out to be $120,000, $40,000 more than the Corvette. That's a lot to pay for the Porsche name. The Emira, to me, is a 3rd car. If you have a big SUV or big sedan, like an S class, and an everyday sports car like a 911, then you have the Emira as your Sunday/track day car. Or, if you budget is smaller, a nice sedan like an A6 and the C8 will suit you quite well.
The C8 is neither a good looking, nor a good handling car, but at least it has a charismatic engine. The lack of manual was a criminal mistake on GM's part.
@@flyingphoenix113 you are wrong. First, have you even driven it? Second, it has AMAZING presence in the street, looks exotic and mean as hell. And add in the Z06 engine? Poof, everything else is obliterated.
@@gabrielflores1149 handling and performance are two different things. You can throw Cup 2Rs on a Camry--doesn't make it a great handling car. I haven't driven the Z06, but the standard C8 is a real dissapoiment for me. Even the Z51 package doesn't save it. The chronic understeer caused by an overly sprung front and overly soft rear are at the root of the problem. But, for the boomers who will buy them and drive 6/10ths or less, I'm sure it's a great car. Just don't go anywhere near its limits. As for the looks, it already looks dated, and it looked like a kit car at release. Hands down the worst looking Corvette GM has made since the late C3s.
@@gabrielflores1149I driven all 3 including C8, and it's handling very boring, so much understeer and uncontrollable oversteer, it's wheelbase is like a limousine wheelbase..... It's generic type of driving not a special experience to remember
I've been around for a while, owned a lot of cars. Last car I bought was a 2023 Stingray with Z51, LT2 and Mag ride, MSRP was right at $89,000 and I must say this is the best car I have ever owned. I have paid more than twice this amount on cars that do not hold a candle to the C8. What more can I say - The C8 does it all and it does it all way better than anyone else.
Wow! My 3 favorite cars on the market today! I’d take any one of them, although I actually own the C8 HTC. The Emira wasn’t available a couple years ago when I first got on the Corvette list. And so few 718 4.0’s are produced that you really can’t get one and certainly can’t test drive one. That Emira is special except for the Camry engine. The GTS is special except for the dated tech. For me, the C8 was just right and I have no regrets. If you could combine the GTS’s engine with the Emira’s body and the Corvette’s technology and suspension you’d have perfection
If you are someone that has never owned a mid-engine car, the Cayman/Boxster is the way to go. It's just so confidence-inspiring and teaches you how to drive a mid-engine car properly while being a perfectly usable daily driver at the same time. What makes the Emira special is its possession of feedback/rawness while being at a higher caliber of cars. The same kind of feel you get from a track-moded Miata. I probably will sell my Miata to get into an Emira when I'm older, but the Boxster will always stay. As for the C8, it's your supercar on a budget. Although it's priced in a similar range as the other two cars, its focus is to compete with supercars, not sportscars.
No manual on the Corvette and the styling kept me away. I choose Cayman 4.0 cause it has a more special motor over the Emira. And at my age I didn’t want the exotic looks of the two others. It has nice storage front and back on road trips. And in sports plus mode it feels great in the canyons. Best of both worlds.
This is a weird comparison but I test drove the Emira and was not in love with it vs my 987 Cayman S. I thought it wasn't as fun to drive slow. But still an awesome car.
I hate people saying “it’s a weird comparison” or “nobody cross shops these.” Hogwash! You have a budget, you want the best car you can get. The whole market must be explored.
@@yungrichnbroke5199 haha I said that before someone said yOUr ComPaRing aPPles to OraNges. But yeah I think everything can be compared to anything. 987 cayman is the better car for me than the Emira
I think I'd take the Corvette - best value for the money. And it's the only one with a V8. The Lotus Emira would probably be my 2nd choice. Arguably the best looking out of the bunch with an amazing sounding (and reliable) Toyota engine
We should celebrate Lotus for developing an analog sports car in this day and age. It even has hydraulic steering. Even the new 86/BRZ can't boast that. If only I could afford one 😢
I'm a big Corvette fan and adore the Emira. I had one on order before purchasing the C8 Stingray. After 24 months of waiting, I was done. The only thing that would had made the Emira perfect would have been a LOTUS designed, engineered and built motor for last non aspirated car.
@ronretired282 lotus haven't built engines since the turn of the century. Trust me you wouldn't have wanted a lotus engine, they don't have the knowledge to build a decent one.
Without limit testing than its a moot point. The C8 simply wipes the floor with the other two cars at the limit, and that is a serious point of consideration. The Lotus rides on the Evora chassis and its a FULL generation behind. The Porsche in GT4 spec is CLOSE to a C8 match, but still loses on the performance metric.
Are stats all that matter? The Evora chassis has always been great - does old tech always mean worse? The Elise is an all time great chassis and it’s 20+ years old. The C8 is a phenomenal car, as stated and shown here. But there’s more to driving fun than at the limit stats gathering. Thanks for watching.
This is one of the best automotive sports car comparison videos I have ever seen! Really well done. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I've been a Porsche guy my whole life, owning many... but that Emira is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen (oh and it drives too).
I like your interweaving style of the two presenters. Keef would approve. I had a street-ported RX7 and never again will I go for a noisy car like the Emira, except for the occasional Sunday breakfast run.
My Emira test drive ticked all the right boxes for a true driver’s car. As a GT3 owner, the Emira was more fun and engaging on public roads without risk of jail time.
Really? Comparable to a porsche?
It's got better handling, better connection to the road, and lighter. But don't you miss the extra 2000RPMs of redline?
@@Anti-FreedomD.P.R.ofSouthKorea you don’t see 9k often on public roads even if you’re a hooligan. 2nd gear at 9000 rpm is +/-80mph. As intoxicating as it is, 6-7000 rpm’s is more frequent and still enjoyable.

That sounds like a PERFECT video format. Would be awesome if someone did that.

@Dave Paturno its a new car, theres always problems. Its how lotus deal with those problems that matters

The C8 Corvette looks the best inside and out. It has the best engine, beats the other two on the track..doesn’t have additional turbos or superchargers, is cheaper and ticks al the boxes…each to their own but the Lotus doesn’t come close.
All good points unless you are looking for driver engagement. If, that is the case then only the Emira or Cayman can satisfy that requirement.
That was a thorough review and well done, thanks.
Anyone who is confusing the C8 with Vette's of the past is not really a car guy.
True, I wasn’t enthused by any of the previous generation Corvette cars enough to buy one even though I could, but the C8 was a whole different story
Objective and real! Love the review. I've driven all three and have the Emria on order. It really is a car "for the drivers"
Glad this resonated with you. Thanks for watching!
How long have you been waiting for the Emira to arrive?
You made the best choice. I wish I could afford one....but I am a long ways off as I drive a 98 Nissan Sentra.....but at least it is under 2400 pounds and has a manual transmission.
Of the three, only the Corvette is dream car material for me.
Great car
It is the most "practical" especially in the states.
I just got mine a few weeks ago and it’s absolutely incredible
It's definitely the best in this test by far.
Completely agree!
A full race car has very little in common with it's road car other than the body. So it has nothing to do with comparing these road cars.
Stop with the lies. Everyone knows Corvettes can only go in a straight line. LOL

Sig I've had these last couple years in the Emira forum:
Emira v Cayman v C8: It's rock-paper-scissors where C8 and Emira are both scissors and Cayman is the paper.

Todd says, “I want it very badly.” Hahaha, I always find myself in his camp.
And now he has one!
My first car was an '89 Isuzu I-Mark RS which had Lotus suspension, or at least thats what it said on the side of the car.
The more I look at the lotus the more I start to like it. The design team at Lotus deserve a Nobel peace prize for that design looks like a 200 grand sports car.

A Toyota dealer can service it.
I'm so in love with the Cayman, I know it's just so right, but the hydraulic power steering of the Lotus calls me like a siren's song.
At this point markup should be dead on the base C8 unless it's a super rare/desirable spec, there are thousands sitting on dealer lots.
Even with a $10,000 markup, the C8 is still cheaper and far more sports car.
Was looking forward to this video since you mentioned it on the podcast. Very informative! Thank you.
Thanks for listening to the podcast and watching this when it dropped!
And to think a Camry V6 sounds like that!
Toyota's messing up not offering the Camry TRD with this exhaust and a stick. My dad had something like that called that a Taurus SHO.
Didn't know about your channel, absolutely love it immediately! Have to browse through your other vids now... Thx for the great, focused, beautifully shot and knowledgeable content!
We’re thrilled you found us and like what we do. Yes, we’ve been doing this for a long time and have lots of comparisons to watch. Thanks for being with us.
Can't wait for track version of Emira
It's called the Evora.
The 2 different perspectives is awesome I found myself agreeing and disagreeing with both drivers dope video
That’s what we hope for! We know that the different perspectives broaden the discussion and we’re glad it encouraged you to find your own take. Thanks for watching!
Thought I was watching a Motorweek retro-review.
Those are awesome!
I wonder if the Corvet having a stick shift will change your mind.
@@TRX25EX.lol . You have not driven any..
The Miata is a great car to drive and hone your track driving skills.
not mid engined.
There was a meme back in the day where someone removed the "C" from the Cayman badge and replaced it with a "G." lolol!!!
This is a weird comparison but I test drove the Emira and was not in love with it vs my 987 Cayman S. I thought it wasn't as fun to drive slow. But still an awesome car.
No cars are fun to drove slow these days unfortunately
I hate people saying “it’s a weird comparison” or “nobody cross shops these.” Hogwash! You have a budget, you want the best car you can get. The whole market must be explored.
@@yungrichnbroke5199 haha I said that before someone said yOUr ComPaRing aPPles to OraNges.
But yeah I think everything can be compared to anything.
987 cayman is the better car for me than the Emira
The gayman did nothing for me nor any other Porsche but everyone else likes them.
We had stingray / sold after 4 months . Now we got GTS and emira . Emira is a keeper .
I think I'd take the Corvette - best value for the money. And it's the only one with a V8. The Lotus Emira would probably be my 2nd choice. Arguably the best looking out of the bunch with an amazing sounding (and reliable) Toyota engine
It looks hideous tho
I think the evora was better looking jmo
VERY. WELL. DONE. You held my attention the entire time.
Glad to have you watching, thank you!
Where was this filmed? Need to add these roads and that scenery to my travel bucket list.
@@EverydayDriver There still is SPORTS in sports car, and neither of the other cars can come close to GMs Y chassis cars in that arena.
This is one of the best automotive sports car comparison videos I have ever seen! Really well done. I thoroughly enjoyed this. I've been a Porsche guy my whole life, owning many... but that Emira is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen (oh and it drives too).
The Cayman styling is my opinion a much cleaner uncluttered look inside and out than the other two
If you like to be invisible.
Porsches are overpriced and overrated. I take my hat off to their marketing and branding team.
Yes, the Cayman will also age better over time.
I like your interweaving style of the two presenters. Keef would approve. I had a street-ported RX7 and never again will I go for a noisy car like the Emira, except for the occasional Sunday breakfast run.
Lotus for me any day.
