In my opinion, this is the only and best Harley on the market, cause it still uses the EVOLUTION designed engine, well built and reliable, for many years of riding pleasure. It uses only METAL GEAR drive to operate the four cams, unlike the TWIN CAM, big bikes, with their Roller Chain Drive and NYLON (PLASTIC) cam chain tensioners, which are designed to be periodically inspected, (at a cost) and to be periodically replaced, (at a higher cost) when worn down, or crater the engine. Also, the Sporty uses a bolted together crankshaft, rather, than a pressed together crankshaft, on the big twins, which can twist out of true, on a hit or miss, basis, and crater the engine. The XL1200 also uses a right side final drive belt that is easy and inexpensive to change out in minutes, unlike the costly and time consuming procedure to change out a final drive, belt, on the big Twins. And since '04, all Sportys use rubber mounted engines to virtually eliminate the jarring jolts they used to deliver to one's kidneys and liver, in times past. Overall, a great bike to own.
FWIW, our shop hasn't had to replace a single chain tensioner in any 2007 or later twin cam. That said, I think this is the best bike they currently make and that includes the Milwaukee 8.
Great info and I'm very glad you all decided to review the Roadster, but simply a suggestion: maybe decide to leave out the engine noise that plays on throughout the entire video? It's good to hear how the bike sounds, but having it constantly on is quite irksome and made it harder to focus on what you were saying. Other than that, thanks for the vid!
You put it very, very kindly. This is how I put it: this fucking monotonous no-bass-whatsever GoPro audio recording in the background makes this video fucking unwatchable!
I've seen a Sportster with a set of mid-height riser bars that go up about 6" and drop off sharply - Kool. Tank is too small - definitely try to fit something larger. Possible to raise the pegs a tad for a 5'8 shorty?
3.1 gallon tank will take you about 140 mile range. I have leaned with far out floor boards and have just barely touched the tar on the road. Position of the foot pegs or in my case boards means you have to be careful of not banging up your shins. Soccer (Football) Shin Guards might be in order.
Is it possible for you to do a comparo between the Harley Roadster 1200 and the Bonneville T120? Am in the market to pick up a cruiser bike (for two-up riding) and it will be good to know which you think is better and why. The T120 obviously has a lot going for it, with all new technology and stuff like that, but this one is more iconic, hence the need for a comparison before I make an informed decision. If it is the Harley, I will get a better padded rear seat, a slightly taller handlebar, and a backrest. If the T120, I guess I can manage with just a backrest and radiator guard. Arijit (India)
thinkpol ... actually, the dislikes may not have anything to do with harley haters. I like Harleys but this video didn't live up to my expectations. The monotone and much too obvious scripted review fail to be engaging and the intermittent whistles (cat calls) really went over the gag limit. Motorcycles are are fun and exciting, that usually will promote enthusiasm instead of putting you to sleep. The constant engine noise just became irritating, because that's not what riding sounds like, there's idling, accelerating and gear changes--the rpm are not constant unless you're on long, straight and uninviting stretch.
@X Æ A-12 All comments are strange. I will tell you why I hate Harley. It is small, very hot, has many problems, slender tires, and the cushion is uncomfortable for long travel. For the information, my height is 181 cm and the weight is 93 kilograms. I think this bike is not suitable for me and the best is Suzuki C90T BOOS.

Ur review makes me buy one of those... Thank you from India
Like the ending! Like the idea of a Sportster with some ground clearance too.
aka BUELL
This motorcycle was so comfy sitting on it. Way more comfortable of a position than a bobber.
Roadster is the best sportster
picked one up around april this year, it makes my upgraded 2005 1200r look like a little bitch. that's how much improved it is. love the bike

I agree I had a hard time hearing him
Thought the same of this video and the last one I watched that had the same.

Funny it didn't bother me at all.
Check out the electric harley review..peace and quiet
The red is the only color I Haven't got to see in person on the roadster ..but it looks great on the others
1:30 nice Porsche 930
It's a 911, not a 930. Narrow body, no turbo.

exexpat11 I have a set of field hockey shin guards in the garage. Good value in hoarding after all.
Background noise?!
Sawmill? Waterfall?
Not sure about the grey aircleaner though 👍🏻
last one is epic 😎

Is it powerfull enough for 2 passenger in highway at 120kmh? Is it comfy enougj for a 1 hour 2 hour trip with passenger?
The only Harley I would get is the Low Rider.
Freddie riboni cool story
Can you get a larger tank for the 1200 Roadster? Peanut tank/120 Kay range not nearly enough in Australia.
He said 120 MILE range. That's 193 kilometres.
what's the song name when video starts
So many dislikes on the video.... I guess we found the Harley haters LOL
