Those sound quite tasty. Good for saving your expensive gear. I'm always slightly disappointed John when you don't disassrmble a pedal and then try to put it back together. In a crowded field it could be your usp 😊😊😊😊😊 Anyway, I'm off to G4M.
I couldn't buy just the parts you can see from the outside of one of those pedals (enclosure, jacks, knobs, pots) for that price (assuming they're good quality, long-lasting parts, which maybe isn't a consideration for shoppers-or distributors-at this price point). It had me wondering how much China may be subsidizing exports. I didn't spend a lot of time looking into it, but what I could quickly find was suprising. In recent years, China has been spending more on export subsidies than it does for its entire defense budget, in an effort to build dominance in trade. The electronics industry is one of its main targets for subsidies; I wouldn't think they explicitly target pedal manufacturing (!), but pedals are probably manufactured at plants that just do generic consumer electronics manufacturing, and may be subsidized for that reason. It's hard to see how this price point could be reached without subsidies, unless they are paying their laborers next to nothing (which I don't believe is happening in China to the extent it used to). It would be interesting to hear a pedal manufacturer give solid numbers on what it takes to build the same pedal in China vs. the US or Europe, and what they know about the causes for the difference (e.g., whether it's labor, subsidies on exports, tariffs on imports, etc.). FWIW, I noticed some hum during the chorus demo. I expect to hear some hum from overdrives (with the pedal gain amplifying what bit of hum may be in the clean signal), but not from a chorus pedal. There were only a few seconds of sound with the pedal off, and I didn't notice any hum then. It could all boil down to the single coil pickups and the orientation of the guitar, with the hum being present in the "clean" signal. But it had me wondering about the power supply. -Tom
@@sharkair2839 Caline has these exact circuits, and they have a delay for $28.80 new, on Reverb right now. It’s called the Time Space. Control over Mix, Time and Repeats For $70, they have one with seven different delay types. Or for $50, they have a duo delay. One side digital reverb, one side analog delay. The Hartwood Chorus, is likely the Caline Wave Machine.
I can remember buying "cheap" pedals (not to me on pocket money terms) back in the early 80s and they were £25-£30 back then. The "pro" pedals were BOSS and you dreamed of one of them on the floor in front of you lol. Now with a HeadRush, Tonex and about 20 pedals from cheap to the amazing EHX String 9 and Keely Halo, I am in GAS heaven with every sound at my fingertips. BUT the cheap pedals are the most fun to use from a Behringer Fuzz to some no name Klon clone. Hot damn, I wish I was 18 again today, but then I'd be too broke to buy anything. Gah... the time/money paradox 😂
@@martin-1965 Actually been wanting to grab that Behringer Fuzz. Between plugins on my pc, my HX Stomp and my pedal collection I can have a nearly infinite amount of sounds. I am looking at getting that Benson Germanium boost and a good midi controller to wrangle all my stuff. I got bit by the Strymon bug, my two favorite pedals are my Volante and my Deco v2. But you have to think, as far as production goes, pedals are a lot more simple than say a TV or a motherboard. Easy to make cheap.
@@masterofreality230 I know, its mad really and quite wonderful :) Totally recommend the Behringer Fuzz. Haven't tried any of the others, but its definitely got the fiiz and pop most people want. Basically a complete ripoff of the Boss version for £20 lol
@@martin-1965 Well, I have looked into building a couple pedals. Some of them are very simple, but lots of those take germanium diodes, and I hear it can be hard to source them. Another issue is that shipping is high. The electronics arent heavy! lol Things are so cheap to buy, you cant even build certain pedals cheaper than you would pay a company.

I’m not usually a fuzz fan. But. Really liked that fuzz.
Omg try the hartwood original guitars!!!
I would like an echo preferably, or reverb.

They are all rebranded Caline, Gokko, Donner or Demonfx pedals and the PSU too.
Vintage Fuzz and you have use buffer at the front ;)
cool.
Why would they include chorus over delay 🙄
a nice digital delay would be sweet.

Lots of inexpensive pedals and kits at the moment... Anderton's showed "Landlord" pedals or 30 quid each
Still have the mini hangover reverb great little Mooer beater!
Why do I feel like I am doing a deal in a back alley here? lol Some cheap pedals are great.

JHS stans crying when they see these prices 😂
I hate Chorus pedals. Give me a Reverb dammit. 😆
I like chorus pedals. But, still, give me a reverb before you give me a chorus!
Hey maybe you should stop talking about the prices of things... doesnt seem to work out for you.
