The DIY method definitely works better with thick wavy hair that can hide imperfections. Never do it with naturally straight hair LOL
or shorter hair. like shoulder length or less. cause if you do mess it up you have little to work with to fix it. but if your hair is longer you can always do ponytails, buns etc until you can get to a pro
coming from a person who had thick wavy hair and tried an at home hair cut... that shit was NOT cute, my ends were really jagged

my hair is long, thick, and wavy/curly and I have been using the first method for a couple years now. it looks better with longer layers and the curls look bomb
Unicorn cut worked for my 3a hair, but i just wanted rid of my ends so didn't cut as high. No idea what it looks like straightened but it works for me

The first girl had wavy hair. I know from cutting my 3 year old's hair thay wavy hair is extremely forgiving. The waves hide blunt ends and the odd shelves.
My hair is wavy and curly on the back and I cut my hair and Its forgiving like a cloud.
Same with coily hair.....the number of times I've butchered my hair and it turned out okay, is unbelievable.
I literally just did this unicorn cut on my hair yesterday and I’m not mad at it at all!! I have curly hair though so very forgiving on me.
I've been on the fence about it because my curls go from ringlets one day to flat waves the next and I don't want the v shape. I'm glad it worked out for you! I think his looks bad because of not brushing and because he didn't have the hair all the way it at the front hairline.
I just unicorn cut my hair a couple weeks ago hahah. It's really only meant for long, thick, curly hair....that's why the mannequin is SO butchered. My hair is curling way better now lol. I would like to give it some extra clean up, but it's good for now
I did the unicorn cut a couple weeks ago, and my bangs last night. My hair has natural waves so the cut actually enhances the waves, BUT I did get a bit "happy" cutting the bangs and they are a bit shorter then I normally cut them LOL. Still even if I straighten my hair it won't look anything like the poor manniquin. Gotta get the pony tail as smooth as possible so the cut won't be choppy.

I actually did it guys! I used his "how to cut your hair at home without butchering it" video method for the back of my hair and free cut the front and I'm loving having those split ends gone... and the other 9 inches 🤭👌

Phoenix Cobban it took me getting PREGNANT for my hair to grow at all. Then it grew 6 inches in less than half a year. Yeah hasn’t grown since, and my kid is 4 and I JUST bleached my hair this year. Other than that I’ve done nothing to it except TREAT IT SO WELL. IT BETRAYS ME CONSTANTLY. So I will NEVER get bangs ever. My hair refuses to flourish I’m not gonna fuck it up even more
