Pokemon Pearl was the first one I ever owned, and I remember it took me like. 6 years to beat the Sinnoh League- but I was consistently sidetracked and trying to level up pokemon. I remember I was only able to beat Cynthia after a full reset and picking a different starter. I think Torterra was just kind of a bad choice against her.
they're just animating and maybe they were inspired by Jaiden or Danplan or someone like that. Don't criticize them for having a style similar to the animation giants. that's a talent.
