Luke sealed the deal when he told Grogu an entire life time for others is just a short time for you. Right then and there, Grogu realized he could spend time for the rest of Mando's life and then complete his Jedi training. Luke did NOT say that the choices are mutually exclusive. He was alerting Grogu to the fact that training to be a Jedi could take so much time that Mando might not be around by the time Grogu completes his training. Ergo, Luke was saying...if you want to see your friend, now would be the time to do it and YOU unlike most of us, have a LOT of time!

I kind of miss the legends version of the Jedi for the New Republic. They embraced attachment, were allowed to have families. Think about what would have happened to Anakin if he was allowed to have his relationship with Padame and still been allowed to be a Jedi.
Imagine if he picked the lightsaber then became a Jedi then went to the Mando and he helped him fight and like bounty hunt that would've been the best duo in the Mando history
