    I made it to the top of half dome this past Saturday with my dad and my brother, and it was the most difficult and grueling hike I'd ever been on, worse than the 10 mile(one way) 11,503' EV of San gorgonio I'd recently done, but it was well worth it and it was the most amazing experience of my life, I was brought to tears as I set up top of half dome looking down on Yosemite valley, flooded with overwhelming sensations of accomplishment and peace and joy/satisfaction, a moment I will forever cherish, until next time 😊.

    I've been at the Yosemite Nat. Park in 94, and I really loved it. I hope I could go back there again.
    I just found this documentary today, and love it. I don't know how come there wasn't any comments so far. It's an amazing docummentary.

    I been to Yosemite just about all my life. Lost count around 50 visits, and I never got to go up to the top of Half Dome, but have made it to the top of Nevada Falls, but I sure have this hike/climb on top of my list I have for my lifetime goals. I been to the top of many peaks and now as a cancer survivor, I will continue to get better, and will reach Half Dome. I know Im not the only survivor to want to do it, but the day I do, will be a great personal victory for me. o:)

    Bright Angel trail is great. do it in early spring or fall season here in the US, otherwise it gets way too hot in the summer time. did that hike early last year, it was awesome.

    I put the sight of the Yosemite Valley as one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL things I have seen in my life! You go into a tunnel in a mountain and come out of the tunnel to the view of this "Garden of Eden" valley.

    • @martyspargur5281
      @martyspargur5281 6 лет назад

      BBukeye1 Please remember the tunnel is the perfect place to switch over to "Valley Time". That means, while you might enter the tunnel at around 40mph, you'll want to come out the east end at no more than 25. That way you won't cause a pileup as you try to make that left turn into the panorama turnoff. There is no penalty for driving slow after that. You will still get your tent cabin, and you'll have shed all the baggage of civilization before you hit the valley floor. The road turns into two lanes heading up the valley after that, so all the folks who can't remember why they came can safely pass, who cares, YOU'RE LIVING IT!

    I love Ranger Johnson's comment - "some rocks have it and some rocks don't". I really enjoy his insight into the park.

    They need some kinda safety platform there at that top of half dome. Those rock slabs may look big and safe but they could slide. If you fell it would be like falling from the empire state building 5 times higher.

    • @martyspargur5281
      @martyspargur5281 6 лет назад +2

      Actually they don't look safe, because they're not. Check out the Yosemite Fall vid, where you are Between, not behind, the railing and eternity. So yes, you will need to use a little common sense. I'm pretty sure the people descending under gathering storm clouds are aware that lightning storms are of an electrical nature, and most electrical wires back home are made out of metal. You know, like cables!

      @@tonycat721 Sorry for the snark. If you start early in the morning, use the car park closest to Happy Isles, near Half Dome Village and the Upper Pines campground. If these are full (usually by mid-morning) you could try the main parking structure in Yosemite Village and take the free shuttle to Happy Isles. Good luck!
