$3300 is a ton of money! That's like 25% of the whole collection being "free" haha, nice work! I'm still working on my PC and some buying and selling my unneeded cards before I start flipping bigger stuff. Keep up the great content man
That’s nothing compared to how much money vendors save buying from people at 70% and taking in trades at 80% . Most vendors will give each other discounted prices on large purchases while you , me and every other John Doe trying to grow our collection is lucky to get $20 discounted from market value
Totally! I'm also in the process of culling out some of the PC, sometimes at a loss but happy to keep the money moving around into stuff I actually do want. Some of the stuff I buy (~10% in earlier vids, ~40-50% in more recent ones) is to resell, but the profit from it is to fund the PC. So while I can save about $1k/mo on the PC buying this way, I can also turn about $1k of profit each month selling stuff at good prices because I bought them at better prices. That $2k monthly delta really might make my PC "free" over time! :D
Thank you for another style of video. It's been a great journey to watch your collection grow and the interactions you have with people. Would be great to see your gold star collection soonTM :)
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed! The gold star collection is doing decent! I'm not planning to master set them, I think I'm gonna settle on getting the 3 delta species GS and the 3 Gen 1 eeveelutions as I'm trying not to end up with an absolutely ridiculous collection I can't properly enjoy lol!
$10 off a card doesn’t seem much, but when you do it all the time you’ll save good money. Love the video portraying that it is always good to get a little off the price! Keep it up!
Shows are awesome for buying PC cards. No sales tax or shipping and you can get a nice intimate look at the condition on the card. And bonus is you can build those personal relationships with the sellers so they will want to give you more discounts in the future too.
this is what I was doing at the last show with prices and trade value and it adds up like crazy just gotta get those higher end girl trainer cards now but that Ericka is Japanese is so goooooooooood nice job love this content
@@cedsaurus thanks for watching! I do, but most days I dont find that process especially fun so it’s almost never a focus for me. Typically i only send about 15-25 cards a month to PSA. Recently because i got into vending card shows, i took more in and sold a bunch and got back to buying a bunch so i came across a lot more i wanted to grade, but that’s atypical for me.
@oyamastrading thats awesome. I hope to see more vids from you!! Theyre really relaxing and fun to watch. Its nice to see the comparable prices too. I recently started getting more serious into pokemon collecting and investing. Its really fun! Thanks man
im trying to get into buying pokemon cards, are you buying a lot of these raws to get them graded in order to sell them for more? also, how do you go about finding the cards you want to buy? do you have a hit list while you're going there or do you just look the cards up when you're there and see where some money can be made?
When I buy modern raw cards in the $10-20 range it’s for grading. Most of the rest is just for my collection, or to flip (i.e. buy at 80% market, sell at 90% market, make $5-50 net). For grading I have memorized a hit list by studying what $10-20 cards have a $60-200 PSA 10. Otherwise I usually gameplan a bit prior. But always leave room to just see something I like and am willing to buy as long as I get a good price!
@@oyamastrading i really appreciate your response. I watch these videos for hours and I always wonder the mindset behind some purchases/trades. You're the first one to explain it and i appreciate that!

The key is to buy in bulk so you can get better percentages.
That's usually how I buy online! At card shows sometimes it's hard logistically to buy like 50-100 individual items from a vendor at once
