Nearing the end-game of the next-gen version now I'd say the most effective steel sword progression through the game is: Thousand Flower sword from the chest in Vizima after making an account on the game launcher (can't use the sword yet but hold onto it), Viper steel sword from levels 2-6, use Thousand Flowers sword from 7-9, get Blade from the Bits sword from the "Of Swords and Dumplings" quest in Novigrad; since it levels with you you'll comfortably use Blade from the Bits all the way until around lvl 20 when you begin asking your allies for help with the final stand against the Wild Hunt. Now go talk with the King of Skellige and he'll give you the Winter's Blade which is just a better version of the Blade from the Bits. This is all you need to get through the game and requires no upgrading and like a total of 250 coin.
Thanks dude! I've got the legendary viper swords
This Channel is Criminally Underrated, I started Playing this Game after I have my Own PC long after 7 years of Losing my old one and This game is really what I was waiting to get my hands on
Thanks for this guide. I have started playing this game for the first time, as well as this is first action game I play since 2015. I already have the diagrams and crafted the steel sword, but cannot find any silver in game. I had no idea that I can buy and use silver powder! Thanks again!
New subscriber. New player. New gamer, actually. Thanks for all this fantastic info!! Been watching videos like this for months now just because I don't have the proper set up to play TW3. Played through TW1 and will jump into TW2 soon so in the meantime I'm working on a plan to gather the best gear n supplies early on.
That is possibly the best tip ever (for me). Thank you!!
yea they're pretty solid swords ended up using the silver sword all the way up like lvl 16 cause i finally got the cat school gear around that level. Didn't know all witcher gear swords had an experience boost so I would have switched sooner if I knew. not to mention the witcher gear usually has by far the best stats and look decent cause it doesn't make you look like a fucking court jester well I guess the grifin chest piece kinda does but whatever.
@WhoDarestheMAN gamer I never really bothered with signs cause they' seem fairly weak instead I went for pure alchemy and fast attack damage. I can pretty much one shot all enemies. It's gotten to the point I just use the wrong sword on enemies to make it more difficult. Still does piss poor damage but if I charge my sword with igni or aard using the replenishment enchantment from the runewright I can still kill enemies with relative ease. Besides with my build I can add like 240% to my signs just with euphoria. All it really does at 100% is activate the sign effect every time or duration so no point going over 100%. I think hands down the best armor is the ursine cause even on death march with level scaling gaurds will tickle you and you'll heal faster than they can damage you with the right build. I dont use it cause its ugly though and I'm disgustingly over leveled so there isnt really anything that's much of a threat to me anymore. About to start the dlc quests at like level 51 when the recommended is 30 so oops. I grinded pretty hard by killing red skull enemies in the beginning since my damage was so high the damage reduction penalty didnt affect me. Still easily got one shot but 67 exp for killing mob enemies was nice
Finally actual "early game" swords! Thanks dude
I bought The Witcher 3 and I already restarted because I was too weak so thank you for the tips, you have a really good quality for a small RUclipsr
Thank you really appreciate it!
Quality content !! Thanks :)
Nice one! Just started playing Witcher 3 for the first time . Great tips, will try thus out
@@stalzemsty1669 Oh yeah, epic story, quests and character arcs. It's a brilliant game. Enjoy!
Great video brother 👍 Subscribed!
Thank you much appreciated
Heynow : Overall i believe that the Witcher Gear at early level ( mostly armor ) are the best until unlocking the dlc's 🎮 the Aerondight is the best Silver Sword & there's a Couple of Relic Steel swords with tons of bonuses depending on you're Play style 🕹 Either way Thanx for Posting 🇵🇹
Great videos! Thank you for the help
850 Captain thank you!!
Top notch content!! Keep it up
Thanks my dude appreciate it!!
Great videos of Witcher game , I subscribed right now
Thanks for the tips. What do you recommend for putting in the slots of the weapon? Just started playing this on PC and the Switch. I did 👍🏻and subscribe and your channel will grow quickly. Surprised you don’t have more subs.
thank you!! appreciate the support! and really anything you want in the beginning of the game dosnt really make a difference but i usually roll with either a rune stone that causes burning or freezing because it can have a chance to slow down enemies, really helps at higher difficulties when you have greater number enemies coming at you
Hambone Gaming Thanks for the response. I watched the video again and you did answer my question in the beginning of the video. 🤦🏼♂️
Lucky boi yu got console commnd bad fr me I dnt got any an I miss viper gear ☹️
Much love fam. 😊
Cool channel i just Subscribed
Thx bro, best strat game vid ;)
Thanks for a very helpful guide, Hambone. 👍
The greatest problem I have is that question marks do not show on the map unless I am right next to the spot. If I leave, the question marks leave too until I get back on the spot right next to, or at, their location. And this is the so called next gen version of the game. When I first played Thw Witcher 3 immediately after it came out, I didn't have this problem. I have turned on Points of Interest, but aparently that just means they'll show when you literally walk across them.
Anybody else have this issue?
I had an odd encounter at the cemetary. When I arrived a lvl 7 wraith was there and attacked me (I'd just hit lvl 3 and have none of the Viper swords yet, but I could still have taken her out). I quickly got her white life bar down to zero, but I couldn't get the faded yellow bar "beneath" it down to zero. Every time I was close to killing her the yellow bar would refill itself a part of the way. In short, I simply could not kill her - and believe me, I kept trying for a long time, seeing her bar go way down and then back up, way down and back up, over and over again.
- Oh, and there's another strange thing: While I do have the Viper quest on my list, and I can turn it on, but there are no points to follow. No orange circles anywhere. So I've assumed we're supposed to simply stumble across the quest locations.
I began to wonder if I'm supposed to get a quest that sends me to bury her remains (I seem to remember something like that with a wraith), but I don't remember if there is such a quest in White Orchard.
PS. No, it's not because I'm old and have impaired vision that I can't see the PoI.s, my vision works completely fine if I remember to put on my glasses. ;)
Good luck bro, great video
Thank you
@@HamboneGaming_ 👍
Good video, thanks. New subscriber.
Thank you appreciate the support, have much more I'm working on
Fun fact: you can just ignore that wraith aard the door and enter. It won't respawn (cause you didn't kill it) and when you come out if you're careful you can get the skill point without it spawning again. Which if you are level one and new is great.
Do you know why the Viper school side quest didn't start for me after finding diagram in dungeon?
Going to do this now! You better be correct on every single tiny aspect or there will be serious consequences! :P Things like...me dying many times and wasting hours of gameplay lol
Great video. Didn’t see this video till level 11 would you say that these are still relevant now or go for something better ?
Nope still relevant
Awesome thank you !
@@redrel21 no prob :)
Going to use this when I start playing tonight. First time
It's a huge help these 2 swords make a big difference
I completed all the steps including the diagram but when I go to quests it says that its complete but has a "suggested level 6" which I dont understand. I'm still on level 1 and have completed all the question marks and have done about 8 side quests.I have the steam version with the expansion paks. And another thing when going to options and gameplay their is no option for controlling the 4 difficulty levels. Am I missing something? Thanx in advance.
Is that silver sword better than the moon one? (The one from in the water)Also hope you keep pumping out witcher 3 vids. Got ya self a new sub. Cheers mate.
bluzen spyder thank you for the support!! really appreciate it! and by the time i saw this post, i already dropped a new vid on the MoonBlade and did a quick comparison of both swords but they both have different perks that make each sword unique, as that said i still always roll with the moonblade for the 3 rune slot and the critical hit damage!
@@HamboneGaming_ you're welcome. Iv decided I'll get this game when I have the coin, trying to map out a bit of a "starter strat" as I know I'm going to get lost playing it. 😁
Cheers for the fast reply mate.
just use witcher gear in general. The exp boost is really worth it. my first playthrough I was level 32 at 112 hrs on my second I was 47 at 112 hrs. You level up incredibly slowly in this game so a 15 level difference is fucking massive of course it also helps that I have a strong enough build to grind on red skull enemies but still with a trophy and the 20% bonus on the silver sword you level up 25% faster when killing monsters. only thing is don't bother with monsters weaker than you or 2-3 levels higher. They'll only give you like 2 exp. redskull enemies like 10 levels higher will give you 50 a pop normally and 63 with the bonuses. The damage penalty is like exponentially tied to your level though so the greater the difference in level the less damage you can deal and the more you receive so you need to have a really solid build if you don't want to tickle them to death while risking getting one shot killed. looking at the base stats of my sword i was dealing around 12 times the damage i normally would have been dealing by level 15 which is why I could still kill them despite the penalty. Honestly the base stats of a weapon don't matter as much as your skills, mutagens and decoctions so don't worry to much. I used the viper sword up until level 16 no problem cause I didn't know all witcher gear had the exp boost at witch point I finally switched to the cat school gear to further enhance my build.
Doing my first play through and these swords were clutch. Especially the viper silver sword.
Dont you mean: exxxxpecially?
Hey mate, how long till you release the Velen sword video? I just got there and im on my second play through! Not keen to wait lol
Sam Boswell i’ll be releasing it later tonight, and i mean like later lol i’m at work and i don’t get off until 10:40pm, couldn’t get the vid uploaded before work! but i’ll have it upload asap
@@HamboneGaming_ awesome thanks mate! Loved your video btw
Sam Boswell much appreciated my dude thank you
Velen sword? you mean the generic swords that bandits usually drop? unless you mean moonblade. I don't really bother with relic weapons since witcher gear is usually stronger and rune effects almost never tick unless you stack the same high level rune into all three slots. you're better off just enchanting weapons at the runesmith from the hearts of stone dlc. Also if you want a relic weapon just go around doing contracts or destroying monster nest they'll usually drop one.
Great 👍
can you get the materials needed to craft the new swords by dismantling the old swords?
Did everything as it told here looting all locations and then it appears 1 viper and the other is something else , also for the viper missing some poison potion which i can't craft 😃
These blades are vicious in the early game. I sometimes keep the Viper steel sword until I get the Forgotten Vran at Level 10.
wait, i got the forgotten vran, and the stats on the sword seem really bad. i dont understand why you use it? i unlocked this whilst being level 5 or 6 from doing a witcher contract
@@norbertkosc7847 generic non pre determined quest weapon stats are based on your current level when obtained. So if your level 5 or 6 when you get it will be different than level 10 and then it's set to those stats for the play through. Its a way to not penalize you for getting ahead on level but vice versa theres no pro to going out of your way and getting it early...so its a double edge sword, pun intended lol.. This applies to buy from shop weapons as well stats go up as you level. Crafted weapons are what they are regardless of player level so to best utilize them you will want to obtain them as soon as your level allows you to equip. I try to plan ahead and start gathering or crafting a level or 2 before I can equip so it's ready it to go. And usually I just do this with witcher gear specifically. Since these viper witcher swords are crafted and have set stats and can be equiped at lv1 its best to get them immediately before your level past where they are useful.
is it still recommended to get these swords right after you leave white orchard? ( At lvl 4 )
Would the Viper swords be good substitutes for the Moonblade and Headhunter in Velen? I didn't realize these have bonus xp and I could really use those. Of course, this is assuming I can go back to White Orchard after heading to Velen after Vizima. Can I do that?
Yes you can and to be honest the relics (meaning moonblade and headhunter) are just as good most of the time I only swap out the silver sword viper for the moonblade but keep the steel viper, but they are all a good choice and the best starting weapons, if you are say level 8 or higher I wouldn't worry about going back to get them unless you just want to collect the vipers, once I hit lvl 11 and higher I roll with the griffin gear
Don’t forget the Windmill!! You can get a lot of silver dust from there
Hi first timer here. How do you unlock the door to the windmill? Also remember finding a couple of chest underground on a house nearby but only one of those chests was locked
You can't unlock the windmill door but regarding the lock chest there is a body underwater right near a bridge around the southwest of the map it has a marker the key is in the chest there
@@HamboneGaming_ Awesome! thanks! Honestly it's a little overwhelming playing the first time this game so your videos are very helpful!
No problem man, it definitely can be
Gourmet and strong back are only available with the dlc's
Can someone tell me the name of the longest sword in the game. I saw a pic on Google and the witcher had a long ass sword on his back going down pass his knees.does anyone know it?
Just started playing this game first time ever. Viper are hard to craft as they cost so much. I crafted the silver but had to spend a lot to buy emerald dust from Nilfgaard smith.
That's the point its a way to reward your hard work and craftiness, pun intended lol. So yes its not easy, takes alot of aggressive gathering and selling everything you gathered that's not needed to obtain the craft items right off the bat while lv1 still.
how long should you wear these swords for? would it be worth wearing them till like lvl 11? and then get the gryphon sword
Yes it is worth it, unless you get the moonblade for the time being but honestly witcher gear is always you're best option, whether it be weapons or armor
Is the Griffin gear okay to craft at level 11? Or better use this sword? Planning to do the sign build
If your looking to do a sign build then Griffin armor is the way to go, and yes build the Griffin armor at level 11, I always build the 2 viper swords in the beginning then once I'm level 11 I make my Griffin gear
@@HamboneGaming_ thank you!
No problem, hope it helped
hey im lvl 6... and i cant craft both of em :( Fergus isnt ´cappable´ of crafting... and no smith in nilf camp.....
I unlocked these but don’t have the resources to make them but I’m restarting 👍
I actually had to dismantle my equipped silver sword to get the last bit of silver I needed to craft the Viper version on my most current playthrough, LOL.
Those stats are pretty good for a level 1 requirement
Instead of the gourmet why not the regen one??
I do not know what I done with steel viper - not see any craft recipe but seems I killed the mob and looted everything ,Perhaps sold it or ... Anyway , I have all mats and seems can craft Silver but no blacksmith yet able to do it . Where I have to go to craft it?:
If you are still in white orchard go the to nilfgaurdian outpost, it will be part of main quest line anyway and the blacksmith there can make the swords for you, if past white orchard and now in velen head to crows perch
Check out previous witcher 3 Tips & Tricks Video, Things you wish you knew earlier! ruclips.net/video/SJ3c1jXFwBM/видео.html
Where do I get Venom extract
I'm level 9 which is the best sword for this level
So, Ive found the two sword blueprints like in the vid but where do you go to MAKE the damn things?
In white orchard the merchant in the nilfgaurdian camp can create them or crows perch in velen
@@HamboneGaming_ forgot about the nilfgardian camp 😅 thanks
Haha no prob
Hi Friend...Those Viper Swords are level 1....If You are level 6 do those swords will be level 6 too when I get Them ???
Finding this now but I’m in Velen at level 4. Still worth going back to do it? Seems like it?
Definitely, also if you like to collect everything to
Hambone Gaming also just saw ur vid re. relic sword and moonblade so I guess I’ll those grab those after as well. You make solid content man keep it up
@@valamorosana6385 thank you much appreciated, yea between the witcher and upcoming cyberpunk game its been busy

my dumbass liyerally didnt dragged the ability to the empty slot at the right side of the mutagens thats why i keep wondering why my abilitues dont work no more
Do more Witcher videos🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
I Germ I have more on the way!
*Laughs in Aerondight and Iris*
3:11 guide finally starts
Damn, both Viper Swords at 1st level?? How the hell did you do the Wraith, I’d have figured a Skull enemy in the beginner levels to be nearly impossible. I play on Death March, is this even possible?
Edit: You did it on Death March, goddamn.
my "general" branch dont include half those perks wtff
Can’t find silver man where do u get silver for crafting swords
You can buy it from the vendors, dwarf Willis if you are still in white orchard.. or the quartermaster in nilfgaurdian camp, you can craft silver dust into bars, but honestly just loot as much as you can all around white orchard you'll find it
What level would you recommend to stop using the viper set? I'm level 10 now. If I go and get them wohld it help me out or not really?
I would recommend getting them right when you start a new game because there are a lot better sword to get around level 10, once you hit Level 11 you can Unlock Griffin school gear and I recommend the Griffin steel and silver sword around that level, but I collect everything so I'd definitely go and grab the diagrams just in general lol
I do have another video on how to get the Griffin gear I'm going to upload how/where to find the enhanced Griffin gear soon as well
Aaahh thats why, i cant find it anymore
the exp boosts on kills are irrelevant, since the base exp on kills is really small.Majority of exp is from finishing guests and contracts
depends how you play. if your build is weak you won't be able to grind against high level enemies. usually a 10 or more level difference will give you 50 a pop without the bonuses but with it it's about 67 at least from what I've seen on average (hard to be consistent with the level differences and different enemy types). it's amazing how much faster I leveled up on my second playthrough where I actually used witcher gear instead of all the random garbage i found. first playthrough I was 32 at 112 hrs second I was about 47 at 112 hrs. guess its cause I leveld through quest on my first one and leveled mainly through grinding on my second since I learned how to play it properly. without bonuses it takes me about 20 redskull enemies to level up with them it's 15 instead not much of a difference but it adds up.
What’s the intro somg
Subbed, because ham.
For some reason mine doesn’t have 15% chance to poison
Really, what's it have? Everytime I get it has a 15% poison chance but, weapons and gear do vary in the game sometimes depending on level you are
@@HamboneGaming_ ah, sorry. I just miss-looked it.
Im level 12 and i still havent unlocked gourmet i only have the first 2 rows in the category
You can unlock gourmet at anytime
Hambone Gaming could you tell me how?
Its in your yellow skill tree must have blood and wine dlc, once you get an ability point go to that yellow tree and find gourmet and unlock it
Here is a beginning tips vid I did and talk about gourmet and where its located as long as you have the dlc hope this all helps ruclips.net/video/SJ3c1jXFwBM/видео.html
Hambone Gaming thank you, much appreciated. Will warch for sure but sadly dont have the dlc yet
Where can i get more silver this early
Literally loot everything, there are chest underwater in white orchard also there is a hidden chest in an abandon house by the windmill, if I remember right there is some silver in them, also buying it from the nilfgaurdian weaponsmith, it will about take all the silver you can find in white orchard
@@HamboneGaming_ THANK YOU! Had 4 silver dust to make ore so I hit up the mill and the chest had 5. Just need one more so heading to all the nearby ? around the area.

Moonblade is stronger.
Moonblade is great, I did make a video on the moonblade to but can't get it until you reach Velen, these 2 are great for White Orchard and still good through Velen but yes MoonBlade is great
