    Nice Nylox, I bought a 1957 about 5+ years ago and restored it. Took the 18hp Evinrude off and put a 40hp Merc on it. I Love it

    You have a really nice boat and motor. It is a common sense approach to getting out on the water on a budget.

    I just purchased the same boat. I can’t wait to take it out and give it some love.

    Let me tell ya that boat is pretty cool it's got class like an old 50"s Chevy. I'd go over it with a couple of coats of fibre glass and some touch ups here and there and you got a classic. She's a keeper for sure.oh dude you have to go black with flames and a bit of chrome to finish up and then SWEET

    I have a 1981 Citation Marquis. 16' LOA and 7' Beam. It's been totally gutted (I paid $250 for it and the trailer) and I'm thinking about sealing up the I/O in the stern and converting it to an outboard. The little 5hp LEHR drives that 1959 Nylox really nicely. Wondering how well it would drive a larger boat, like mine. I could always step up to the next larger model, if needed... not looking to push the boat like the original Mercruiser 120 did (when it was working; it was rusted and corroded beyond hope; pulled it and the outdrive. Was planning on going all electric i/o, but maybe this route will be sufficient; certainly cheaper!) :-D

      A boat that size will be better off with a 9.9 over a 5. but closing off the back and adding a small outboard shouldn't be too difficult, and you can build a fish holding tank where the motor used to be.

    How heavy and how loud is that Leir engine ?

    • @SmallCraftCruising
      @SmallCraftCruising  5 лет назад

      that's a great question. I will do a video comparing it to my new Suzuki 25 HP.. the LEHR is louder than you'd expect.

    What size engine is on it at the moment?

      No engine right now, i'm looking for something around 20 HP for it. Short shafts in 4-stroke are not so common.

      Small Craft Cruising look for a tohatsu if you’re getting a 20hp 4 stroke as all the new outboards under 25hp are built by tohatsu no matter what brand name is on it.

      Bubba Barber I'm interested.. 4-stroke? California has lots of limitations on 2-strokes.
