Our STRAY KIDS don't miss. Don't be mistaken, don't be misled, our boys are unique in the K-pop industry as they write and have a hand in producing 99% of their songs. This is not common.
They are fantastic lyricists who are huge on wordplay.
8 very talented young men. They have been doing this since they were 16 to 20. 6 years later they are still just 22 to 26 and over 180 songs strong (released) but we all know they have many more than that.
BANG CHAN (CHRIS) Australian, leader and genius just turned 26. He has over 165 songs registered with KOMCA, and is ranked 1st for 4th gen and 6th overall. He left Australia and his family when he was just 13 to pursue his dream, that is half a lifetime ago. He is multi talented and JYP had enough faith in him to allow him to choose his own members for his own group. Once Chan felt they were ready they were put through a survival show to see if each member would make it. Eventually, they all did. CHAN has full control over the group, the name, the fandom name even the logo is his hand writing.
LEE KNOW born in Korea was born to dance. Has been dancing since very young. Was in a dance crew for 6 years, competed at the World of Dance in 2016, back up dancer for BTS. Completed the basic dance course at JYP in a record 2 weeks. National Geographic super star. 😅 Cat Dad cat 🐈⬛️🐈🐾He was just 25 in October.
CHANGBIN, a rapping giant. Korean. Was the fastest 4th gen rapper until recently at 9.75 syllables per second with his collab Mirror Mirror with Millie and F HERO. Singing voice of an angel. His vocal coach suggested he try out rapping due to his vocal tone and a genius was created. Flow switches, cadences.... unbelievable. He has over 147 songs registered with KOMCA, which puts him right behind Channie and 10th overall. Face of SAMSUNG in Korea. He just turned 24 in August.
HAN. Born in Korea but grew up in Malaysia. He is the ACE of K-pop. He doesn't just RAP, SING, DANCE WRITE and PRODUCE, he excels at it all. Very funny, empathetic and a genius. He is not far behind Binnie at 9.13 syllables per second but man, what he can do is simply amazing. He also has just over 143 songs with KOMCA making him 3rd behind the other 2 and 11th overall. He just turned 23.
CHAN, CHANGBIN and HAN are the producing team. They are known as 3RACHA. They have songs in their own right as 3RACHA away from Stray Kids. They were the foundation of the group.
HYUNJIN born in Korea. He was street casted by a scout whilst shopping with his mother just for the way he looked. He had no skills at the time. He has grown into a monster performer. I love his style of RAP. His singing is developing beautifully and he is the 1st prince of K-pop for visuals and dance. He moves like water, fluidly. He is also a LLAMA, drama llama, but we love him for it 😅 Versace Global Ambassador. ARTIST, and our newest producer. He just turned 23 in March.
FELIX, Australian, always loved to dance. Moved to Korea by himself when he was 17 without knowing Korean. He is the deep voice and our Sunshine. He is regularly found rapping on the tracks but lately has more singing parts. His range goes from low to high and is known for beat boxing and being the most non-annoying mosquito. 😅 Louis Vitton House Ambassador. He turned 23 the day after HAN. We call them our sunshine twins.
SEUNGMIN, Korean. Has the most unique vocal tone. Very serious/diligent artist, always strives for improvement and just when you think he's the best he can be he surprises us again. Has several OSTs for K DRAMAS and is my favourite singer in the group. He also just turned 23.
I.N. (YANG JEONG-IN) Korean. The MAKNAE (Youngest) of the group. Funnily enough probably the most mature, lol. He also has a unique vocal tone, very expressive with stage presence, can eat a whole ass pizza slice in one bite, 😅 Loves TROT music and is simply adorable. He turned 22 in February.
All the members can sing, dance, RAP and write songs. ALL the boys are in the top 35 with KOMCA, the ONLY group to have all members. Along with 3RACHA some members are also learning production skills.
That is my intro to my boys. For further details I suggest you watch TEANOSUGAR 2023. It's long but STAYS will sit through it with you. We LOVE watching a new STAY being born and we are very proud of our boys. ❤

@like_mate_stop_procrastinating I've looked this up and the only printed number I can find from the beginning of November are the figures I quoted. Other than fans saying it I can not find this at all.
StrayKids have won a VMA and Billboard awards this year and have notched up their 4th consecutive no l on the Billboard 200 as well so they are quite successful especially with the release of Megaverse and lalalala

thank you Anthony Ray for spreading the love of Stray Kids. Correction there are 4 rappers in Stray Kids. All with different styles. Felix is considered a rapper and dancer. In Korean they do have scouts for each company in the entertainment companies but they also hold auditions all around the world for new Asian trainees. If you are selected you will go to the company and train. Each persons training will be different depending on your talents. Some may train for years while some less than a year. And every company is different. You have 4 major entertainment companies in S. Korea and a bunch of smaller ones that may have any where from 1 to 3 groups. Once you become a trainee you do have to work on your school, and other classes for dance, vocals, rap, instruments etc.... to hone your craft. A company can house up 100 or more trainees. The prefer younger early teens as trainees because the older you get the less likely you will debut with a group. Not all trainees make it to a debut with a group. Most companies put them through a survival show and weed them out in various ways like voting or putting them through task.
That being said Stray Kids is different. They are from JYPE . The CEO of the company was J.Y.Park or Park Jin-young as some call him was also an idol and entertainer. Currently JYPE has many groups under the label that are both male and female groups like Day6, 2PM, Girls Generation, Got 7, Twice, Itsy etc... JYP him self decided to try something new. He picked the leader of his group and let him hand pick his own members and let him name their group. Bang Chan is the leader who was born in Korea but moved to Australia he trained for 7 years starting at the age of 13. No other company has ever let a leader hand pick their own members. And the fact that the also write their own music and produce their own beats, sounds, and melodies. Stray Kids does it all. Once the group members where named, the company did put them through a elimination survival show to ensure they had what it takes to make it as an idol. Stray kids are the only ones that produce more albums and m/vs per year. They not only speak Korean they also have Japanese albums. Felix the deep voice was born in Australia and he had a very hard time learning Korean. Yes it is a hard language to learn when you are in your own country. It is easier to go to the country that speaks the language that it forces you to learn more easily.
changbin, han, felix, and hyunjin is the official rap line but I feel inclined to call chan a rapper too even tho he isn't playing the role of a rapper in stray kids very much. listening to predebut tracks he made or some newer ones like heyday / 3racha I think it's clear that he's actually pretty good at rapping. I feel like in joining skz he chose to sing because otherwise there would be too many rappers.
This is why I love Anthony. He appreciates South Korea's good system with good music and artists. And he shares this with someone who is not familiar with this Kpop culture. Stray Kids just starts to get more appreciation and rewards to their originality and creativity in their music which they compose/lyric themselves. They are also a great performer group. You won't get enough of them once you start.

Stray Kids hit different. They are the best at making beats, writing lyrics, they do mad word play between Korean and English, they have mad rapping skills, dancing skills, vocals. And they are lovely wonderful human beings.

OMG, THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING MAKING THE BAND! They tried SEVERAL TIMES to emulate the S. Korean model, but as you all said the Western music industry will always fail. IMO because our artists have too much ego and have not been brought up with the same sense of discipline and respect for culture and authority.

That's not even close to Felix's deepest range, either. You should check out the Kingdom version of Side Effects for some even deeper stuff from him. And it's not JUST that he has a deep voice that's the opposite of his looks. It's that he has an insanely colorful deep voice. I heard a vocal coach describe it, saying that the deeper you go, the less color your vocal tone typically has, but Felix can go super low and keep a huge amount of color, and it makes his voice magical every single time.
Or his live singing during Victory Song in the Maniac Tour and the recent solo performance during the Dome Tour of Rev it up. My brain explodes everytime I hear that song.

Stray kids made their own music from the beginning. Bangchan hand picked the members and created stray kids. 3racha (Bangchan, Han, and Changbin) produce, write and mix the songs with additional help when needed. They are also a separate rap unit that goes so damn hard. Please check out Heyday if you want to hear them solo. Our singers are Han, Seungmin,I.N, and Bangchan although everyone in this group can rap and sing. You really need to check out their new video lalalala if you haven’t already!

Well you’re close. I’ve seen them scout kids as little as 5 (Krystal of FX). Parents said no she’s too little but they did let her 8 yr old sister go (Jessica of Girls Generation).

they have roughly 5 rappers who some regularly sing as well. changbin, han, hyunjin, felix, and lee know are all the ones who rap most. all have great singing vocals but lee know has been singing more than rapping lately.

Most Kpop groups dont do their own songs at first only when they become really popular but Stray Kids have been producing and doing their own songs since 2016-17 on Cloud. No Kpop group has ever done that or got to pick their own members but Bang Chan.
About Stray Kids:
3Racha - Stray Kids' main writing and production unit, consisting of Bang Chan (the leader of Stray Kids), Changbin and Han
They formed as a rap group before Stray Kids formed, and wrote and produced their own music. When the final members for Stray Kids were chosen, 3Racha was absorbed into the group. They write and produce the vast majority of the music for Stray Kids. But all 8 members have written music for the group.

Stray Kids debuted in 2018. They started out with 9 members (so in their early videos, you'll see 9 people performing) but Woojin left in Oct 2019 and Stray Kids have been an 8-member group ever since.

Not all of their music is hard. They also sing beautiful ballads, have performed a number of songs for K-drama soundtracks, and have written / performed some songs for an anime called Tower of God. They also collaborate with / produce for other idol groups and individual singers from Korea, Japan, China and Thailand.

Y'all might also like S-Class, Venom and La La La La by Stray Kids; if you like those enough to look for more, check out the older songs Domino, All In, and Easy for a similar hard hitting vibe. And if you want to hear them change it up, look at Back Door for a more R&B sound, Miroh for more EDM, and then there's a whole rabbit hole universe (Megaverse is the title of their latest album, btw) of different sounds and styles, from ballad to dubstep and 90's west coast hip hop. They also have a 3 member sub unit that performs as a rap trio, called 3Racha. Check out Heyday, 3Racha, and Zone by them.
There are actually 6 members of Stray Kids who have rapped a lot at various times. 4 of them are part of the "rap line'--Changbin, Hyunjin, Han and Felix. Chan, the leader, mostly only raps as part of 3Racha. 3Racha is the production/composition unit who compose, arrange and/or produce almost all the group's music, and also perform as a rap trio; they were the original core of the full group. (3Racha is a pun on sriracha, the hot sauce, since their music is spicy and there are 3 members: Chan, Changbin and Han). Lee Know wanted to be a vocalist at first, didn't sing well enough, was told to rap instead and did some really good raps for the first few years, but he clearly prefers singing these days. The other two members can and have rapped, they can do it well, but only have on a few songs.
