Both these lines play around imperm since you have turb in hand already. Second hand he could've linked off the hydrant for linkuriboh/anima, banished for preventer, summon either SP with hydrant or go for the aforementioned mudragon combo to leave preventer and hydrant in grave for the turb in hand. That was either a paid actor or someone literally just pressing buttons, no shot you pilot R-ACE that poorly.
I think Tistina is the prime example of a lack of Identity. You look at their cards, read them, and think the deck wants to go 2nd, but some of their cards don't promote that and the ones that do require too much setup alongside some of them not having synergy with each other very well. At least with decks like Ghoti, War Rock, and Myutant you knew what the decks wanted to do, but this one... I still scratch my head figuring that out.
To be fair, dont use the traps, apart from 1 Discordinence. Fallen and Returned are starters. Hounds and Sentinels are extenders - apart from Sentinel who is a starter if you have a fd card. and Demigod and Crystal God are the beatsticks.
it wants to go second, the trap disruption isn't particularly strong for going first anyway. With all the in archtype searching, you can play 1 or 2 of the situational traps to shut down your opponent if you can't otk, an event that is pretty likely since the deck's main beatsticks cap out at 2k. There are things that could have been done smoother, but the intended lines are pretty straight forward. even hound has a kind of place, securing the otk, if you have to deal with a monster that may float if simply removed from the field.

Im so happy that someone used this deck. I managed to snag a win against Tearlaments with Tistina, even after they made Winda on my turn. Seeing them lose their marbles was quite hilarious. Gotta love swarming the board with Hound, Demigod, and managing to get Crystal God out via Baatistina and just atk directly after Daruma Cannon them on legs.
As a lover of gemstone related archetypes like Gem Knights and Crystrons, I’ve now had to see the extremes of the last 2 archetypes of that theming being either absurdly strong that it actively lead to the rock typing itself being nerfed (RiP block dragon) and one being so…. Nothing. It ain’t easy being shiny I guess.
The deck technically has a one card combo if baatistina's bonus effect is live. sending sentinal, and summoning crystal god at the same time, immediately turns on sentinal, who can pop itself to get whatever you need. If you can get away with that you might as well search tainted of tistina tribute something you flipped with the crystal god to summon it as a level 10. and set up for the themed OTK. I think this might be the best way to play Tistina, a small otk package when you burn through other disruption. While I'm not certain it might be worthwhile to use ken and gen to put a monster on your opponents field that can be flipped face down.
2:04 I use that effect of Breath of the Tistina along with the effect of the hound of Tistina to attack the opponent directly (If I have switched one of their monsters to face down defense).
I did play a Tistina 8-Axis mash-up list two times at locals and was actually quite positively surprised by its performance (3-1 and 3-2). This is definitely not a meta deck by any stretch but I think it can fill the role of a rogue deck.
Hey, do you know how the guys on Tumblr are continuing the Greek Mythology by creating new gods like God of the UwU, God of the Basement Dwellers or God of the Terminally Onlines? Yeah, apparently Tistina is one of them.
Sentinal pops to search because it can pop itself, then reborn itself if you control a Light Tistina. That effect makes sense, even if it’s mildly gimmicky. Breath flips face down as searching any card for free would be ridiculously broken. In addition, it provides incentive for players to use the Light Tistinas so you can flip your opponents monsters and search, even if it’s not much. The field spell requiring face up cards also makes sense, as it’s supposed to be a “comeback” effect. Your opponent starts playing, and you’re a bit scared of their board? BOOM CRYSTAL GOD BITCH The XYZ should’ve been Crystal God on the field though.
There are a bunch of decks nowadays that just say add any card, directly or indirectly. Unchained got one, infernoble got one, purrely and tear have one sort of indirectly (w/ the black cat and foolish burial goods for sulliek or trivikarma)... It's just something that decks are allowed to have nowadays. The first interaction you describe is... just not minusing? How are you supposed to get out a light tistina before resolving sentinel? It would still be a comeback effect even if it worked on face-down - set 5 traps is scary ^^
I tried to play a Tistina/Kashtira go 2nd deck after the first wave. It could have done okay (the Kashtira were meant to bait most of the interraction, before going in for an OTK with the Tistina line which, yes, relied on the Hound). HOWEVER Where it fell apart was that to OTK, I needed my opponent to have 3 face-up cards. And. They. Never. Did. So now I'll try playing it using Black Garden to force them to have face-up tokens on their field during my setup. ... Once I'm done playing every other deck.
Ive been running the deck sense it was announced and ive found so many cool tips on it that will blow your mind, diabellister effect pitch a card, ss self search the sin to send herself to ss the Evoltile Megachirella, use effect tribute self discard and ss the evolsaur lios, use on summon effect to set Evo-Singularity, afterwords use effect to send your copy of misc from deck to gy, use effect of misc ss Animadorned from deck, use effect pop lios search pill, link into linkuriboh then into gravity controller. Then at DP use trap set by lios go into evolzar lars for 2 negates. Your field will be uct and 2 negates plus your tistinas. All this off of one diabellistar btw
The attack over face down monsters would make some semblance of sense if it kept them face down permanently like floodgate trap hole, just because it could lock a monster with a grave/destruction effect out of the game for many decks
I've been testing out Tistina the past couple days. It's really bad if you don't get into a combo, but if you do (say, playing with lower power decks, or pack something to help with that) it can potentially steal wins. That said, I don't think this is the correct build strategy for the deck. I run it as blind second, and use the concept MBT mentioned in the Watt video of just simplifying the board by running Kaijus. Usually if there is a problem monster that can't be flipped or sent, a kaiju will handle it, and then you can play against your kaiju. Running it as a going second deck eliminates a LOT of issues. You can flip it with whatever, then tribute it for the dark tistina, which is a level 10. You can usually go into the field spell running x3 +x3 of the searcher, so you have crystal god. The both of those are 8000 damage if you get to battle phase. Returned gets you to a level 10 as well, but only 4000 on its own. Dog lets you ignore any on destruction effects and just swing for game. In a pinch, use the trains to burn for 2k and swing for 6000. No idea why he's not playing the reborn as an extender. It folds very easily to non-destruction removal, but I think it at least plays better than this build which does a lot less.
I hold to the belief that Tistina was designed by two different people/teams. When the first batch was released, the archetype had to be handed over to someone else who threw something together in a rush or were trying out their very first project. The support feels super disconnected from the first release, in effects, design philosophy and even the art.
Attack directly does have some synergy with flipping opponent's face down because that way you can keep pressure without flipping them back... Except of course that, unlike Ninjas, this Deck doesn't flip permanently, so the obly benefit is maybe OTK with the Xyz... that nukes all face-down cards on Summon
The sad thing is that I've lost to this deck twice. In my defense, the first time I played against it, the deck was 40% Kashtera. I was also playing a plant deck I didn't understand in an attempt to gain experience with for the second time (a plant player later took pity on me and showed me how to do the combo).
I tried tinkering with this deck by adding a Danger engine plus moray of avarice and supreme mare mare. Still thankful at least for the one extra deck monster they added but I've just been making masquerena anyway.
This feels like an archetype that should've been an anime exclusive that never got printed and benefited from it looking a lot cooler when you get to plan everything that happens in a duel.
If nothing else, I love the aesthetic of an unfathomable assimilating crystal god and everything relating to the archetype just being offshoot or cast by it essentially; like a budget ORT/Type Mercury. Playing ORT's themes over EDOPro duels made my patience for how.. obtuse the deck is to play go up vastly more.
I felt pain on so many levels with this archetype. I pulled both Crystal God Tistina and Xyz Tistina in my Duelist Nexus and Age of Overlord boxes and I have no plans on using either one.
I've faced against tistina paying with the full armored XYZ engine and that deck seems to do decent. They get to it through 2 sentinels or sometimes even through returned as well.
9:37 R-Ace was supposed to linkuribo the hydrant, preventer banish hydrant summon, link 2 into sunlight wolf,a charmer or proxy F…..literally ANY LINK 2. Then revive from banished hydrant. Off the preventer. Then link off the revived hydrant and the link 2 into S:P. After the 2 names in grave get banished for a turbulence summon. After use turbulence to set 4 and pass with 4 cards set and droll in hand. Literally such a bad R-Ace player. He had combo and fumbled
I feel like when these TCG archetypes are basically pennies you might aa well buy a set because the OCG might just give them random busted bullshit. Not like it hasn't happened before. Also, while not a TCG exclusive archetype, Rescue Ace was just a quirky trap deck on release and it's now a top tier deck.
I think the deck was purposely played wrong. As someone who did actually play with this deck as well, I feel like they should be seen more from a going second perspective- cards like Tainted of the Tistina (that you didn’t play) are great at further cracking boards you already stagger and quickly establishing lethal without the need of out-of-engine pieces like Liebe, especially with the first round of that R-ACE match. If anything, this deck needs more go-second resiliency and boardbreaking in-engine, as going first is something they clearly aren’t as well-designed for.
I have no Idea what that R-Ace player was trying to do, blud wanted to do something super fancy. It is nice though to have a meta deck that requires a decent level of competency to win.
As the most knowledgeable Tistina player alive (Having read none of the cards) I wish to tell you Mr Rothschild that your deck list is the absolute worst way to play the deck (before I've even seen it)

I've faced against tistina paying with the full armored XYZ engine and that deck seems to do decent. They get to it through 2 sentinels or sometimes even through returned as well.
The bizzare mismatched effects reminded me of Nordic oddly enough
Ive found success runing the armor XYZ package with the trap, and Totem bird Is a nice little addition to the board If you cant make anything else.
The opening rant before the card-by-card is every single problem I found with the deck. So interesting, yet designed like this is 2008.
I did try using small therion package and the new armored xyz. Seems to work though we dont have the armored xyz spell yet
Ghostrick Tistina has to be a thing right?
no
9:37 R-Ace was supposed to linkuribo the hydrant, preventer banish hydrant summon, link 2 into sunlight wolf,a charmer or proxy F…..literally ANY LINK 2.
When i 1st saw these cards i thought they were adamancipators without the people
Get that race player into the NFL the way he punted those games
Yo dawg the new Edison hotness just dropped gotta check out that amoeba deck
Crock Pot discourse reference made an otherwise forgettable episode memorable-it's bookended by *two funny segments*
I feel like when these TCG archetypes are basically pennies you might aa well buy a set because the OCG might just give them random busted bullshit. Not like it hasn't happened before.
Also, while not a TCG exclusive archetype, Rescue Ace was just a quirky trap deck on release and it's now a top tier deck.
id LOVE to see a tmt with the earthbound servant stuff
I think the deck was purposely played wrong. As someone who did actually play with this deck as well, I feel like they should be seen more from a going second perspective- cards like Tainted of the Tistina (that you didn’t play) are great at further cracking boards you already stagger and quickly establishing lethal without the need of out-of-engine pieces like Liebe, especially with the first round of that R-ACE match. If anything, this deck needs more go-second resiliency and boardbreaking in-engine, as going first is something they clearly aren’t as well-designed for.
MBT showing us that tistussy PogChamp
Don't worry white boi
The fish are going to save us in February
really hoping we can get a Vehicroid Ten Minute Testing
"Crystal God Tistina"
Oh boi, this name is def going to be changed.... for nothing
Thinking of testing this one with Ninjas.
i was there when he decided on what to do for the skit
Tier nine or not, book of moon destroys purrely
*"This is protest art"* got me more than it had any right to
Great video
I use the Tistina’s and I use the Paleozoic’s with them for a more field control deck
That rescue ace player. Wow...
That R-ACE player had to have been a paid actor
THE PRINCESS JANE SHIRT
Cuz it’s a going second deck… people so used to going first in yugioh they can’t see the opposite villain mechanic
damn bro we saw this on the twitch livestream
I'm surprised Joseph did t comment on how some of the monsters names read off like its a fan fiction
The real power of tistina is the ability to find absolutely scuffed Rescue-ACE pilots.
Well you're at 19,738 right now, so close!
Where can you get this version of edo pro? Looks really cool
He had the perfect opportunity to make a "low-tier god" joke in the thumbnail and he didn't.
When I first looked at this archetype I couldn't figure out what the deck wanted to do
Glad to see konami didn't either
I have no Idea what that R-Ace player was trying to do, blud wanted to do something super fancy.
It is nice though to have a meta deck that requires a decent level of competency to win.
Tistina sounds like something a doctor would tell you you have a deficit of after reading your analytics.
Tistina Torsion
That R-ACE player was a paid actor, change my mind.
As the most knowledgeable Tistina player alive (Having read none of the cards) I wish to tell you Mr Rothschild that your deck list is the absolute worst way to play the deck (before I've even seen it)
This comment applies to literally every ten minute testing ever posted.
I bet this guy is sh1t at the game from the start
Absolutely true.
That rescue player has actually never played the deck before lol
Shout out to Diabellstarsstinkyfeet, who was the only person that commented in chat that made Joseph realize he went live instead of recording.
I now wanna make a tistina deck
