This is the arcade version, the sega genesis/megadrive could not run 3d graphics like these. The version for the sega console looks worse, plays a little more clunky but is still a great game
Man with VF6 coming out and looking at these old videos, not only do I remember a dope ass childhood I remember this being my first fighting game and by looking at it now…it was Waaaaaaay before its time. I can’t wait til this Sega resurgence. Sonic was my Mario frfr
When fighting against Dural, there is a sure way to defeat her without much trouble. When level starts, land few hits on her and when she falls down just run to the other side of the ring and crouch. She won't come for you and will just do punches and kicks into nothing until time runs out.
Fun fact,Duran is acutely Kage’s mother, because of an experiment from section 6 kidnapping her, turning her into a cyborg and striping away all of her humanity, making the fight twice as sad and awesome while difeeting her as her son.
Dural and the organization you're thinking of is Judgement 6 , but yeah, you pretty much got the story right, only it was Akira who fought & defeated Dural in VF2, Kage later saved her, but unfortunately, she became ill and reverted back into being Dural again by the time of VF3, he then enters VF3 to kill her, he does defeat her, but she escapes and his intentions in VF4 remain the same, he fights and kills Dural in VF4, but it turns out that the Dural we see in VF4 is not Tsukikage (Kage's mother).
As a kid this was the only game I played that was a fighting game, I would play it on my windows 98 PC back in 1998. Lot of good memories playing as Kage ^_^
That throw was possible to do with Kage up until vanilla VF5 (not sure about VF5R), in Final/Ultimate Showdown he only has it with the extension which is the Izuna drop because they gave Kage a new throw called Hagakure-ryū Yō Ko'enraku which serves the same purpose but throws the opponent to the front of Kage instead of the back, Dural however still has the original Koenraku throw/Ten Foot Toss in Final/Ultimate Showdown.
I think it's weird for Kagemaru to fight against his own mother (unwilling as Dural). This was the best plot twist for him to earn such a good ending for both of them in VF 4 (perhaps).
I searched for months to know the title. It's been...22 years. Looking at it now, the mechanics are so smooth. And I just learned this game came out in '94.
The Arcade is no joke. The loading is fast and the music jumping out at me lol. I can't believe Sega Saturn was able to get this on the system at all. Great game and music :')
@@MrSuperUltimate Saturn got it, I had it but it just didn’t hit the same. A lot of the backgrounds / stages were different in weird ways. Like Shun Di’s stage was no longer a boat and the water was way in the distance. The lightning in Sarah’s stage was only in the background basically and didn’t give that real flash / shadow effect in the ring. Kage’s stage was ALL forest and there was no evening / dusk sky. Weird smaller differences but they were noticeable.
@@RavenEffect341 I was thinking about this comment i made, but didn't know it was still here lol. 2 years ago i said that? Wow...anyways, Sega Saturn was my first time playing this, so i had no idea about the cut content you're talking about. In case you wanna know just for fun, Virtura Fighter 2, Fighters Mega Mix, Virtura Cop 1, and 2, Nights into Dreams, Datona USA, Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Shinobi Legions were the only Saturn games I played. Street Fighter Alpha 2, and Shinobi Legions were the only two of those titles that i bought with my own money in the mid 2000's. The other games i borrowed from someone else when the system was still popular in 1997.
@@MrSuperUltimateI get notifications randomly for replies to my comments sometimes 3-4-5yrs ago, haha. So I know the feeling. Saturn was a great system. I played or had most of those. @RavenEffect341 Yeah, I remember one guy got mad at me because I had no idea what he was talking about after it took him 4 years or so to reply. Like, why would I think of him or anyone else after all that damn time lol 🤣 I put a time limit on people now because of that dude. If I don't hear from you after a week or less then that, I don't give a shit anymore 🤣 And Yes, Alpha 2 was my favorite one too. Only arcade game I played was or put the most money in was Final Fight, which I didn't know what that game was at the time because I was so young, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat. I put $20 in Ultimate Mortal Kombat in one day. I had to let other people play for free because my parents wanted to leave so I literally wasted money that I didn't get to use on me 😭

Even though I'm older, I didn't play Virtua Fighter 2 until I played Yakuza: Like a Dragon and this game was in the Arcade. Since you get Passion points in Yakuza by beating arcade games, I first beat Virtua Fighter 4, which took awhile because of Dural and then I tried Virtua fighter 2.. and let me just say, to hell with this game, after spending a half hour, I finally beat Lion and I quit lol
i remember back then..i had a chance to play this on the arcade in some kind of shopping mall around my house area..so the name of the game is VF2.. i remember i used this ninja in blue alot...wow..what a memories..
The AI was ridiculous in this game and the damage never made any sense. When Jacky hit that somersault kick and it’s immediately like 75% damage. Come on. I remember playing this and Jeffry would hit his slams and it would sometimes be 100% damage instant. Like da fuq.
I played VF and VF2 so much in the arcades around her back in the day and then on the Saturn when they came out for it. The difficulty ramped up once you reached Lions stage. This is a great play through and the Excellent against Akira and Dural is great, those cheaters.
Teach me how you do the combos because i have this game as mini game on a playstation game called yakuza in all series and i couldn't beat it.. Tried to spam but no use
The game is beautiful and I like it, but I would like to learn how to master it as you do, do you have any advice for me? Congratulations for your skill.
Master it...against people? I'm not sure there's anyone playing VF2 anymore, especially not online, if you want to get better against the A.I, I can recommend you play on the easiest difficulty first and look at more playthroughs to pay attention to what the player is doing to overcome the A.I, in the arcade version, you use command throws often because they're inescapable and the A.I falls for them every time, the PC version has a completely different A.I.
The graphics and animations of this game cannot be understated. Remember, this is *1994* , the year Tekken 1 was released and this looked better than Tekken 2.
Nope, that's the sash-like hat she's wearing in her primary costume, you can see that it's pink and green, Pai and Kage are the only characters in the game that have their head gear fall off when you knock them down.
Let's face it you only prefer Tekken because the gameplay control changed and evolved if you wanna be fair VF was a lot better controller wise back in 1994 compared to Tekken it wasn't until Tekken 3 where the game controller got better
@@YousefTube Um, no. Controls have absolutely nothing to do with it. Like I said, it's a gameplay issue. Tekken has always been easier for me to play, especially when I was a kid. I played a bit of VF but wasn't able to enjoy it nearly as much.
This game had the best graphics hands down for a fighting game back in 1994. The graphics are so good for the time thanks to the Lockheed Martin GPU architecture that Sega bought a licence, re-engineered and implemented into the Model 2 arcade board. Pretty neat.
If I'm in charge of SEGA the first game I will focus on is a Reboot for Streets Of Rage i will remake the original 3 games in a Yakuza style beat'em up game with a mini open world than i do the same with Golden Axe Action RPG Like A Dragon style with a mini open world then i take care of Virtua Fighters and Crazy Taxi

I played both Virtua Fighter and Tekken series from the beginning at the arcades. Conceptually I never considered Tekken a better game than VF until much much later. Because Tekken was a VF clone through and through and VF came out first and always had better graphics until Tekken 4 at least. Tekken won in the end, more content and hundreds of moves and heaps of characters. Sega's originality and innovation will always have a place in my heart. Even if I played more Tekken overall.

The game was made in 1994. It is insane how good it looks. Even more insane is that only two years later came out VF3
