I still have mine from the early eighties , and still love it. The CEO of ADA passed away and the company left the scene. He was really on a great path to signal modifications. Great piece to have on hand.
Girlfriend once said to me, " You have 9 cars, 6 trucks, 3 houses, 11 guitars and how many amps I don't know? Why?" I replied, " Braise I Can! Well done LT! Great Tones! Be Well All!
I bought one back in the late 80's & wish I still had it. I still have the ADA Controller but the preamp was liberated from storage but when or who - no idea!
Very cool. Why not. More than 1 ada can ONLY BE A GOOD THING. I just love them. So versatile with the the and solid state sections, and chorus, etc,. They just have that 80s thing I just love so much. So much, just as you do. Especially if you put a fhbe power amp, or even a solid stage, but a 50 watt tube power amp that is squishy when cranked thru a couple 2 x 12s or 4 x 12s and it's pure sonic heaven for me. That wolfgang / peavey version are killer too. I had a purple US special that I loved. Wish I still had it. They are so small and just love that A symmetrical neck shape. Plus the pickups were great, great trem, etc,. Just all around rock machine combo you have their sir. Hope all is good for you and yours sir!!!.💘🤣💘🤟🤟🤟
Interesting concept for a video! A video of a MP1 into a Triaxis would be interesting, but half way through the video i kinda wondered what a MP1 into that Dual Rec would sound like. haha.
@Leon Todd. Great video to wake up to.....THANKS!!! I suddenly want to get second MP-1. I love them. Very versatile. Yoda says "DON'T STOP"!!!.........TONES ALL DAY WITH MY ADA.
@One Thing I forgot to ask and just thought of......With all those pre-amps in that rack, how many power amps do you use? Or do you use some kind of A-B switch or channel selector into one power? Not Only am I a gear head like you I also love different ways of signal path. Please let me know.
This is awesome, I love how the ADA sounds boosted! It for sure sounds tighter! I run my ADA with a Boss SD1 and it really helps tightening everything up! If I'm not mistaken, I think Paul Gilbert boosted his with a Tube Screamer. And Michael Wagner had a BBE Sonic Maximizer going into the ADA.
If you want the ultimate MP1, send one of yours over to Marshall JMP in Belgium and have it modified to 3TM+ specs. I owned a bunch of MP1’s back in the 90’s and my 3TM+ takes it to another level.
Of course!! push the Triaxis with the ADA and we will se what happens...When I recorded my last record I used the Mesa boogie Studio Pre for rhythm guitars without boost and the ADA for the leads, I was trying kinda boosting with Boss DS1 and doing some experiments to achieve a "different" tone dealing with a huge amount of noise but I liked it...maybe was because I was 9 hours recording and my ears was almost bleeding!! IMHO the chase of tone is one thing that we are losing. This days we use to chase the tone of whatever famous guitar player, using the new digital devices (that I love), but sometimes I think that all the people are going to sound likewise because I see people buying presets instead of creating their own ones. I prefer sound like crap creating my sound than sound like crap copying or buying presets from others. Doing this I just lose all the fun!! Let´s be honest, We will never sound like Vai, Petrucci, Van Halen, Hendrix, May, Satch...even with their rigs...at least, not me
Nuno Bettencourt supposedly used a Proco Rat distortion into an ADA MP-1. Go listen to Extreme Play with me guitar solo isolated track. The tone in an isolated context seems very harsh. But sounds great in the mix. Then go listen to any EVH isolated guitar track. To me Eddie’s tone sounds even better when isolated. Lol
When you first went to the doubled up setup, it sounded a lot like a real nice Nuno Bettencourt tone, but when you started cranking it, it got progressively worse sounding. 2:06 - 2:50.
Now you’re a multi MP1 owner have you considered the 3TM mod on one? It is lovely. More gain than you could ever need...... I’m reasonably sure of that.
Ok so before even pressing play, there is not a noise gate out that will tame this rig. From a huge MP-1 fan and owner since the late 80's... You have 3, all with a stereo chorus, 1st with chorus on feeding the other 2 and summing the others into L & R. Now I'm looking at the 2 in my rack..
Another cool video would be to compare the chorus of each unit. I owned 3 different units (1.38,2.00,2.01) and on the older version the chorus was way better
@@LeonTodd are there any differences between 1.38 and 2.01. Some people say that 1.38 more noise and more dynamic. 2.01 is more quiet and less dynamics. Whats your opinion?
@@LeonTodd No I suppose that you have 2 different version of ada mp1. Do you realized to any sound differences? Some people say old version has more dynamics and more noise
Unconventional tones work. Judas Priest Metal Gods the sound of metal marching feet is John Lennon's silverware being tossed up and down in the drawer and if you listen closely you can hear his garbage can lid getting thrashed beaten. All true!
Michael Nielsen is busy hooking up three ADA MP-1’s as we speak...
I love the way you squeeze in Ratt - "Lay it down" in all your high gain demo's, love it.
I wish we lived in the same city / state / country.
As do I!
After playing the AXEFX for so long one tends to forget the INSANE amounts of noise we used to live with when dialing in high gain.
THIS!
This is the video I needed in my life!
The only thing better than one ADA is many ADA, right?

The BBE 462 made a subtle, but huge difference in the tone in my ADA set-up. Neat experiment man!

Seems like it can go into fuzz territory! Now that's cool :)
I remember my ADA Mp-1... now I need her back!
I always enjoy your ADA vids! Thank you for all content

I'd love to see you do this with a variety of the preamps you have. JMP1 especially... since I have one. ;P
Next trick from Leon, taking his Soldano’s speaker out and running into the amp’s front input :)
What could possibly go wrong!
Careful Leon! You might rip a gate in the Space Time Metal Continuum if you keep playing with powers you do not understand! ;-)
Because, dang spell check!
Moral of the story:
There are no bad tones in an MP1
Nuno Bettencourt supposedly used a Proco Rat distortion into an ADA MP-1. Go listen to Extreme Play with me guitar solo isolated track. The tone in an isolated context seems very harsh. But sounds great in the mix. Then go listen to any EVH isolated guitar track. To me Eddie’s tone sounds even better when isolated. Lol
Yes.
Of course we want you to do it. Lol. Now you're going to have to do a profile of it on the Axe3. #bringbackrackgear
8 gain stages of noise floor!
Lol I was waiting for this to happen.
When you first went to the doubled up setup, it sounded a lot like a real nice Nuno Bettencourt tone, but when you started cranking it, it got progressively worse sounding. 2:06 - 2:50.
It just got sillier and sillier didn't it?
Leon Todd Yeah, but that original sound during the time stamp had a bit of magic.
Yeah, I really liked the initial sound. Boosting clean is the way to go
Now you’re a multi MP1 owner have you considered the 3TM mod on one? It is lovely. More gain than you could ever need...... I’m reasonably sure of that.
Yeah that's why I picked the extra ones up!
Leon Todd great move!
Leon Todd so 1 standard, 1 3TM and what is in store for MP1 number 3? 3.666 mod?

The boost brings in some brown sound.
Yo dawg, I heard you like mp-1, so I put an mp-1 on your mp-1
I had to ask.
What if you put all three on together
😲
Not a fan of that artificial gain. Sounds ok on records, but it’s just not moving me here. Sounds thin. Your Soldano tone is miles better
Anything paddles compared to that Soldano 😉
Leon Todd thought about selling my SLO. Can’t do it 😂
artificial gain?… they are tube preamps… lmfao
