"you can't judge a game based off level 1 gameplay"
well since all they opted to show us was level 1 gameplay we absolutely can
Yeah literally the only reason you put out gameplay is so that players can judge it.
If a game company is too scared to show gameplay of their game that's a massive red flag. Because that's gonna be the game itself. If your gameplay sucks the whole game sucks. If they don't want to show gameplay that means even they think their game sucks.
the entire time was wondering when will we see abilities combo's chained together. you cant sell a game on level 1 gameplay alone.
Also that gameplay footage is supposed to entice you to buy the game and, usually, they show you the best non-spoilery segment. So there's a decent chance that what we saw is the best the game has to offer.
Exactly. What they expect? Buy the game, spend my money then I conclude: nah, it’s trash. Money is earned, I get mine through hard work.
Trailers are supposed to make you want to buy the game...
lol true, they should study diablo 4

"Then i guess you are not the target audience" 🙈
@@baronsengir187 who is the target audience though? I was more excited from the fable showcase because that game actually looks like what its suppose to be.
The gameplay is very... meh. Also I have no faith they'll do the story justice and not warp it with real life politics.
People saying don’t judge it at level 1 gameplay are the same people who said you can’t judge Starfield till after X hours.
Exactly. And once you play said amount of hours, they're going to say that you enjoyed the game just because you played that much. It's a lose/lose situation.
I had some bethesda chill telling me to play 40 hours before it gets good LMAO
I mean some games do not play that well at level one vs say level 5. Like diablo at level 1 is basically just swinging your basic weapon in your hand. After a couple levels you start getting skills. But that takes like what 15 to 20 minutes to get a few levels? Not like starfield where they are trying to claim you need 200 hours before it gets good which is ridiculous.
@@Eseerrowez Then you don't make a whole gameplay reveal about just the level one, that's common sense duh
@@zhongliimpact6220 sure thats kind of silly to do but it also doesn't makes sense to judge a game at level 1. Two things can be true at once
Dude, the LvL. 1 combat in Dragon age ONE was awesome, I member the way the fireball spell blew the enemies into the air if they failed a check. It was fun as bawls watching them blow the f up. I also member the part where you climb up a tower filled with darkspawn with Alister and kick a trolls ass at the end it was absolutely awesome. By the end of the intro you had lost 2 companions, your king got slain, your army got screwed, you got royally betrayed, saved by a dragon, seduced by a witch and walked out with the kings heir to find combat, adventure and fun. My point is, if the game came out good, would OG fans care?
Probably not, but as one of these people I would argue for good reason. They tried this with DA2 and it just does not work for a game that lives from soaking in the game. Depth in combat and dialog are what makes these games. Comparable to the BG franchise. Make a new game for this combat and artstyle then. You just did not want to put ressources for this in a risky new franchise to boot. And it does show.
Dragon Age was a game full with racism, sexism, some funny moments but most of all it was dark and gritty. It was a world with high stakes and there was a gloomy atmosphere. Now it's Solas trying to fuck everything up and all are chill and make the classic awkward quirky Disney joke. fuck that shit

Companies seem to still think brand loyalty is a big thing. It’s like a dealer who just has two junkies hitting him up for laced trash.
But it is a big thing, its a huge thing that can carry your company through a crisis or take the company down. The problem is that they have no braincells to understand how that works. Destroying the product that made the current customers loyal to the brand just to attract new customers, that's the end of the loyalty to your brand, brand loyalty is not a super power, is goes away if you mishandled it. I mean, look at that beer in the US, completely killed decades of brand loyalty to attract a public that doesn't even care for beers.
BioWare ain’t Apple.
Brand loyalty is huge. Heck they could have spoon fed us the same game from 10 years ago just updated and everyone would have been excited.

Dragon age 1-2 was a very serious, mostly depressing and dark game franchise. It was about overcoming personal issues and the struggles of the world they were in. It was gritty. Inquisition was more of a hybrid, it was still dark but tried to stay grounded in the fantasy.
The thing about this is the music is unfitting, the back and fourth VO feels way too jokey like a fantasy Saturday morning cartoon, the setting has progressively become more and more like magic punk over time and less like the more Tolkien esk setting it was before. So funny how Bioware made Dragon age 2 and Inquisition more action-based and flashy because they wanted to appeal to a wider audience and earn more money. And yet Baldur's gate 3 sold more copies than DA2 and Inquisition combined.
One of the understated reasons is that you can do whatever you want in that game. You can handle problems whatever way you want in that game, there are only a few "but thou must" moments in that game.

@@luxnoria Sure, I'll do my best. We see game after game both remakes of old games and sequels of old games getting getting the "modernity" treatment. What modernity means for entertainment is the concept of how remakes and sequels of older games are made to fit a sensitive "wider audience" and has to be a certain way, to reflect the society of today. I'll get to why I think it's bad for any game.
This game trailer evoke feelings of a slapstick comedy adventure with a hip, upbeat mood, much like Borderlands. And while Borderlands was good, it's humor have become pretty unbearably cringe In Tiny Tina's wonderland and honestly before that too.
So what's the problem with that? Well the game is set in a universe where the world is fighting tooth and nail in a hopeless unwinnable war for survival. The Starfield vibe is dead on the description of where Dragon Age is at right now.
I honestly don't want any of these people as a party member.
I played origins & the quality difference even in the trailers are a night & day difference.
"dragon age 2" was utter garbage that was such a downgrade from origins in all aspects it was shocking, it didn't help that it really wanted to be a fantasy mass effect. It was also the game that ruined the darkspawn.
Dragon age inquisition was better than 2 but that was such a low bar but it was no where near the quality of DAO outside of graphics but that was only due to it being newer.
just give me a faithful remake of origins
I'm a huge Dragon Age fan. After ten years of waiting, I'm devastated to see wtf they did to this IP. Asmongold smoking them is pretty much how I find comfort, considering Reddit, Twitter and RUclips all remove negative comments and pretend that the Veilguard garbage is the best thing that ever happened in gaming...
I just like the lore, but as a hack and Slash fan I'll probably like the combat. But man, origins and 2 had 24 party abilities, inquisition had 32. Veilguard has 9?? And can't control companions?? Feels bad man, feels real bad
everytime a franchise gets co-opted and ruined I remind myself at least the old movies/books/games will still be there (until they get edited like raold Dahl books)
Just buy it with a DLC bundle discounted in a few years. That's pretty much what I do for all AAA games now.
I've seen plenty of negative comments and positive feedback from fans for the game on all the platforms you've listed. There's genuine criticisms I agree with. But there's also a massive influence of weirdos storming the game yelling about things that make zero sense and checking their profiles they haven't even interacted with Dragon Age until the day of the trailer.

The devs of this trash don't deserve a single penny. Buying this EVER for ANY PRICE over $0 is basically like scamming yourself.
What made bioware great wasnt the company. It was the people working for those companies and they replaced their talent long ago.. bioware is a shell of its former self.
ESG and DEI
If I were to compare DA:V vs DA:I with respect to the combat. All we were shown was an adaptive auto attack sequence, a new bow gimmick that's oddly placed that we never had before (in the older games you specialized into whichever weapon type you wanted), a lightning blade skill with a charge system that for some reason the player kept entering a "free frame" aiming ui system that's never been necessary before and as a result it's heavily jarring.
I see that Mr. YongYea is still sitting on that rainbow colored fence...
23:15 - Bro I don't want to play fucking Mass Effect while playing Dragon Age. I want to play fucking Dragon Age ffs
This looks significantly worse than Mass Effect. 😅
the best bioware games are from like 15-25 years ago, the people who made all these legendary titles just aren't there anymore and it shows.
Antiseptic is the word. That very much describes both trailers. It's all so sanitary and would probably pass any government inspection.
Am I tripping or does the necro give off "If RDJ was cast as Dr. Strange" vibes?
Yongyea is fighting so hard not to say anything bad.
He’s kinda soft
He's probably a voice actor in the game
Hes another sell out. I dont think hes ever said the truth on anything if it negatively impacts his bottom line
They turned dark elf into Black elf.
It's not the first time it happens^^ but now it's pushed...
Ok I thought the trailer looked cringe but do we have to be racist? Why can’t the elf be black?
Have you never played Dragon Age before? The player character appearance is customizeable. That means basically ANY look for the player is considered canon as it is not restricted by lore.
Dragon age 1 all of the races looked the same if slightly different dragon age 2-3 just made it more and more generic
@@dwayne2080Dark elves are a common fantasy race of beings who have darker skin and (usually) solid white hair that looks just like that of a normal elf. Their skin would be some mixed combination of blue, purple, and black tones. This is because they usually live deep under ground and they worship an evil goddess. That goes for most versions. Wow and FF are the exceptions. Most others are based on D&D or fairy tales based in Northern Europe. Just like there are black/gray skinned dwarves common to Eastern European stories.
Dark elves are not the same as giving an elf dreads or braids and just making them look African with pointy ears. It isn’t racism to be tired of this bullshit and gas lighting.
What's interesting about all this is that the fans are the Templars, and the developers are the Mages and we've entered the Mage Rebellion era, while games like veilguard, kill the justice league, starfield are the abominations caused by the mages misuse of their magic.
Why did the change the demons look? Even in Inquisition they were the same as in Origins
Someone should show Asmon
The Battle of Ostagar. That cutscene truly showed how good the stakes were

@jimjohnson6944 They're someone who freely calls themselves a turbo queer gendermancer or something actually like that, and apparently Dragon Age has always been super duper gay right there in its core and this is very overtly gonna be the queerest game ever made.

People said Yasuke is gay. Nope that's not the case. You can roleplay him as gay like you can in the other RPG games except origins.
I'm assuming she means that if you roleplay as gay you'll have more options for gay romances than other games along with straight options.
@@TheAcad3mic Dragon Age had gay romance since Origins though... If there ever was a "tubro queer" game then it's probably Dragon Age. Mind you, the difference is that Origins looked like an interesting game back in its time, Veilguard looks like shit so far
Hell even in Inquisition there was a full tactical pause where you could move the cursor around, select team members, and move them to specific locations, and select abilities. This is terrible.
The gameplay demo looked ass. It looked simplistic as a mobile game, designed to be played by being able to only press 2 buttons at a time. It looked so boring, so generic, so uninspired. It lacked basically everything, it had no grit, no weight, no oomfph. It felt sterile and censored. And the UI was horrible oversaturated barf that doesn't even fit the artstyle.
It wasn't a Dragon Age trailer. It was Fortnite.
Its DEI infected, so this is an automatic no buy.
I completely agree and it is sad.
These past 10 years or so, every shows, movies or games have been infected by DEI. They put so much emphasis on DEI that story, characters and even logic takes a step back, or more than just a step, many steps back.
Quentin Tarantino said it best about the DEI era we live in now : "Ideology trumps art, ideology trumps individual effort, ideology trumps good, ideology trumps entertainment".

I would have been more shocked if BioWare didn’t say that
24:58 It looks like the devs added the lighting effect to the grass, when they should have added it to the ground, instead. Because of that, the lighting effects gets way too bright and distracting than it would have if they gave the ground the lighting effect.
Imagine going to bat for bioware. Like they're your friend and you're defending them lol. Couldnt believe that nonsense at the end, what a joker.

The game looks terrible. They would have been better off simply making an updated re-release of Origins and calling it a day. The original Bioware devs left Bioware after ME3. It has been downhill ever sense.
Give it a year and I have no doubt the will re-release Origins.
@@Crazieyboy15 Sadly they won't. Unlike the Mass Effect trilogy, which pretty much just needed graphical updates, porting/remastering Origins would require them to actually do dev work. A quasi unplayable game with a decent story?
They began to butcher Dragon Age with DA2, then with Inquisition they completely butchered strategy aspect to make the game play better on consoles while also making series even more "progressive". Veilguard looks like another consoletrash game with disney levels of cringe.
@@DoomGuy148. the edge is real. DOA is certified now as the most overrated game in history.

If violence was female is the vibe I’m getting from Veilguard. Sort of like the Force being female in Star Wars these days.
Also, take note of the character designs - all average, “normal” looking people instead of the heroic exceptionalism aesthetic to aspire to like in other fantasy games.
Imagine if from software announces Elden Ring 2, Bloodborn 2 or even Dark Souls 4 and the trailer was the characters acting like they were in Borderlands 3 or some shit like that, with the characters and gameplay looking like they were designed for a mobile game. Its like devs now don't want to take their story seriously because they can't make something good so they appeal for the "Eh whatever is just for fun nothing matters" thank God we still have companies like from software that really care about the story and lore of their games, I hope they stay like this forever.
Judging a game on level one combat might be bad, but what's worse is making all your advertisement with level one combat.
So fucking truee! Amen!
I know, right? Show us some cool abilities! Seeing that one ability fired off the whole time was really annoying and boring.🥱
No one asked for the stereotypical, yellow is block/parry/dodge, red is have to dodge gameplay. It doesn’t even have a tactical camera. They could show max level with all the best abilities and it’d still the same.
Or that at level one, you're already moving and attacking like a master blade dancer sorcerer 😅
Well the thing is that, if the level one combat sucks... what makes anyone think the player is gonna stick around long enough to see the level 2 combat? I mean... I get starting off weak and advancing as the game progresses, but don't make it feel like work. I'm here to have fun - not work.
