It's been a loooooooong time since I had a picky toddler, she's almost 22! Your tip about dip is spot-on. She would eat just about anything if she could dip it. One of her favorite "dips" was applesauce. She loved to dip everything in unsweetened applesauce, especially meat. So, my best tip is to find a dip they like and put a little on their plate each time. The combos they come up with may seem odd or gross to you, but it really worked to get her to try new things!
I love that you don't resort to making him a completely separate meal. I was raised with eating what everyone else was eating - and it's resulted in me having a huge and amazing palate. My parents introduced me to a wide range of different foods early on, just like you are, and I'm sooo thankful! There's actually only maybe 1 or 2 things I don't really care for lol. High five Mom Award! I just love seeing a child who (even if it takes a couple tries) isn't "afraid of food" ha. I know you said Griffin is a lil picky, but honestly, he eats more variety than many adults I know lol! Have a great week!
yes i completely agree, i was raised opposite. My parents got tired of fighting and would constantly make us something different. Im 23 and terribly picky, I wish they had stuck to their guns!
My picky eater loves smoothies, and I can sneak ANYTHING into a smoothie! (Spinach, kale, avocado, carrots, tomato, nuts, celery...so many things she will not eat if given to her whole)
My daughter used to eat everything and anything, or she would at least try it. Now that she’s 2, she is getting a little pickier. I find the pickiness is partially because I’m not giving her as much variety, so she is getting used to the same things over and over. So I pick 2-3 new things each week to try. Seems to be working ok, we also do the 1 bite rule (if there’s something you haven’t tried before, take 1 bite. You don’t have to eat it all but you do have to try it). Luckily she’s older and understands “rules” now. My mom used to hide our veggies under cheese or mix it in our mash potatoes for the first few times, we always ate it because cheese and potatoes were our favorites and then when she didn’t mix it, we would recognize it and still eat it. Lol
Yay!! I use a lot of your tips. Who knew that changing the plates would be so helpful! I find my kids willing to try more things when I use a nice plate. 😍
Great makeup today, Jennifer! Really make your beautiful blue eyes pop. Griffin is growing up so well and adorably, and he has such a great family around him! Keep doing what you're doing!
Griffin is SOOOOOOOO adorable!!!! I would LOVE to see more toddler meal videos! My son Liam turned 1 three days ago and is still getting the hang of solid food.
My pediatrician recommended this tip to me, and it works pretty well - give them the food item they are least likely to want (for mine usually their veggie) first, when they are the most hungry. Then give them their other foods. That way they are more likely to eat their veggie before their tummies are full of mac and cheese or whatever else they're having.
Awesome video! These were great tips for feeding ANY picky eaters...I'm completely surrounded by adult picky eaters over here. I'm going to try the dips with them! I bet they'll eat the vegetables when I give them some dip. Thanks for the ideas!!
He’s so dang adorable all of your kids are. I don’t have kids but I love these videos. Do y’all plan on anymore kids ? Y’all make beautiful babies❤️ can’t wait for more videos. Can you do some keto meals for you or diet meals you eat and how you keep your weight down?
I just bought refillable food pouches from the dollar store so I can make baby food for now, but also use them for fruit treats later. He’ll be able to even use them as toppings for yougurt or cottage cheese
My 2 year old just uses the food to eat the dip 😂 He hates eggs but he does love a few things like pizza, Mac and cheese, spaghetti, cheeses, etc. I think he will eat more and different foods when he is completely weaned too.
Will be watching more. I'm having a lot of stress and anxiety with feeding my son. He's eating a lot of things that bind him up and it's getting hard to sneak things in.
I don't have any little ones in my immediate vicinity, but I still enjoy your videos. Some of these tips would have been very helpful when my kids were small. Good work, Jennifer. Nice to see you back again. I look forward to your meal ideas, too. But, it's summer and I understand your focus is not on cooking big meals. TFS! (:
Hi! I could use some help! I have a picky 2 year old. He won't eat unless its crunchy. Crunchy waffle crunchy toast crunchy quesadilla loves crunchy bacon and crunchy ham "that I cut in bacon shaped form" What can I do? To help him? He won't eat eggs or any forms of vegetables and fruit. The weird thing is he loved them when he was small. Then again I was away for a while due to medical conditions and his grandma feed him any cookies or junk food he wanted and I believe that made him loose interest in other foods! Any tips moms? Please?
Hi Jennifer, did you know that you have to try a new food about 12 times until you can decide whether you like it or not?! Especially kids need a bit more tries to decide. :) Love your channel and thanks for those great meal ideas. Sending lots of love from Germany. ;)
Can you do a updated video of what your picky little guy eats. I use some of your ideas. but looking for new ones. I have a hard time getting my son to eat viggies. HELP!!
