Thank you for showing how you make jacket using this pattern. I just got the same pattern but I’m afraid to cut my fabric. I’m glad I found your channel. ❤
Make the jacket out. of (relatively cheap) cotton canvas first, that way you'll know it fits and be sure you know how to do the pattern before you cut into your expensive tweed. 🌻🧥🎨🌼🧵
Hello! 😍 Thanks. Making your first jacket is daunting. I made sure I was using a cheaper fabric, so I wasn't stressed about wasting expensive fabric, and I just focused on one step at a time. 🧵🧥🌸
Thank you! Finishing my first cardigan jacket and starting my second tailored. The difference is huge but I’m learning. I’ll use some of this when I start my next cardigan jacket.
I am going to use this Vogue pattern but unsure if I should follow the Craftsy course where the lining is quilted to the jacket, or follow the actual pattern instructions, or follow YOUR instructions. It seems the difference between your method and the Craftsy course concerns structure. You use netting to add structure, the woman in the course uses quilting. I am wondering what you find in high end real Chanel jackets.
Thanks. I have a real Chanel jacket. The ready-to-wear jackets have neither. It's just tweed and a seperate silk lining. On the haute couture jackets, they make them the way I do. The quilted method is an early Chanel way of making them. It's cheaper and quicker than adding a structural layer but obviously won't age as well.
Interfacing onlu works with fashion fabrics. With wools and tweeds you should use canvas, hair canvas or netting. Netting is lighter but has the strength of hair canvas. It was used in vintage Dior garments,

Thank you so very much - feeling very inspired now - toile first, then the tweed, so no interfacing needed?
