How did you do your hydraulics?

Having looked at some simple hydraulic circuits online, I figured it can’t be too difficult to connect a simple system for my needs. I bought all the parts at Princess Auto. If you are in the US it’s like Harbor Freight. The connection types are a little intimidating at first. My connections are mostly NPT (national pipe thread) or ORB (o ring boss). If ordered valves online make sure the connections are NPT or ORB. There are some out there that are BPT. Those are hard to find connections for here where I am. I bought the pump and reservoir first as one unit. It’s a 12 volt unit so I can run with a battery. Then I bought the valve on Amazon. Hoses and connections were a learning process. Make sure you put a filter on the low pressure return side. Basically high pressure comes from the pump to the valve. And returns from the valve back to the reservoir with low pressure. The valve working ports provide flow to whatever it attached. Eg cylinders, motors ext. when the valve handle is moved. Hopefully this helps.
