My paper towel went MUSH in the fridge and getting them out to plant them with twizers was SUCH a pain in the butt!
So sorry to hear that! That can happen if it’s a little too damp but the seeds should still be okay
Have you tried using chopped damp sphagnum moss instead of paper towel for stratification ?
When do you start to remove the covers?
How long do you keep the humidity domes on?
Generally for about 3-6months, we wait until we are sure all the seeds have germinated and then gradually remove the domes so they can adjust to the lower humidity. We will remove them faster if the temperatures start to get too high
Hey, how far away do you think I should put my grow light to start these off? I’ve got a viparspectra p600 if you can advise. Thank you
When do you use your foliar fertilizer? Application rates?
Is it better to germinate these under a grow light or can this be done outside in the summer. I just don't know how much heat they can take since I live in kansas. We have less humidity and sometime 95 to 100 degree weather.
Hello! You can germinate them outside but I would try to do that in the Spring. If they are in direct sunlight under the domes they can cook quite easily once temperatures start to climb above 70 degrees
What kind of grow lights are you using? Where did you get them. LED? Color light?

At what point do you remove the bottom heat?
Once most of your seeds have germinated or temperatures are already above 70° you can remove them at any time

Thanks for the videos. I’ve been following your advice and am sowing the seeds this week after their cold stratification. One question though, for how many hours are your lights on for the seedlings?
Thanks for the comment! We leave our lights on 24/7, however, if you have a timer you could also use an 18 on/6 off cycle
At what point is it necessary to start providing nutrients for them? I am using peat moss and distilled water to raise my few-month-old seedlings, and they have a few small pitchers each.

I believe this uses 1/2” tape - there’s a post on our blog detailing the exact labels and label maker - we’ve only used it for 2 years so far but haven’t noticed any damage so far

Excellent information! Very good detail. I'm assuming that you use distilled water for the spritzing? Or RO water?
Thanks so much! Fortunately, down here in the Atlanta area our water supply is relatively mineral-free, so we use direct from the tap but rain, distilled or reverse osmosis water are the gold standard and always the best option!
Im not underataning this. Some say to put them in the fridge and youre using a heated mat. Which is the correct way?

What are acceptable temperature settings for the heating mats?
I don’t have a thermostat for ours so generally aiming for anything above 70° - if your room is already warmer than that you don’t need to use a heat mat - we used one here because it was winter in our I heated garage that can get pretty damp

Do you ever use a fungicide on your seeds to prevent mould?
Exciting! I don't but I know plenty of other growers do and find it helpful - I believe most use sulfur but there should be plenty of info available online
I ordered five surprise Sarracenia rhizomes from Central Carolina Carnivores. I also got a package of free seeds along with them. Almost missed them but they are stratifying right now.
Thank you so much for the very informative videos. Are there any negatives to let the seeds dry out after stratification? I like this technique as they're much easier to handle when they're not moist.

Hello! We leave our lights on 24/7 actually, however an 18 on/6 off photoperiod would have the same results
What is the strike success rate per seed typically?
Hello! It depends a good bit on the quality and freshness of the seed, but with good fresh seed we usually achieve 80%-90% germination
Thank you so much for what you do! I watched your video a few months ago but just got around to getting some seeds. They came in and I got them stratified and planted. Then decided I should probably watch the video again. Lol. Fortunately, your instructions were so thorough and simple that I got it all done correctly. Now to wait patiently for them to germinate. 🙂

Could you sow seeds in a greenhouse outdoors in same method instead of using lights?
You absolutely can! They might not mature quite as quickly but should do quite well in a greenhouse outside
On your last video you said you have an intense led light for growing. Which one do you have? Where can I buy it
