So dope to hear this without the sweat of having to fight incoming Xenos - although Noah's parts specifically have made me smile a lot in-game already. The world deserves that O.S.T. album!
@@awintory how do you go about bringing out a game's soundtrack without all the looping elements? I've listened to others and found it differing from the in game score quite alot. I suppose it's just missing the longer looping sections but I for one would actually love that stuff included in the soundtrack sometimes!
You really nailed a modern Alien score with homage to the past Goldsmith and Horner scores. And I love that you weren't shy to use woodwinds in leading melodic roles when normally strings are given all the suspense in this genre. Refreshing and inventive.
Couldn't have said it better myself. It really walked the tightrope of homage and innovation. I think it really helped it stand out as part of the Alien franchise.
I love how you managed to keep the vibe of the traditional sounds but did something with substance, and personality. I've heard similar "approaches" that just copy the original sounds in an extremelly superficial way while not contributing to the overall project, it's hard to put in into words but hopefully it's sorta understandable. This is amazing, the way you blended the organic elements with electronics, which is something I even like doing in my own music. This sounds modern but also like a vintage recording of old 90s experimental electronic music, I can't describe it but if you put this into the original film it'd fit perfectly even though it's so different from it! I love this so much, honestly I wouldn't even know where to start with something like this, you are truly a master at this!
A few people I spoke to had mixed feelings about this chapter for its music, but I seriously dug it just for feeling more unique to the Aliens aesthetic. It kinda gave me Gears of War meets Endor composition vibes
I hope everyone knows a lot of fans of the franchise will want a physical CD of this soundtrack even if they aren't going to play the game. I'm enjoying the game fine on game pass, but mostly I want to buy this soundtrack! Not some huge vinyl I don't have space for and would never want to suffer to listening to, but a nice CD to add to all my other soundtrack CDs.
Incredible wind performances, and super cool synth/orchestra interactions. I love the oboe delay and the "hostile takeover" of the 8th notes at 5:45 ish. Can't wait for the album!
This was the first track that really caught my ear and say: “this is an impressive soundtrack” it’s very different for the universe but somehow fits the entire aesthetic of the game without losing the feeling of unsettling expectancy and just plain fun
I am so often caught in the quiet moments of this game in awe at the soundtrack. Everything about the sound design, from the guns to the music, is spot on and immediately puts me in the universe. I’m gonna buy the OST as soon as it comes out lmao
I absolutely love the pace of the cello/snare drum parts while running around fighting xenos. Your score perfectly balances the feeling of vulnerability and power that players have. I can barely explain why but i just love how it all sounds, thanks for your contribution to my list of favorite OST's
Just started playing this over the weekend and the soundtrack is outstanding, I think you did a brilliant job with it. Particularly like this number, complements the action very well.
I have been eagerly awaiting more of this sound track. This game + this sound track taught me (and my friends) that the flute is a battle instrument. Great stuff!
An incredible soundtrack, I love the tracks inside the engineers ship, those are my favorite. The track during Mission briefings is very good also putting you in "mood" very easy.
Actually a superb soundtrack that captures elements of all the movies. As much as I loathe Prometheus, it set a good mood and this theme really captures that mood.
This is so awesome of you to do! Simple, but its so awesome to not only know specific notes and chords, but to also see how you notated it, and understand why you chose a specific key, or time signature, etc. Thank you for sharing with us!
It's amazing with this notation, that it gives it so much more context with how this piece shows a sense of urgency, yet delightful pleasure in eliminating multiple threats. It's sort of like a versus battle between Master Chief vs (insert onslaught of alien snakes)
Alright, since I am apparently Team Noah now, are those Tibetan Horns at 1:07 similar ones to the horns he showed in your raw orchestra video? It's amazing to see the effects it can have on a finished piece. Having you share these pieces is a delight!
Amazing! where was the score recorded? Also, it would be great to hear from you in a video about budgeting for recording sessions and how much they cost if you can at some point! Thanks!
This is honestly on par with James Horner, Goldsmith and Goldenthal. It has the little melodic phrases that Goldsmith was so fond of, the amazing String writing of Horner, the what the what the hell is that noise that Goldenthal's music had in Aliens 3 but overall I can still tell it is your writing, the woodwind performances must have taken ages to perfect, I need to turn the music off in the game otherwise I'm listening to the music rather than playing, this is my favourite work you've ever composed.
Hello Austin, my name is Vincent. I am a university student in Sherbrooke, Canada and I am currently working on a video essay for a school assignment. The topic I chose is the art of video game music and I was wondering if I could use some of Journey’s music to illustrate some of the examples (mostly short clips, around 10 to 15 seconds roughly).
I am naturally forbidden from breaching any copyright laws active in Canada and therefore need to have an authorization from the composer himself/herself. Please consider this request, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. *This is probably not the right place to post this, but I thought you might see it this way

Def need the ost soundtrack

That crescendoing, serpentine from 3:40 to 3:55 is seriously unnerving. Masterful work.
Thank you so much!

Tell them take Krill oil for 6 months then try again.
I remember me and my cousin was like "wtff" when we first heard the music 😂.
This track has the most unique and titillating sound of danger I have ever heard. Absolutely wonderful work!

@@awintory Austin did you make the new Pathogen DLC music too cause it's good too?
its EXACTLY what I thought the surface of a planet would sound like in an alien setting! great work!
Lovely to here so much from the woodwinds!
I have been eagerly awaiting more of this sound track. This game + this sound track taught me (and my friends) that the flute is a battle instrument. Great stuff!
Hell yeah it is!
I know very little when it comes to actually writing music but what I do know is this is awesome and captures the aesthetic perfectly.
This is my favorite part of this incredible score...so hauntingly melodic....
This is the kind of stuff that made me pay attention to video game music. Great work!
3:42 will explode!
There are giants in the EARTH!
There are big tall terrible giants in the EEEAAAARRRRRTTTHH!
Combat parts sort of reminds me of the Gears of War OST “East Barricade Academy”. Well done on this game’s soundtrack!

I'm so happy it's useful and interesting :)
Sir, You makes me understand the music. I got lot of help from your pieces and videos. Thank you
Me and my friends were playing this last night…and all we could talk about was the jazz flute music.
It's amazing with this notation, that it gives it so much more context with how this piece shows a sense of urgency, yet delightful pleasure in eliminating multiple threats. It's sort of like a versus battle between Master Chief vs (insert onslaught of alien snakes)
I really dig that "Medium encounter cooldown" loop at the end. Looking forward to the full album!
Such a great song tbh, reminds me of a space song
omg this is so goood! I'm getting some Close Encounters' vibes from this track, I want a full album so bad.
this slaps hard
The game is OK, the music is epic. I would love to get whole soundtrack on itunes. I can’t wait to use it in my Alien RPG.
Cool stuff! It's really interesting to see how everything is coupled with the game's music engine and how all the transitions work.
Alright, since I am apparently Team Noah now, are those Tibetan Horns at 1:07 similar ones to the horns he showed in your raw orchestra video?

Team Noah is a winning team
I still listen to this while waiting to give you my money for this soundtrack.
Nice
I am once again asking you to release this soundtrack.
Thank you for this gem of a game 🎯 💎 May Allah bless you.

Recorded in Nashville. And yeah I'll probably do a budget breakdown at some point!

Upload the new Pathogen DLC trailer music too please🙏.
That wasn't me I'm afraid but I DID do the actual in-game music in the DLC ... coming soon :)
@@awintory all right that's great to hear 😄
When will the OST be available for purchase?
Unclear but hopefully soon!

that song made me totally hate that chapter of the story
It made it more awesome for me.
