I flew on the 787-800 from Paris to Chicago on American airlines, and I thought it was the coolest airplane in the world. I would have thought that the 800 model would be more popular since it seems like airlines want smaller and smaller planes that can hold more and more people
Intresting video, but I belive that Boeing already fixed the commonaltiy problem up to about 80% similar parts of -8 and -9 recently. If a 797 comes out I belive the -8 will evem get less orders, although it seems like the perfect 767-300ER replacement.
The 787-8 seats 242 in a two-class layout with a 7000-8000 nmi range. That's the performance characteristic of a middle of the market aircraft with extended range. However, despite the efficiency of the 787, the smaller -8 has too large and inefficient of a fuselage and its engines and thrust are too large to meet the maximum efficiency it should offer as a middle of the market
I hope the range will be decent on the 797 (at least 6,000 nmi). A 160-seat, widebody airplane that can fly both regional and ultra-long-haul routes efficiently, that would be the dream.
But Boeing scrapped plans for the 797 as of now so the dash 8s being cannibalize by the launch of the 797 won't be happening anytime soon my friend 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
To answer this question well you should tell if any airline want to buy long haul aircraft what they will looking for? Actually 787-8 will be a very success aircraft if Boeing start marketing it for low-cost airlines a lot of benefits if low-cost airlines buy 787-8 instead of 737-8/9/10 and airbus 320neo family also they will start opening new long routes but in the end it will dangerously effect the full services airlines but that will be hard to happen low-cost airlines have a limited thinking which is they just want to survive in the end of each day.
Well this is one thing Air India has done right. The only 787 Dreamliner they have is the Dash 8. 😁 For an airline that's under a cash crunch, the -8 variant makes sense. 🙂
Because the -9 scaled up too well and the 787 program wasn't used as intended. The original intent was a medium range replacement for the 767, but just put into the long-ultra long range routes. This was the niche intended for the 777x, however the 777-8 and 777-9 didn't economocally scale in terms of cost per seat per mile. TLDR: the -9 has better economics and Boeing created a plane that competes with it's own products.
They would rather chose the -9 bc it’s the same but longer. Now the 777x will be going like wild fire. Because it has slightly less range than the 787 or equal but much larger than the 787-10
I would love a 797 business jet, if it is a widebody and can, modified, fly LHR-SYD comfortably. I feel that a 787 is a wee bit big for a business jet, but that’s just my opinion currently.
Yeah but raw passenger count/fuel burn is not a metric anyone cares about today, and it's why the 787 is demolishing the A350 in sales: cargo subsidises passenger tickets for 90% of airlines across the globe. The A330, like the A350, is generally terrible on cargo space, and as fuel prices soar more and more, the only downward pressure on ticket prices is cargo. The 787-8 and A330-200 are not remotely comparable on the total package.
Patrick Proctor I'm sorry? destroying A350? I mean having more order is one thing but destroying? Nah it doesn't if any plane would destroy the A350 it would be 777
The 787-9 alone has 173 more orders than the A350-900, A350-900ULR, and A350-1000 combined at the conclusion of Farnborough. Yes, destroying is an appropriate descriptor.
Paul Baltazar. The 350 six windows cockpit looks dated that's why they painted robin hood mask. 787 four windows looks latest and better, my reckoning.
In some ways I actually may like the -8 the most. It's the small but mighty variant with relatively small footprint but awesome range and versatility.

During this pandemic Qatar made a great advantage from their B787-8 due to low capacity and high range......

I remember when Boeing marketed the -8 as the middle of the market plane when it was still called the 7E7.

can you do a video explaining how codeshares on flights work?? Thank you!!😊😊
I'm flying the 788 to LHR/ORD this week
Just made that flight last weekend
The -8 did have a lot problems when it launched. They fixed them. I myself never flew or worked on 787s but I would love too one day
I believe that the -8 will be cannibalized by the launch of the 797, the larger variant it is.

that plane legit looks like a bird taking off

I flew it. It was dirty (seat was stained), the service was horrible as was the food and the iFE. Never again.
David Silver I feel you bro. Even after being the flagship carrier of India it's not like what Jet Airways is.
Privatization is the only answer.
Did you see Biman's vertical takeoff at the Farnborough Airshow? It was a Biman 788!!!

i flew a CZ B787 but forgot which varient Guangzhou to Chengdu a few years ago
That's called business boi😂
yay the thumbnail is my fav airlines China Southern. I fly them every year best breakfast meal dim sum
Now that nobody wants to fly 4 a while because of 😷 the the dash 8 with it's smaller capacity & lower cost to operate looks like the better option.
More videos like these please!
Range is substantially better on the dash 9 than the dash 8
Looks like Airbus may cancel their 800 variant of A330.
They would rather chose the -9 bc it’s the same but longer. Now the 777x will be going like wild fire. Because it has slightly less range than the 787 or equal but much larger than the 787-10
How do y'all commenters explaine low fairs Airline preference for the Dreamliner 8?
I love this aircraft but my favorite is A350
Pete Michel samw
the -8 can actually travel farther than the -10
Good one but the 8 makes a better BBJ jet but on the GE engine
I would love a 797 business jet, if it is a widebody and can, modified, fly LHR-SYD comfortably. I feel that a 787 is a wee bit big for a business jet, but that’s just my opinion currently.
@@t.3465 falcon 10x is the future
The 787-9 carries more and flies farther
Well, if an airline need a plane similar to 787-8 they can go for the A330-200
Not comparable at all in terms of cargo.
Patrick Proctor I mean in terms for passengers it's decent

Well…why not? That’s what I think of things.
Because overall the -8 is inferior to the -9 the dash -8 is smaller and with less range than the -9
I just realized I’ve already commented on this over a year ago 😂😂😂😂😂
I actually like the dash 8s much much Better
Lucky Boeing
737 and 777 still the best😂😂😂😂
Yes, the 737 MAX is a booming success
@@Ama-hi5kn Although I'm a huge airbus fan, I believe once the MAX issues is rectified, it will give the a320neos family a run for their money.
-9 and -10 are better looking anyway :)
Airbus A350 looks better
Paul Baltazar. The 350 six windows cockpit looks dated that's why they painted robin hood mask. 787 four windows looks latest and better, my reckoning.
Brett Demauna
I like the A350's "bandit mask" more
Paul Baltazar. Of course 787 can also have the mask, but it'll look so ridiculous nevertheless.
