Not sure how many times I’ve seen these videos you’ve posted, but they never cease to amaze me. You’ve really put so much into these and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to hear I have a #6 to look forward to. Best of luck on this year’s production!
My kids and I are so excited to see your new video. You make your Christmas villages come alive for us. We love the stories they tell. Love how you get up close with each scene. Its like we become a part of each village.
This must be how it felt to be a kid and go look at the window displays before Christmas. I know in our small town when I was a kid, I never went window shopping. We received a Sears catalog. I can remember flipping through the pages with excitement. I know many people have expressed their appreciation and even their aspirations of your truly talented work. I am a fan. WOW! Thank you for sharing your time, talent and treasure. I can’t wait for the next video!
Hi Folks! I'm terribly sorry for the delayed response. I'm well and everything is OK. Your concern for me is deeply moving and I realize how wonderful and powerful are the connections we make a fellow Christmas Village enthusiasts. Epic Christmas Village VI will be released in the Fall. I was 80% finished with E6 when I realized that I just didn't like the direction it was going. It was big but generic and I decided to start over. I've rarely worked from a written plan. I have a few general ideas and the Village just grows organically. It is an incredibly inefficient way to do things but I have found this approach to to be the most fun and to encourage the most creativity. E6 was feeling very "Scripted" and a little boring. The things I want to accomplish with E6 require significant time and that made it impossible for a 2016 release. It has been suggested that I produce a how-to series showing my progress and discussing techniques, products and Village related information. I am seriously considering a "Test" series of 6 episodes begining in February to see if there is any interest. As for now, I'm hard at work on the E6 Village. Just stopped to get a couple band-aids.
I am so glad you are ok. I can always go back to watch your other videos. There are always things I miss even after watching them numerous times. I think a test series would be a great idea. I look forward to watching them. I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a great start to your new year. Can't wait for Fall!!!!
I'm with you Pete! This is nothing short of amazing! The bug has bit me early this year and I'm already planning on this year's Christmas layout. Love this hobby
Congratulations Emile on sharing the Editors choice as best video production. we are thousands of miles apart but joined with a common goal to make Xmas that magical place we grew up to believe in. Steve Flaunty, New Zealand
Hi Yes once again it just keeps getting better and better, P.S. who ever put thumbs down for these beautiful displays every year is an idiot. If they only knew the work and commitment you have in these. I just want you to know so so so many people love them and are so grateful you show us these every year it's what so many look forward to.I personally try to follow what you do for my own display. Thank you
+Heidi M Thanks Heidi. The Thumbs Down are probably from Me by accident. I'm always clicking the wrong thing. In any case, I appreciate your comment and I'm glad you have enjoyed my displays.
Welcome back, TBCC! This was so worth the wait. Your timing is impeccable as the early bird has gotten any RUclips watching villager's juices flowing. Thank you for the huge head wind! So many cool things... the facades look fabulous, your Chinatown is unparalleled, the giant Grand Central Station, dolphins underwater, and Beatles de-planing (or are they leaving?). Thank you for sharing this.
+Jim Peters Thanks Jim. If this video can add motivation to other Villager than I couldn't be more happy. I hope everyone tries something new in their Village this year and posts a short video of the final layout.
+Lemax Village Collection I definitely am a Lemax Fan. Every year I find more and more to love about the entire Lemax Village Collection. The Lemax Facades are among my favorite.
You sir are a freaking genius.... You are such a inspiration for me and my family every year, when we put up our little christmas village....thanks and all the best from Denmark
I am teary eyed. I am into Christmas village and it started from some Goodwill pieces and I just add more every year..This year I want some skaters but since moving parts are expensive I might have to pass unless I found one in Goodwill or yard sales..Your work is magnificient
I just took a chance too see if you were back, and to my total delight here you are. I too was wondering if you were okay and I'm so glad you are. There is no one else I look forward to more than your displays. I have all of them saved to my favorites so I can watch them all year long. You give me such inspiration with what you do. Your attention to detail (the 2016 on the ball for the New Year) is awesome. I just started pulling out my Village which is large but not like yours, and I was telling my kids that it's too much for me too do and I'm not putting it up this year, but they volunteered too help, but after seeing this today, I'm super charged and ready, because you bring forth such a spirit of the Holidays. The Chinatown scene I just adore and the underwater whale scene, genius.. I take my hat off to you, you never disappoint your fans. Each village outdoing the other. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and kind heart in sharing your passion
I think this is my favourite of your videos so far. Your village is amazing as always. It's so much fun to see the tiny details which add to the whole. My daughter and I are in awe, especially of all your animation. There are so many small pieces of animation but they certainly help to add to the feel of life in your village. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a wonderful Christmas.
+Barb Potje I idea that you watch this video with your daughter is everything I could hope for. There's nothing more wonderful than spending that kind of time with a child. When my kids come home from College for Thanksgiving we will all watch it together.
+TheBigCrabCake My daughter is my partner in creativity/disaster when it comes to village building. She's home now on a week's holidays to help with this year's village.
Hello. Ive just discovered all your videos for the Christmas village and have to say I am beyond impressed. i LOVE the layout but mostly I love the "homey" comfortable feeling your villages give. Me and my son were watching them all day yesterday. hopefully our collection gets to be as beautiful as yours. God bless!
Fantastic effort. I've been looking forward to seeing Epic Village V, and will use the inspiration it provided to get on with my own 2015/16 Christmas village.
Dude! I thought I had a huge collection. Yours makes mine look like a sleepy town. I have about 135 lighted buildings all Snow Village. I never wanted to mix villages until seeing your display. All of your automation, WOW! I have never seen so many cars and people. Where did you get all your cars? Your display platforms all amazing. The cars driving around the city, where are they from? . I wish I could see your display in person. Also curious how much space does it cover?
TheBigCrabCake thank you so much for the info. I am sure I will watch it many times. Huge fan. Very impressed that you have 4 of the most iconic buildings of N.Y.
So I enjoyed this version of Epic village again and it put me in my happy place as I wake up and sip the coffee from my cup. I know you stated somewhere that you were not happy with last years video as it felt to generic. But for me I could have well tolerated it. I'm pretty sure that anything you put on the old YT will be a delight. I appreciate your artistry in all parts of your production. I look forward to the next Christmas Epic continuation.
I so enjoy watching these and am looking forward to seeing 6 in the Fall. Just curious...do you leave this up all year and just modify it throughout the year to create each new release or is there a massive set-up and take down each year? If it's the latter, I'd love to know when you start and what kind of time goes into it. You really have created a work of art! Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely amazing!!! enjoyed every details of this village. I can watch this again and again! thank you for sharing with us. Now I need to know what scale/gauge you use for the trains. I have a rather small Christmas village that puts mine to shame, but you definitely give me a lot of inspirations. thank You!!
+polar bear Merry Christmas Polar Bear! I use O Gauge trains in my Christmas village. HO gauge is probably fine with the Dickens Village or Seasons Bay collections. For the other Village collections I believe S gauge is probably the best match but I just like the dimension and feel of the O gauge better. Also, there is a lot more selection in O gauge than in S gauge. I hope you post a video of your Village. Merry Christmas!
+Pete Linster Unfortunately not. This layout had some structural challenges that I am deliberately hiding. Hopefully next year will be a different story.
This is beautiful and beautifully done, as always. I love your videos and I do enjoy seeing what's added and changed from year to year. You always give me inspiration for my own. When do you start putting yours up? Or are you fortunate enough to have a space that you can "play" with it all year?
My friend, I could not be more excited that you plan an Epic VI! It makes my holidays special. I'm wondering if you can tell me about your red and white striped subway. Can you share where you found it, please? Also, I assume it is an O guage, since I know that is your preference. Can it be used on a point to point reversible? Thank you for taking the time to respond. I know this is prime "building season!"
Thanks John. That's the O Gauge Lionel CANDY CANE TRANSIT COMMUTER 2-PACK SKU: 6-30165. You should be able to find it at Star Hobby: shopstarhobby.com. Ask for Don. He can help you find whatever you need. It isn't point-to-point auto reversing like some of the trolleys but there are ways to make that happen. Check out Modeltrainforum.com and post a thread on the O Gauge forum asking how to create an auto-reversing loop and they will be happy to help you. I'm not really qualified to answer that question but there are some very talented forum members that are always happy to help. There are no dumb questions. Everyone is welcome. That's where I get all my advise.
Thank you for sharing, I was disappointed you didn't post a version last year, and I'm so glad to see you are back this year! I am wondering, for your Times Square building, how did you make it say 2016? We just acquired this piece this year and my understanding was you could only change the numbers up through 2009.
+Kelly M Hi Kelly. Go to www.department56.com/category/community/collecting+%26+club+news/display+ideas/adding+years+to+times+tower.do You can download Years through 2025. Good Luck!
hi Well your so funny saying they are probably from you because you clicked the wrong thing. It sounds like something I would do .lol....Well I am glad just knowing now that everyone really loves what you do. Thank you for all your had work with the trains also.....
BCC, I hope that you can help me. I'm am trying to locate a scene that I thought I saw in one of your videos, but I've watched them over and over again and can't find it. It was in a city landscape, there was a photographer on a balcony or landing. It seems as though there was a platform with sidewalks and stairs, the facade was brick, not handmade but manufactured. Does that sound familiar? Your videos are wonderful and I've enjoyed watching them over and over.....Peggy
Hi .Mr Crab, every time i watch your videos make me so happy in christmas time , everything is so perfect and profesional like real life amazing!! Can you please share with me, In the minute 3:53 of the video shows lot people especial the chinese wich im interest they are like sitting on tables or doing things, where i can find those figurines and how they call?. Thank you so much and happy holiday Master.
+Andrew Bradshaw It's a much smaller layout than You might imagine and the area isn't very roomy. It just doesn't lend itself to traditional public showings. So until I find a bigger room it will have to remain Private. BTW, I love Easton. Nice little Hobby Shop isn't too far after lunch at Mason's. Have a great Holiday.
Hi, I just discovered your videos and my wife and I love them very much! Would be interested to see how you handle the wiring for everything, must be an art as well!
+Vanessa Taylor Hi Vanessa. The red house is the "Madeline's Old House In Paris That Was Covered In Vines" by Department 56 as part of the Storybook Village collection introduced in 1999. It was retired in 2002.
beautiful , beautiful. we just place order on King Country, Streets of Old Hong Kong to complete the Chinatown with Lemax and Departure 56 . By cons I also search the car track! Is what you would kindly inform me where is could I get it? , Thank you thank you and congratulations for this magic.
BigCrabCake, "EPIC" is the right description for your efforts. Outstanding. Can't wait to see 2016's edition. I do have a question. In earlier Epics (e.g. Epic II) I noticed you have artificial snow spread across your track (Fastrack, I think). But, in this later video there is no snow on the tracks, themselves. Did you experience problems with the snow gumming up the works on the locos or cars? I've put snow on G gauge tracks with no adverse effects but wasn't sure about using that tactic on O gauge rails. Thanks, again, for the terrific videos. You put an incredible amount of ingenuity and effort in to each Epic. As you can tell from the posts, everyone appreciates your artistry.
Thanks Ron. I use Dept 56 "Fresh Fallen Snow" It doesn't clog up my locomotives or interfere with their running. Other artificial snows, like the ones commonly used in train layout detail, had a tendency to foul my engines and impeded the wheels of my rolling stock.
Well done! Love the classic vehicles to give a nice Christmas touch for the entire town. By the way in the minute 5.45 I see a red car with the travel trailer, can You please give me the information of this set and where You bought it?. Thanks bigcrabcake
The Porsche with the tear drop trailer is part of a series of Car/Trailer combos produced by Cararama. There are quite a few different variations on eBay at reasonable prices.
First and foremost, thank you for the inspiration and joy! My husband and I would love to add animated cars to our display. I’ve looked through the comments and watched the Believe video but I couldn’t hear the name of the company that makes the track. HELP!
Thank you Sherry! My 2018 Village has suffered a major setback and it doesn't look good for a 2018 video. I'll keep working on it and sooner or later I'll be releaseing a new video.
The hounds are 54mm scale white metal figures made by WBritain company www.wbritain.com/product-store/49505. The have numerous fox hunt sets with these dogs. The riders jumping the hedge are made by Department 56 Dickens Village “The Steeplechase” rcgiftshop.com/products/dickens-village-dickens-town-tree.
I actually found what I was looking for, it wasn't a video after all, here is where I saw it showcase-displays.com/portfolio-items/christmas-in-the-city/ page 33 & 34. Must be handmade, but it's done extremely well!
Not sure how many times I’ve seen these videos you’ve posted, but they never cease to amaze me. You’ve really put so much into these and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am to hear I have a #6 to look forward to. Best of luck on this year’s production!

TheBigCrabCake glad everything is good! Looking forward to everything coming as usual =)
I'm struggling to get mine done too. This year was busy like all the rest. But we all need our dose of inspiration and love BCC
Christmas in July this morning. Enjoying coffee and good viewing. Again.
I'm with you Pete! This is nothing short of amazing! The bug has bit me early this year and I'm already planning on this year's Christmas layout. Love this hobby
Your village is the highlight of my year, every time you post one!....
+David Ball Thank you David! That is incredibly nice to hear.
+TheBigCrabCake may I ask how much room your layout uses? Mine is a meager 10 X 12 room and I lack the vision to make it really shine!

+coyoteatquiznos Glad you saw that. I was pleased with the way the magazine article turned out. Merry Christmas!
What a tremendous display. Love the way you blended the villages.
+Rhonda Zambernardi Thank you Rhonda!

And all of this, for under $200 bucks! Amazing!
It really helps to shop around for bargains if you're going to build something of this scale.
Fantastic effort. I've been looking forward to seeing Epic Village V, and will use the inspiration it provided to get on with my own 2015/16 Christmas village.

These videos are so nice. I wonder why they never show a glimpse of the complete layout.
Lovely!

Fantastic, crabcakes! Where did you get the little red convertible at 5:47?
Love your village! All of your villages are amazing.. Where did you get the Hogwarts castle from?

Thank you for all your had work with the trains also.....
+Heidi M My pleasure!
I love watching your videos!! Beyond beautiful displays. Where can I get the tracking for your cars, bus, etc.? Thanks!
the track I used in Epic Christmas Village V was made by Lemax. I found mine on eBay.
wow!
Love it!
Thank you Vicki! Please consider subscribing to our channel. We're already planning "Epic Christmas Village VII" for this Christmas.
This village is gorgeous! The detail and work is amazing! Can you tell me who made the barge boat? Thank you
The Maroon Tug Boat was produced by Lionel Trains. It has a smoking smoke stack feature and tug boat horn.
@@TheBigCrabCake Thank you!
no words! wonderful!!!
I'm interested in incorporating moving cars into my Village. Could you please tell me what your moving car track is called
The Lemax Car track
seeing all these lighted up would have been so much nicer
Will you be doing one this year?
BCC, I hope that you can help me. I'm am trying to locate a scene that I thought I saw in one of your videos, but I've watched them over and over again and can't find it. It was in a city landscape, there was a photographer on a balcony or landing. It seems as though there was a platform with sidewalks and stairs, the facade was brick, not handmade but manufactured. Does that sound familiar? Your videos are wonderful and I've enjoyed watching them over and over.....Peggy
I'm completely baffled
Crab, whats the switchboard at 1:18, I've definitely have seen it before but i have no clue what the name is. Been googling for a half hour haha
That is the "Dispatch Board" by MTH Electric Trains.
Hi Roberto. The Chinese figures are made by King and Country as part of their "Streets of Old Hong Kong" series.
I have to ask, is this a public or private display? I assume private, but I'm in Easton so had to ask.
I love villages...... 😍
Me too!
Hi, I just discovered your videos and my wife and I love them very much! Would be interested to see how you handle the wiring for everything, must be an art as well!
Thanks William! I plan to put out a "How To" video later this season.
That would be awesome! Much respect and you are making us feel like little kids again, love it!
William Oh 0
Splendide bravo
Love you villages!!! Can you tell me where you got the cafe table/chairs and waiters in front of the cafe de Normandie. Thanks.
What is the red house that has Paris written on it. Is it Department 56?
+Vanessa Taylor Hi Vanessa. The red house is the "Madeline's Old House In Paris That Was Covered In Vines" by Department 56 as part of the Storybook Village collection introduced in 1999. It was retired in 2002.
beautiful , beautiful. we just place order on King Country, Streets of Old Hong Kong to complete the Chinatown with Lemax and Departure 56 . By cons I also search the car track! Is what you would kindly inform me where is could I get it? , Thank you thank you and congratulations for this magic.
If you search for "Department 56 village animated track" you will probably find one on Ebay. Good Luck!
Vielen Dank für die Antwort, werden wir versuchen, und hoffentlich werden wir finden wieder und vielen Dank für Ihre Magie Félicititation
Thanks, Big. I think I'm going to try that on my layout... if I get it up by Christmas. Keep the Epics coming.
This is Awesome : I saw the RCA Dog and Victrola back there, What place was that ?
Hey Crabman how's it going, ETA?
New one this year? I sure hope so!
Yes. Epic Christmas Village VI is underway and will be ready to post in November.
So excited!!
Is the gentlemen in the downton abbey with his hand on the fence and his leg crossed a department 56 figure.
+Vanessa Taylor No. He is made by an English woman and can be found for sale on the "Holly Loves Toy" website.
Thank you
Just checking back. Praying for a new one.
Me, too!
This year? I sure hope so!!
Looks good for this year. Make sure to subscribe and click the notification bell.
Where can I find the ringling bros & Barnum bailey billboard with the moving man
Hi! Where did you get Downton Abbey displays? And do I spot Pride and Prejudice (or some other Austen characters) figurines??
The Downton Abbey display is by Department 56 and the Pride and Prejudice figures are by the William Britain Company.
@@TheBigCrabCake thank you so much for the reply. You have a lovely village (or can it now be considered a town? 😉)
First and foremost, thank you for the inspiration and joy! My husband and I would love to add animated cars to our display. I’ve looked through the comments and watched the Believe video but I couldn’t hear the name of the company that makes the track. HELP!
The cars and track in Epic Christmas Village V were made by LEMAX. I don't think they make them anymore but you can find used ones on eBay.
Lemax was the maker of the track and cars. They have been out of production for some time now. Occasionally they become available on eBay.
Where did you get your cars?
Most are Department 56 that I found on eBay.
This year? Just checking.
YES!
So excited!! Thank you so much!!
Hi, Love your village. Where can I get the cars and and track. Who makes it?
Just loaded 2015 under 2015 Christmas Village. My first successful attempt to add music. Please tell me what you think!
+Karen Kirkpatrick I think it was AWESOME! I really reacted to it! Hard to articulate exactly why, but It was moving and sentimental and I Loved It!
Just checking back to see if you will have one done by Christmas?
Thank you Sherry! My 2018 Village has suffered a major setback and it doesn't look good for a 2018 video. I'll keep working on it and sooner or later I'll be releaseing a new video.
Sorry to hear that. Was so looking forward to seeing your work.
Big, are you ok?
Hi again. It’s the hounds at 7:15 along with the horse and rider jumpers. Can u tell me where you bought them if still possible. Thanks
Thanks so much!
Just checking to see if you’re ok.
I actually found what I was looking for, it wasn't a video after all, here is where I saw it showcase-displays.com/portfolio-items/christmas-in-the-city/ page 33 & 34. Must be handmade, but it's done extremely well!
Thanks for the link. That's a great scene.
I Don't Know What is Happening.....Tell me something Please!!!!! I'm Still Waiting for last year video!!!! We Miss U....
Does this scare you too? Not getting a reply back? It does me. I hope he is ok.
He's already announced there won't be one this year.
Jack C when did he announce it?
