@Stefan Travis The 2009 "remake/reimagining" was a garbage. Those responsible for that travesty should've been incarcerated for vandalism of a classic show.
KAR 120C Lotus super Seven II. It was sold to an Australian guy and shipped over there...sadly being wrecked in an accident. AFAIK, the number plate KAR 120C is still owned by Caterham Cars.
I liked the effect of Rover shooting out of the water, though I had to laugh that it was evident they tied one to the back of the car for a couple of shots. Still, well done.
If you calculate the letters (Their position in the alphabet) and number on the license-plate (Add them all together like this: 7+4+21+8+13 = 53) If you calculate the date this video was posted (June 26 2009 = 7+26+(2-9) = 25) If you then subtract the date-result from the license-plate result (53 - 25 = 28) If you then subtract the number of letters in the name RENAULT (28 - 7 = 21) TWENTY-ONE! It seems all math leads to prison lol :D (If you look hard enough all prophecies and math comes true)
I named my dog "Rover" from this show. I have to ask.... If Number 6 was such a good agent, why didn't he notice he was being tailed by a Rolls-Royce hearse? Talk about being inconspicuous....
It seems that the actor playing Number Two in this spot was trying to channel Leo McKern, the best-known of the "Numbers Two" in the original "Prisoner" series.
Interesting how Number 21 escapes by pulling away in 5th gear. The fiendish Village mechanic must have installed the gearbox backwards to try and prevent this.
Why did Renault promoted the prisoner to sell a Renault 21 while they didn't promote Jurassic world Dominion to create sports car called pyroraptor that would have been a interesting sports car to sell that's a missed opportunity to promote Jurassic world Dominion
Woah! as a huge prisoner fan i cant believe im seeing this for the first time now! Turns out No 6 just needed the right car! who knew!?
Just watched the 2009 Prisoner remake. This ad is better.
OMG you can't remake a classic - it's like disinterring a dead person and propping him up.
They keep trying to do it and I keep saying "IT STINKS!"
Stefan, you're right.
Like Mr Dead from The Fast Show

They got the music right.
Well done.
Be seeing you.
“Why did you think a big balloon would stop people?”
“SHUT UP! That’s why”.
US Govt: "Shit! It's a Chineese balloon, we are so screwed."
@Gentle Wise wtf?
For those who don't know; "A balloon? Lol!"
Those who know; 😱
I could really go for bottomless bag of peanuts.
@peterclapton625 It used to engulf people....devouring them... suffocating them. Quite nasty.
I had heard of this commercial for years but never thought I'd see it.
Thanks for posting this.
Okay, watching this in January of 2021 makes it all the more amusing.
Excellent! Be seeing you.
So now Number 2 is telling us that we can be freed through commercialism? The plots get ever more intricate.
Be seeing you.
21 HAS ESCAPED! 😃
@@ryanwalker819 He's not 21, he's a very naughty boy.
"Let us be thankful we have commerce. Buy more. Buy more now. Buy... And be happy."

Loved this and recorded it on cassette, as I had my TV wired up to the HiFi in the eighties.
The car was pretty fab too.
Great idea- this car, however, doesn't look as good as the prisonner's Lotus!

That's great. The Renaults I drove wouldn't start most of the time. The Fuego, what a rockstar car!
Well, turns out the most effective way to escape the village is also the most anticlimatic.
👍👍👍👍 I am not a number. I am now a free man.
If only it were that easy!
number 21 enters the renault 21 when the commercial reaches 21 seconds long.. interesting..

Great Commercial!
@Watcher3223 I don't think it was more than a coincidence, considering that in the series, these Rovers kept people from escaping from "The Village".
"Be seeing you."

Not a Rolls Royce. It was actually a Princess 4-Litre Hearse from around 1957.
It seems that the actor playing Number Two in this spot was trying to channel Leo McKern, the best-known of the "Numbers Two" in the original "Prisoner" series.
I remember his wooden sunglasses.
He looked more like “supervisor” Peter Swanwick
Wasn't this actor Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard)?
Now the surveillance carries on 24/7 with no chance for escape.
😂
Dislike the car, but the ad is great!
I'm watching the entire "Prisoner" series. This was among the occasional interviews YT sent my way.
When was this commercial made?
1989

Awesome.
Crass commercialism is a burden to others. A still tongue makes for a happy life.
Be seeing you.
That's great! Who knew?

Bravo!!! 👏👏👏
If only they did that for Star Trek tos!
Now try that with a Renault 6 !
Euro econobox of the time.
It's a Renault -- it will be back.
Makes more sense than Fall Out !
i don't recall this advertisement at all and being born in 1970, i don't recall the programme either.
The Chinese spy balloon brought me here.
Yep.
Whose side are you on ?
That would be telling.

So rover's in a Renault ad. Huh

Best show ever made… prob one of the worse cars Iv ever seen ha..
LOL!
hence the indiana jones boldar.
Renaults don't run that long ... come on man!

All it took was a Renault?!!!
Go to orange alert
😂
SO WRONG but cute anyway lol
And so all it took is a Renault hmmm to bad it wasn't a Ford
hmm, so all you need to escape is a crappy French car.
Good advert, crap car
