Scott's video hit hard, but it also is not only about loss, but the love that we have for our pets and the love they have for us. Bubs was no doubt a lucky doggie to have such a love-filled home. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to feel this one. It is very healing to hear our own emotions put into words and music by someone who is skilled at conveying emotion through song. It's not a joyful song like most of Scott's, but it does bring me back to our dear pets that we've lost. I appreciated your unique perspective on this topic. We definitely don't deserve the unconditional love from these gentle, empathetic beings. They are love in a furry body!

We lost our poodle 22 years ago and the last of our 7 cats 3 years ago. Sometimes I have bittersweet memories of each unique personality. But I haven’t cried for a few years until I saw this reaction. Thank you for making them real again.
Recommend PTX’s original of Thank You. It’s a lovely song about gratitude towards one’s significant other. The PTX dogs have cameos in it.

👉👉👉Not only did Scott and his now husband Mark lose Bubba, Kirstie lost her beautiful Husky Pascal to cancer a few months later.
For Bubba Scott and Mark were able to get the vets to extend his life a bit longer. Shortly after he passed the Hoying's shared with the fans on Instagram.
They have 2 new fur babies Mozart and Miles but they hold Bubba forever in their hearts.
On Scotts wedding last year they even featured a drink with Bubba's name and had a picture of him at the reception.
For Kirstie it was REALLY hard because she was out of the country on tour with PTX when she was informed about Pascal.
Kirstie's mom is the main pup-sitter when Kirstie is on tour.
There is a video of the group on stage and and Kirstie is obviously distraught.
Kirstie got married April 20 2024 and had drinks featured for her pups.
She has a white Husky named Olaf and a pocket Pomeranian called Floof.
Bubba and Kirstie's 3 pups make a cameo on their video "Thank You" which Scott wrote in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.
It's a BEAUTIFUL song and video.
PTX especially The Trio (Scott, Kirstie and Mitch) absolutely LOVE animals.

Any pet that isn't a close family member needs a better family. It's even in the language we use - we don't "get" a pet, we "adopt" one.
Scott's song touches on all the memories of loss and grief. Hearing the horrible diagnosis and refusing to believe it, searching for a magical way to make everything better and finding out (yet again) that magic doesn't work, and finally having to deal with the loss. Our hearts break all over every time it happens, and yet we keep adopting pets, because, ultimately, we gain more from them than we lose.
Scott filmed the official videos for this album in Iceland in June of 2023, after Pentatonix finished their tour there. The scenery in Iceland is just so gorgeous that he couldn't pass up the chance to include it in these songs.

    His Apologies
    poem by Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)
Master, this is Thy Servant. He is rising eight weeks old.
He is mainly Head and Tummy. His legs are uncontrolled.
But Thou has forgiven his ugliness, and settled him on Thy knee ...
Art Thou content with Thy Servant? He is very comfy with Thee.
Master, behold a Sinner! He hath committed a wrong.
He hath defiled Thy Premises through being kept in too long.
Wherefore his nose has been rubbed in the dirt, and his self-respect has been bruised,
Master, pardon Thy Sinner, and see he is properly loosed.
Master - again Thy Sinner! This that was once Thy Shoe,
He has found and taken and carried aside, as fitting matter to chew.
Now there is neither blacking nor tongue, and the Housemaid has us in tow.
Master, remember Thy Servant is young, and tell her to let him go!
Master, extol Thy Servant, he has met a most Worthy Foe!
There has been fighting all over the Shop - and into the Shop also!
Till cruel umbrellas parted the strife (or I might have been choking him yet)
But Thy Servant has had the Time of his Life - and now shall we call on the vet?
Master, behold Thy Servant! Strange children came to play,
And because they fought to caress him, Thy Servant wentedst away.
But now that the Little Beasts have gone, he has returned to see
(Brushed - with his Sunday collar on) what they left over from tea.
Master, pity Thy Servant! He is deaf and three parts blind.
He cannot catch Thy Commandments. He cannot read Thy Mind.
Oh, leave him not to his loneliness; nor make him that kitten's scorn.
He hath had none other God than Thee since the year that he was born.
Lord, look down on Thy Servant! Bad things have come to pass.
There is no heat in the midday sun, nor health in the wayside grass.
His bones are full of an old disease - his torments run and increase.
Lord, make haste with Thy Lightnings and grant him a quick release!

    Hey Dr Em......
Would you consider adding closed captions to your videos? I really want to share your videos with my Deaf son but he will be unable to access them in its current format.
Thank you so much for your dedication to our furry friends!

    • @VetMedCorner
      @VetMedCorner  2 месяца назад +1

I have the videos set up so that closed captions are an option (there's even a number of different languages to improve accessibility as best as I can).
I'm not sure what device you are using, but for example on my phone screen the cc option is on the top right.
Please let me know if it's not something you see on your end. I just asked my partner to check and he does have cc access, so I am hoping that means everyone does.
Thank you for asking about this! 💜

    The Power of the Dog
    poem by Rudyard Kipling
    1865 -1936
There is sorrow enough in the natural way
    From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and Sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.
Buy a pup and your money will buy
    Love unflinching that cannot lie-
    Perfect passion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
    Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart for a dog to tear.
When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find-it’s your own affair-
But… you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.
When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!).
When the spirit that answered your every mood
    Is gone-wherever it goes-for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.
We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.
Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ’em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-time loan is as bad as a long-
So why in-Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

Wow! That was a hard one. I'm glad I made it through, but I wasn't expecting it to hit so hard so fast. I could be having feeling because I recently went through a death anniversary for my best friend. He meant so much to me (and still does). He would protect me from myself when I would have self harm feelings, and made sure that I got in exercise, and would protect me if someone came by while I was home alone. I had him from a pup, until he was about 18 years old. To me, he was my kid. All my pets are definitely family to me. I wish I had more keepsakes from him. That is one of my biggest regrets. Even though he isn't here on earth with me, he still visits me in my dreams, when I need a reminder. I know sometimes it doesn't feel like it, but you have great strength in dealing with that part of your job. It is okay to feel the feelings and cry.
