I've never realized how difficult are Oasis songs to sing until I embarrassed myself in a karaoke bar on Turkish resort in front of room full of British people. SMH
What about "Listen Up"? One of the hardest to sing. I'm sure if it wasn't that high they would've never dropped it from the setlist. Noel has played a lot since before he went solo.
He had a godlike voice in the early days. Was such a talent and a big reason for Oasis success. Glad to see he is aware now of his voice and it's decline and appears to be singing better again.
You can tell that's before Noel joined, as the lyrics weren't great, and they sounded so much like The Stone Roses, only not as good lol. People hate on Noel all the time, but they don't realise if he didn't join, all of their songs would have sounded like the early Liam & Bonehead demos. Even the amazing songs Liam wrote like I'm Outta Time & Songbird, wouldn't have been written without Noel, as it was Noel's songwriting talent that encouraged Liam to write them.
It's a fact! And no ginger bollocks is going to throw us off the stage! And like Bonehead says at the end, Liam IS the voice of Oasis, always will be. Are you listening Potato! Nice video, keep at it!
Nutsngum1 are you sure? I thought this might be the case and lowered the pitch to see if it was just sped up, but it sounded very unlike Liam and was incredibly slow.
Nice video, big Oasis fan here too. Liam has a very solid mid range but yeah he can go up and down. SHE IS ELECTRIC, that's a song you can't actually find on live version, only Noel sangs that one. I always liked the way the song exposes the texture of the voice and over the years learned to see why, and why is so difficult for Liam. As a big Oasis fan I also thought "damn the best years are over" but no. Liam is singing quite well today. The thing on learning about singing is we start understanding. Back to She is Electric: Liam is a rock singer, like it's been said before he sings with power and heart, yeah, but that song demands the best of a singer, being relaxed. Wonderwall is a song he was avoiding live and when he couldn't, he changed the style (the power) then after years he finally nailed it again (Howard Stern show), too bad the radio studio has too many and too powerful noise cancelation features, it really affects the songs. Anyway Wonderwall is a song he can get away with, more than any song like She is Electric (Blue Moon is quite difficult in the style he sang it, but yet again that's studio). Studio? We can't just talk about studio versions as always-cheating or applying filters, Liam could nail the songs in one or a few more takes (Morrissey is quite a legend in that field, singing many many in one take), what I'm talking about right now is songs like Blue Moon and others can be done by Liam without filters, but doesn't mean (like any other singer) is in one take. Nice singer if you ask me, there are better ones, but better doesn't mean they always get my preference.
Thanks so much for the vid! Love Oasis and LOVE LOVE Liam as a singer! He was incredible when he was young - and his voice is BACK! He has the best rock voice of all time. One of the best popular music voices of all time. And one of the top 5 most recognisable singing voices in the world.
His vocal range is brilliant and better than what you say he is.....also the vocal range matters little when it is about the sound, tone and pitch that comes out in whatever vocal range you are in and Liam is lucky to have a great vocal range and an amazing time and voice in general. All this is subjective to different people's ears as people like different sounds like people like different tastes and sights ect.
Badgasaurus Questionable choices here. I would not include the falcetto stuff. My Generation also doesn't count in my book as he "barely" makes that b-flat. Also th whoos don't count in my book. So the highest, given my random criteria, is the a in Some might Say. Because the tape is also slightly sped up. Generally his highest was forth a.
M T My Big Mouth, Hello, Some Might Say all have that forth octave a in them. Might be others I missed. Also, is that low octave vocal in Columbia definitely him?
@@gerrymchell I'm actually not sure if it is him. He's gotten down to G#2 before, but I think I've heard somewhere that Chris Griffis from the real people actually sang that part. He's hit an A4 in Rockin' Chair, live versions of Stay Young and Be Here Now, shouted A4s in Champagne Supernova circa 1999, the prodigy song Shoot Down among a few others. He's hit good Bb4s in the backing vocals of Once. Might be worth checking out. As far as your statement for falsetto goes, those D5s in Ain't Got Nothin' are in mixed voice and are definitely countable.
Great video here. There are a few things to add though and some corrections. Wigwam has B4s in it (which he has sang live) and some falsetto E5s, F#5s and G#5s in falsetto in the coda section. The Ain't Got Nothin' demo also has falsetto G5s in the background just before the solo section. The F5 isn't Liam, it is Noel, he has spoken about recording the screams in an interview with Q magazine regarding the songs on Be Here Now. Also he's gotten down to G#2 in the live version of Day Tripper done with Ocean Colour Scene and in the backing vocals of 2019 song Glimmer. This is his lowest recorded note because the G2s and A2s in Columbia are actually Real People member Anthony Griffiths who recorded vocals and contributed lyrics to the track. They do not sound like Liam anyway.
A4s in Some Might Say were extremely strained but G#4 and below are just incredible what a vocal talent he once had accidentially I deleted my comment so I have to just rewrite it I guess Oasis songs were clearly my inspiration to take vocal lessons, and after a year it's obvious for me that his voice was some kind of a gift. Sadly it was ruined by singing songs that were out of his range during the tours. If we take Some My Say as an example, and listen to Noel's demo, we can clearly hear that A4s in choruses are not that easy to hit even for Noel's tenor voice; and that is applicable for many other Oasis' songs, that should've been detuned at least for one full step down; but all in all we have songs that've been written with so much passion and energy.
Liam is also a tenor... Its just that he sing with a different technique than Noel. Liam push a lot of volume in his voice and add things like the raspy and his tipical high tone. But at the same time strained more in the high notes because of that. Noel can reach that notes better just because of his different way to sing. (sorry if my English is a little bad).
Don Lucero I’m not a musician myself and don’t know a lot, but learning. But what about Liam’s today’s voice? He can sing oviously and I enjoy his live performances, but he is still a tenor? His vocal range clearly narrowed.
What a lot of people dont realise about singing is how hard the 'ee' sound is to sing, especially at higher pitches. Brilliant voice, shame about its decline
Loving this new one - shades of Lennon goo.gl/UhVoYD - his voice has changed with age but the boy's still got it and he is not hiding behind easy to sing songs like Married With Children. Applaud his effort and hard work this year.
