When I first lived in Japan, I never liked bugs (still don't). But my Japanese colleague told me cicadas spend their whole life underground and only surface in summer where they live for a week or two. It's kinda bittersweet and hence somewhat changed my dislike towards them.❤
I am truly thankfull for the youtube algorithms, it got me to you! I have been watching a lot of your posts, i truly loved this trip to japan (thanks for taking me with you) especially the plant shops video! You give me so much calm. And yes I have plants also, lots of orquids, succulents, a monstera, a philadendrum pink princess and thats it, lol. I also love to shop for unique pots for my plants. I live in lima, peru. Hope Cris is better!
Saw plant shops in Japan video. Love how they display them. Beautiful shops!💚🌱 Sorry to hear you felt unwell Chris. Get better soon. Miss you in the videos of late
Regarding Gotokuji temple, the person at the temple told me that people would buy the cat and make a wish. When your wish comes true, then you would return the statue to the temple. 😊
I clocked the Soranoiro plate near the very beginning of this vlog. I had an excellent carrot broth based vegan ramen there and I highly recommend it. I felt full but really lovely and light afterwards. The staff were very friendly and kind and fascinated to know more about how two foreigners had marked their ramen joint as a 'destination' on their travel itinerary (as opposed to stumbling upon it purely by circumstance). The other one in Tokyo Station is of course, T's Tan Tan. That one's very good too, if you're going for vegan ramen-- their roasted sesame style one is great too. For chicken-based ramen broth I most highly recommend Ginza Kagari Honten, which is down a dark little alley way in Ginza, easy to walk past the alley entirely and not even realise what's down there. There are also loads of Halal ramen joints, with one of the best ramen places in Tokyo being Halal, so truly everybody can eat well in Japan. If you have dietary restrictions you REALLY need to do research before heading over, dropping pins all over your google map so you'll never be caught in a certain Ward, starving and clueless about where to find halal or vegan food. May I recommend Tabelog as opposed to tripadvisor, google or yelp. Tabelog is the domestic version of the above's food reviewing sites and I don't know about anybody else, but I'd take a local's verdict before a foreigners any day (with the dietary restriction recommendations finding an exception). Great vlog Benji, thank you!
🚫🦟🦟🦟 In the future when you know you’re going to be somewhere with a lot of mosquitoes- start taking a double or triple dose “B” complex tab a couple of days before + thru the trip! I’ve rarely gotten bitten since I started doing this, actually I’ve just continued to take a daily “B” complex vitamin daily + never have a problem! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
What a lovely vlog! Coincidentally I’m currently on my own two week trip in Japan and highly recommend staying in Nara for at least a few days- lots of amazing historic sites in town, plus this is where the famous deer are, and it is within spitting distance of Uji, the “matcha capital of Japan”, which makes not only for a tasty day trip, but it also has the oldest tea shop in the world and other amazing things to see! Hope Chris is better now!
Looks like a exciting time. I would love to travel to Japan one day. Try rubbing liquid soap on the bites. It stops the itch and dries them out. I do this when camping.
I just came from japan and It was my first time as well last July, the sun was scorching hot! I wish to go back hopefully during the Sakura season. Happy Birthday Chris I hope he’s ok now, How i wish i ran into you guys there in japan i will definitely take a picture with you, I’m such a fan 🥰
It was cool to watch how you guys explored Japan, to see your reactions and how you spent your time. I lived there two years and returned for a week or so some years later, but I'll be damned if it isn't a magnet cause I really want to visit again.
The worlds colliding moment when Gravity was on your trip 🙃😂 planning to go to Japan next year, so if I watch these videos a suspicious amount of times, it’s excitement for my trip 😅
Poor Chris! I hope he’s feeling better! You visited Japan just as their covid surge started, maybe chris caught covid? Traveling is such a high risk activity, esp if masking isn’t utilized. If it is covid, I hope Chris keeps resting as that is vital! Sending good wishes his way!
Aww thank U Benji for sharing your beautiful Japan visit....loved all the plant shops U visited, I was hoping u would of visited some of the architectural bldgs, maybe next time. *FYI, to stop the itching of mosquito or spider bits use Hand Sanitizer. Works for me 🤭 & seems the bugs & spiders come looking for me 😆 Thank U again🎋 Rosie of California
