SO glad to hear MJ again on this, 'Right back to it' was already one of my favourite tracks of 2024 so far, his and Katie's voices work so well together!
Such pain in that beautiful voice. I was born & raised on Uncle Dave Macon's land 100yrs to the day of Uncle Dave Macon hisself. Watched & listened to my grandad pick & sing our people's music, Bluegrass, on his old Gibson mandolin. I'm sorry for the sins I made while my people's land & music got defiled in what's called Music City. Now I'm back & wiser for it and Waxahatchee gives me music I feel I do not deserve and I praise God for her.
There are countless subtleties at work in this track. As someone else mentioned, it demands to be heard repeatedly yet remains elusive. Even the cadence is haunting. The melody evokes my youth and how much of it was squandered. I hail from a cozy place and when that siren blew, it rang out all over town.
this album is a 'grower'. what is different about her songs to other pop is that I often don't 'get' them first listen. by the third time, starts to click into place... then suddenly I realise I've played it 10 times... most hits make sense first play then get very stale to the point of un-bearability
Making the wrong deals, seeing and not seeing, mournful lament and yet the glimmer of hope ( sigh ) What is the breath of life? What is the way out of the matrix of deceptions ? Who will deliver us from ourselves ?
Attention!: Country has become the new punk or perhaps punks has become the new country. Do with these facts what you will but don't deprive yourself the opportunity to rebel in the comfort of your own holler.
The choir at the end made me audibly gasp. This album is amazing.

The whole album is unbelievable, and then ends with this …. Wow.
I'm seriously addicted to this song after seeing it performed live.

This is my favourite song on the album. Nobody understands a complicated relationship like Katie.
“Spellbinding copperheads banging a tambourine.” is such a great fucking lyric
I was just thinking this 🔥
Quit making me get tears in my eyes. Damn it.. ❤
Absolutely incredible song. One of, if not the best on the album; which is saying something because the album is top to bottom incredible.
This song is fantastic for sure
Blow me away... knock my socks off... shiver me timbers... Waxahatchee rides again!
