- Newly painted and pristine CSX 7422 and 7423 test into the Sunset on September 18, 2024. They trucks however seem to have a little difficulty on their first runs! #csx #csxt #wabtec #test #trending #new #train #railfanning #sunset
That sure was sweet! Must be those all new self-steering trucks! Lol... (Dave).
I have seen that before but not so visible like here.
Fantastic video. I had fun watching this pair make 5 or 6 passes at Walbridge until about 9:30pm tonight. I heard the K5H twice from home and raced over to hear it in person. It's surprising that 7422 ended up with CSX 126's K5H horn. CSX 126 (also in for rebuilding) originally had this K5H with the same very rare backwards mounting with the 1, 3, and 5 bells reversed instead of the traditional 2 and 4 bells reversed. At 4:48 you can see the 2 and 4 bells facing forward. This gives the K5H a noticeably lower tone as it approaches since the 2 bell is dominant. If you look up other videos of CSX 126 you will see that the sound is a match. It makes me wonder if they used the entire hood section from 126 on the 7422 rebuild even though the core was from CSX 549. I have been waiting to see which rebuild this K5H ended up on and it's great that it lives on.
@@StephenWeckstrom They have been really mixing up the parts on these units so I would'nt be suprised
0:34 I feel like that it sounds like a K5H type of horn, cuz like I was expecting it to sound like a K5LA
Getting CNW vibes already
cuz it is a K5H
Likely 126's K5H, but of course the #1 is dead
@@thedwaynerailfans dang, I never knew that until rn lol
@@CSX500 of course the 1, is dead :/
Very nice and impressive well done 😮😊
Thank you!
Looks to be GE's radial truck design in fresh paint. Those been around for years. They ride better around curves in the rail.
Wow cool.
7423's K5LA(?) sounds a little quiet..
@@MSRTA_Productions It is possibly plugged. Occasionally it happens. Sometimes from painting.
It's nice to see a fresh batch of rebuilt CM44AHs!👍🤩
Tell me, how much time does it take on average to rebuild one locomotive?
Could be as little as a month or as long as 6 months depending on the work. Some units needed less work some needed extensive work.
Wow, awesome catches of those FRESH REBUILDS! Have a great day.
You as well.
Any update on the Wabtec P40? I'm thinking the project was probably shelved.
@@amtk821 Still by building 26 so it seems like they still need it.
I wonder what the progress is on the other CM44s
@@999-98 more are arriving now.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks For Watching!
Can you say anything more about the difficulty with the trucks? Is it something one can see or hear in the video? I don't know what to look or listen for. Thanks much.
@@maremma14 a lot of shaking in one and a loose part hanging on another.
start at 4:01, look at the arms in the middle of each truck.
