      @Red Pill prime Mmmmmm! Maybe...
Yet the prospect of the HOT-WAR is already lost (300 years ago)....
US deployment is in fear of the chinese - the PROXY WAR in years to come - Africans need to mature both Politically and Intellectually and the best arena to navigate this STEEP learning curve is to COME TOGETHER !!
      P.S.
The US (and other Caucasian forces) would not deploy FOOT-SOLDIERS in pursuit of occupying Africans, NAH!!
They would decimate Africans utilising Viruses, Disease and Pestilence....

@Red Pill prime if i don't know WARFARE then, you don't know CRITICAL or STRATEGIC THINKING......!!
Aren't you the same dude who thought it was a good idea to buy / trade for Arms with Russia ??
Clearly, it is YOU that needs to MATURE both Politically and Intellectually....
      P.S.
Racism is systematic and not a card pulled because you lack the faculty in the exchange of ideas....
We can agree to disagree however, your response "triggered" by facts is nothing less than Puerile...
The video attests to visions and Blueprints set out since the 1950's (by the Garvey-Ite, Dr Nkrumah) and only NOW, after nearly 70 years it seems, traction is being gained on ideas.....
I shall make it simpler for you.....!!
1: There are no weapons an African can get hold of that will supersede the Western Military Machine, unless developed by AFRICANS THEMSELVES !
2: The acquisition / development / customization of such weapons will provoke the SELLOUTS within Africa against their own (there is untold precedent to this) !
3: The preferred method of War to colonize/ neutralize the Africans (by whatever OUTSIDE FORCE) will be by disease and specially adapted viruses - EBOLA was deployed to TEST the African resolve and the capacity of Western Civilisation to respond to CONTAGION !!
To conclude, rather than give money to the Ruskies so Africans can kill OTHER Africans in even more BARBARIC (and evidently ELF-LOATHING) ways, Africans should prepare facilities at home to STUMP the BRAIN-DRAIN of SCIENTISTS and ENGINEERS - COUNTLESS "CREATIVES & GENIUS'S" to be discovered NOW, in Africa !!
Opportunity to arm (on WAKANDAN-LEVELS) will occur HOLISTICALLY, as a natural by-product of innovative success and scientific ACCOMPLISHMENT - The path to gaining RESPECT in the world...!!
Now let me see you respond with "Mmmm', that makes sense...."
I appeal to your good reason:
      Rest assured, My perspective is
      TOO BLACK !
      TOO STRONG !!

@Culture Freedom Hello.😊Based upon negative historical factors and the one-sided narrative that exists around African trade, it is understandable why one would be skeptical and even pose the question as to what, if any, benefits will the ACFTA produce in Africa? But by visiting the website below, one can get a comprehensive look at the variety of commodities that countries in Africa export to the U.S. therefore getting a better understanding of what the real possibility of inter-continental trade in Africa could look like. And, if we expand our search and look at African trade with other global regions outside the U.S., I'm quite sure we will get an even greater understanding of the measurable outcomes that African governments hope to gain by creating this ambitious inter-continental trade agreement. ustr.gov/countries-regions/africa

This is by far the most intelligent and analytical RUclips channel on African issues.
Same questions I have always asked myself... With the exception of South Africa, Nigeria and Morocco, what do African countries produce other than raw materials that is making the clueless leaders push for a free trade market so soon? Is it to freely export criminals across African borders?
This AfCFTA is nothing but the work of China that seeks to choke clueless African leaders with debt on sea or airports they don't need, take over those ports and use same to flood other African countries with Chinese products duty-free. But then, what can one expect from African leaders who accepted a Greek AU headquarters gift from China and are being spied on during AU meetings?
As a Nigerian, we haven't even fulfilled local demand for goods nor maximised export of goods in free Ecowas market, and now we're joining free trade with the rest of Africa despite the issues of porous borders? I am against us joining this Chinese-induced AfCFTA else Nigeria as a huge market will become a dumping ground for Chinese or European goods.

You don't speak and sound as Africa to me! No human being was born and begin to walk and run! A human child grows up in stages. He has to understand that fire burns. Has to learn that seating doesn't come without falling so is walking does not come without falling hard, let alone running. You don't fall and remain flat on the ground, the child does not remain down there, he gets up until he is strong to run a marathon. We did not know that one day Africa will be free politically from colonial rule. But our fathers had a vision, they knew that they can rule themselves. We are ruling ourselves politically though not fully! This is the same with economic freedom of this great continent! It won't be easy as nothing comes easy, as we take examples from a child. Africa is not running yet! She is walking. But very soon she will run a great marathon in which no one will compete with her.
Who can run as faster as her on a world platform where Olympics are concerned? is it not children of mother Africa? I can only imagine how she will take on on economic arena. Have faith my brother your Africa will reach where she belongs. "SHE IS THE LEADER" The mother of all humanity. Never mind She will be there. Corrupt leaders must be removed from positions of leadership. Africa will rise.

Africa would’ve fallen apart if we did it so long ago.
We are not ready to mimic the EU. Remember how many rebellions and wars were happening in Africa 5 decades ago? There were wars happening in most African countries. If we mimicked the EU and went full on free trade we would’ve seen catastrophe endue for Africa.
We can’t simply learn in the go as many people want. Some people say, let’s start Africa free trade right now, we’ll learn and make it work on the go. If we do that we’d hurt so many people’s lives. Remember The USSR? The USSR implemented full on communism without putting much thought into it. It sounded nice on paper so they said let’s do it, we’ll learn on the go. It’s because of that so many tens of millions of people died in the USSR and it eventually collapsed. Remember Somalia? They implemented full on Lassez faire capitalism saying they’d learn on the go. It’s because of that they suffered so greatly.
The EU was thought out for a long time before they decided to make it happen. The brightest minds in the AU say this is a bad idea and it is. They studied economics. Most people that want this Africa free trade are those who aren’t economists. We weren’t ready then and we aren’t ready now for Africa free trade.
We are many many decades or even a century away from a united Africa(don’t forget Africa is a continent and there isn’t a single continent in the world that’s united. Not even all European countries are part of EU)

When Africa can build itself democratically and economically more Africans from Diaspora worldwide will have a REASON to come home and support a system like this economically because there will be a natural and relational benefit to do so. Many from Diaspora want to come home but have nothing to return to so we are forced to live in other countries for economic benefits! If China can change its economic course in only 30 years and build the greatest cities the world has ever seen in modern times, Africa can achieve this also. The job lies essentially upon the shoulders of the African Union - who need to be firm in the implementation of the guidelines that all members of the 55 countries should abide to the agreement. First things to be done is to implement an African Union Passport to end with the joke of having visas to travel inter-Africa which was left by the former colonial rulers that must still be laughing that after 50 years the bureaucracy still exists and continues damaging the development of Mother Africa! It is High Time to wake up and mainly for the politicians to be made accountable for the continuous mistakes and greed that negates Africa to rise to its might! Once good measures are taken to effect the Africans that are living abroad and were looked down by the politicians that took over governance after independence will start returning with the knowledge and expertise that they gained abroad. This is one reason to praise Ghana's president who has become the pioneer to encourage the return of people of the various diasporas. The governments of all African countries have to be encouraged by the African Union to implement TV programs to make their citizens aware to join hands and forget about going abroad, to be killed in the Mediterranean, as it is happening every day.We need to fight to lift our MOTHERLAND to become THE CONTINENT OF THE FUTURE and that can only happen if the politicians throw away their allegiances with their cronies and to really start making a reality the promises that they make before being elected! To be strong African must look inside instead of looking out with opens hands begging for alms!!!

Most of what was said in this video I agree with.
The notion that it is easier for an outsider to enter our borders than it is for a neighbor speaks to a deeper issue of us hating our own image while worshipping the image of the other. Africans by far still have self-hate issues that need to be addressed before we can ever see each other as more deserving of prosperity than those who loot us.
The only thing I don't agree with is the idea of the "U.S. of Africa." The continent is too big and too ethnically diverse for a single government to ever work. I think removing VISA requirements and implementing regional currencies (ECOWAS, EAC, COMESA, SADC, etc) is a great place to start. But we can love and work with each other without becoming a single country.

I think its unfair to put Aliko Dangote in the gategory of a government backed monopoly. Dangote has worked extremely hard for his success and his company has benefitted Africa in so many ways. The reason why he monopolizes the market is because he has little or no competition and he's the best at what he does. And furthermore why did you have to mention the obstacles of the free trade agreement - I'm sure everyone is aware of the numerous barries that stand in the way of its success. However, why is it that your news outlet and so many others have to keep reminding us about Africa's past and the possibility of its future failures. When it comes to reporting on Africa, it never fails that the negative is always highlighted, even when the gist of the story is positive!! Neutrality is one thing, but skepticism and constant and consistent critical analysis is another all together. #AfricaIsMovingForward #GiveHerAChance #AfricaRocks #UrbanAfrica

A union of nations is a double edged sword, not to dissuade the benefits of such a union, one must understand that sharing the benefits of each nation also mean the sharing of each other's problems. South Africa is struggling with violence against African immigrants by the local black populations, this issue will likely spread across all of Africa if a union was declared.

A United Africa strikes me as ideal for the further development of African nations; I'm thrilled by this motion and excited to see what coming together in this fashion can accomplish in improving the continent's industry, economy, and quality of life, overall.
There is certainly great potential here to place Africa in a significantly strengthened position on many fronts, and permanently. While I don't know whether cutting off external trade would be particularly beneficial, I certainly do believe in extending attentions and placing greater focus inward. Encouraging continent-wide exchange for investment, migration, and growth could quickly see Africa attain significant economic resurgence in the next few years. Greater initiatives could be launched from within, to address outstanding needs, modernise infrastructure, strengthen policing and justice systems, and further the development of every nation, continent-wide.
Given the vast breadth of currencies used across Africa and the great variation of worth between them, the concept of a united currency certainly needs to be explored. Would nations need to consolidate and absorb each others debts to introduce this change? In any case, streamlining to have fewer currencies in circulation I believe would be a great step forward, introducing a centralised bank and mint could standardise and sustain monetary value across a greater portion of the continent, leading to greater economic stability.
A United Africa, a united African government could better develop its industries and technologies. The jobs that would be created, the lives this could enhance, the liberty this could afford and the justice this could serve has outstanding potential, especially for that of a Continental Identity; a shared feeling of togetherness that greater unifies African nations through the fostering of robust internal networks of progressive and compassionate organisation.
This initiative could be the start of the greatest and best reforms in African history.

Free trade sounds good but there should still be more than one currency in Africa. Each country should also be self governing, not having the whole of Africa being ruled by just one person. Africa should not be like the US with one president, or like the EU with the fairly weak euro as its currency. Here in the UK, sterling is worth more than the euro and most of us are glad that we did not give up our currency. Here, the EU has become far too dominant and we are are now expected to obey laws that were not made in our own country. This is why more than half the UK voted for Brexit. A number of other European countries are also dissatisfied with the EU as one big superstate, dictating from Brussels. Individual countries should not give up their national identities, customs and culture. Borders can also be useful to protect people that are fleeing from some sort of persecution. A refugee or a victim of crime can be protected from harm if they flee to another country with different laws.

Africa's youth should be given more political leadership roles as it seems the elders do not want to move over and let the creativity of the youth help shape the future. The more things change - the more they stay the same. I worked on a project to deregulate the rail system of Malawi (this was part of greater pan African rail program to improve trade). As it turns out, a newly independent Malawi never got around to nationalising and/or 'socialising' their infrastructure. Their existing law dated back to the days when Cecil John Rhodes. He convinced the, then, socialised UK to experiment with setting laws to allow private sector ownership of the railways. He had a dream to build the Cape-to-Cairo railway line connecting all of Africa on route. For this dream to work, he influence the base legislation of the British colonies along the route to be structured to allow, not only freedom of movement and trade, but also ownership. Decolonisation resulted in a socialist Pan African movement and a change in African laws through out much of Africa. But for some reason Malawi never got around to making those changes and we were given an opportunity to see the past. As it turns out, we had no work to do in Malawi as it was all perfect as is. Hhhhmmm

As a European, I think it's good to decouple African currencies from the Euro. But, I think Africans should be aware of the problems of a single currency. Don't make the mistakes that we Europeans have done. The euro has real structural problems. Countries within the eurozone, because they have different economies can't implement their own monetary policies to sort out their problems (hence Greece, Italy etc..) If your economies are similar, this single currency might deliver massive benefits. But it could also spell disaster trying to compete with more powerful economies like Nigeria. Also what I believe Africans should learn about is MMT, Modern Monetary Theory. If this theory is correct (and I believe this to be so), linking up your currencies, would mean you are giving up your monetary sovereignity and your ability to print/issue your own currencies which would limit your countries future. BE AWARE AFRICA!!!

So why isn't that some of this same European countries and formal colonial masters are preventing Africans to have the same system? All borders in Africa needs to be brought down, 1 Africa, 1 people, Africa for Africans home and abroad

  • @erickentroller4132

If anything, I think the development of an industrialized base should be Africa's number one goal. As pointed out, Africa is trading it's raw goods to the rest of the world for some money, but misses out on the large money of the end product. A phone, petrol, a TV, satellites, vehicles, etc etc. I think Africa needs to be the producer of these kinds of goods. They would have control of the resources and be able to make it cheaper than anywhere else in the world. Africa could be the richest, most prosperous, continent on the planet. I think the African Union is a step in the right direction for this, but before a more open boarders version of it exists, like what we see in Europe, the development needs to be spread more evenly. That will be hard since it'll take a lot of investment from the richer African nations into the poorer ones. I think it can be done though. I hope so.

Otherwise, some countries with bad infrastructure will suffer greatly as businesses will site their plants in countries with good infrastructure and yet sell to all for maximum profit making. Making the countries with poor infrastructure a mere dumping ground. Any country with good industrial capacity will benefit a lot. BUt how many of such exist in Africa today, except South Africa and Ruwanda. Look at the level of profit MTN is making in NIgeria for example.

I think the drive for more common markets is a good idea and noble endeavor, but not for the whole of Africa under one roof at least for now. Instead regional markets for the current state of Africa's economic and political development. I will admit my knowledge on modern Africa is lacking compared to knowledge on other places in the world but I would personally divide it along the following lines. North Africa along the Mediterranean and connected nations, East Africa around Ethiopia etc, West Africa along the ivory coast, Central Africa along the congo and surrounding area, and South Africa along well South Africa and its neighbors. This, of course, would require steps to be made so that major economic powers act as a guiding force instead of a dominating one so that such a market is part of a greater good for all instead of improvement for some.
