Many skaters like to beat each other over the head with the brand support/jump ratings, I'm glad you mentioned skater body weight because that's really what it comes down to. Those brand boot support ratings are non standard and differ across all brands. I fully believe this is intended to be the brands guide for parents whos small kids to teens are skating, and become completely arbitrary once you're an adult. As long as you can get enough ankle bend in the boots balanced with ankle support, as long as they don't cause you any foot pain, and are within your budget then you can consider them for purchase

I got fitted before I started group classes. I had only skated once in rentals, and i knew I would never do that again. Unfortunately, I had to use rentals while in Montreal in March, and after that, absolutely never again (for real this time), lol. Disgusted feelings aside, the edges were non-existent. 40 minutes of wondering if I was going to make it out alive 😂. My skates weren't cheap, though by comparison to what more experience skaters buy, 350 was a steal. I would never sell my pair once they break down because one, they were heat molded, and two, I wouldn't want anyone to break a leg. That whole "Americans go through skates faster" is true, but that's because we are breaking them down faster. I got the Jackson Elle, and they are great for me, so I will go for Jackson's once I move to more advanced moves. The break-in period was long, but it's definitely because I was an absolute beginner, so I didn't know how to break them in fast. True beginners should keep in mind that regardless of the boot you get, you won't break them in fast. The Jackson Elle, thankfully for me, were very comfortable thanks to the fact my technician knew what he was doing so I was never in pain.
I have been struggling breaking in my mystiques, my instructor told me to unlace the top lace so I can bend and that actually was a miracle but how am I supposed to know when to lace the top up fully ? I have probably skate like 6 hours in them so far and I tried to lace them all the way up and I freaked out bc it was so hard
Rentals are the worst. I dont even know how I managed to skate in them when I was younger. When I tried them for the first time as an adult - 30 minutes of skating were enough to give me 2 days of feet pain. One question: Did you get your rockerz guards from this website? Usually rockerz already arrive fully assembled so they ask you about your blade size, model etc. On this website however it seems to me that it is just shipped in pieces and I'm not sure that purchasing 1 item of the rockerz would give you a full pair because you can only choose 2 colors.
I was given Jackson Elle's by a fitter because I have too wide a foot for anything else. They're fine for now but I definitely wouldn't trust them to support my fat butt even on single jumps so I'll probably have to upgrade in the near future. Lol

I see that there is that option of getting them sharpened by them before they send it for delivery. I think it is a good option but is the sharpening that they do any good? I don't want to get my new blades ruined.
Yes, I had them already sharpened from them. You won’t get them ruined, but I had to sharpen them again pretty quickly. And from what I understood from the professional they did not sharpen them properly. I would sharpen them with someone you trust… not because the blades will get ruined, but to save money and be able to skate properly from the begining😄

@@csicsi45 they mounted mine just fine💗 But, they do not put in all the screws. I had to screw in the others at the professional I get them sharpened to as well. They didnt mount them badly, I just had to add the last screws to have them better secured.🤷🏻♀️
@@csicsi45 from what I recall, mounting is free. You can opt for it if you want, but it is free of charge unlike sharpening. I think it is more for them to be usable immediately. I could skate with them like that for a few months so it didn’t bother me that it didn’t have all the screws in. But, if you choose them to be already mounted, you will not get the original edea box. Because they do not fit, or at least that is what I suppose. I got them in some pouches. Another important thing, is that if you order them already mounted and they don’t fit or you don’t like them they can not be returned. At least that was an issue I encountered.
Hii! I’m sadly in the same situation as you since I skate at the same rink 😔. I want to get Edea overture skates as well but I’m scared I’ll mess up the sizing ( as I did with my first skates ), so I was wondering if your Edea skates are bigger/ smaller in size than your regular shoe size? Tysm!
Hi! So Edea sizes are not the same as regular shoe size. For example one Edea size can be 245 which actually means 24.5 cm long. Also the boot size should be 5-10mm longer than your actual foot measurement. So if your foot is exactly 24.5 cm long you would most likely need to get a 250 size Edea skate or even bigger. Your feet are also slightly different in length so you need to guide yourself after the longer foot. I buy my shoes rather loose so it is not very helpful to tell you if my skates are bigger really. They actually feel tighter than most of my shoes - but again I prefer looser shoes. My shoe size is 38 EU (7.5 US size or 5 UK size). My feet length are 24.2cm left and 24.5 cm the right one. And my edea size is 250, which at first felt a bit to tight but finally loosened up and feel great now. So you see it depends grately on your feet and preference🤷🏽♀️ Hope this helps you a bit🥰 better to ask the shop you buy from via mai Also than you for watching💗
hi best thing to do is get fitted as edea might not be best suited to your feet and another brand might fit you better. i know it’s tempting but trust me i’ve been there and i could’ve save so much money if i had just gotten fitted from the beginning
@@nora_cr no problemm! if you can’t get fitted in person you can even do an online fitting. i’m in the uk and i know a shop called everglides does a virtual fitting. but it’s worth it to travel to a pro shop, i travel 4 hours to go everglides they are probably the best in the UK. you can look online on skating forums on where the best fitter near you is or where to do a virtual fitting.
@@aimeetea_ I wear gel heel bumpers and thick socks to try to take up space but i guess despite being fitted the heel is just bigger than my actual heel I guess? I tie the laces so tight but still my foot like lifts in the boot instead of with the boot and it throws my balance off or it makes me slip forward and my toes smash into the front and force me on the toe pick
I see.. you foot shouldn’t slide in the boot at all. You should be able to wiggle your toes quite a bit, but sliding around is definitely going to mess around with your balance. If tying them tighter doesn’t make a difference, I think you should size down … best to talk to a professional fitter so you can really get some skates in which you feel comfortable and are able to have fun while skating
@@aimeetea_ I had the same thought about sizing down so I did actually go to another fitter at my rink and they said that my foot is where it’s supposed to be with my toes so a half size down would be too small :c
I am so sorry - i think it is very frustrating. Maybe trying a different brand. From what I read when I got mine, I remember that some said that Edea was designed to fit narrow heels better. Maybe try some on at the store😅
just wanna say a few things 1. i know it can be tempting to order skates online but please do not do this unless you do a virtual fitting or speak to a professional. however if you can go to get fitted that is the best option. 2. jackson elle would not get you through singles if you are an adult skater jackson does not recommended you jump in their skate outfits (boot and blade packages) unless you are less than 80lbs. i ordered skates online following recommendations online and it was horror. i wasted 120£ and had to travel 4 hours to get fitted and got my first pair of skates. like i said before if you can’t get fitted you can do a virtual fitting which is much better than ordering online without an expert.
Hi! Thank you for your comment. I read about what you said regarding virtual fitting and I regret I didn’t think about saying that in the video. I knew about the option at the time I wanted to buy my skates, but for me, the price was quite high. I know it seems contra-intuitive since I might have lost more money if I got skates that didn’t fit me. But sending my measurement via e-mail directly to the shop and getting their recommendation was enough to keep my mind at ease that I got skates that fit me. But, I think, an online fitting, if you afford it, is the closest to real life fitting. But I am wondering how is the online fitting different from sending my measurements and talking to the professionals there as I did? I mean, they assessed my measurement carefully. I am pretty sure you can also ask them if you are thinking about having arch issues or any other concerns. Many places do virtual fittings where you pay but the money goes towards buying the skates, so it is unfortunate that wasn't the case for you. I do think that it is worth it to spend a little more money to get the right fit since skates are an investment, but I know that is not an option for everyone. However an online fitting and even more so sending measurements should really be a last resort. Myself and many others travel hours to ensure we get the right fit, something that is even more important as you level up, as brands don't always have the same fit for all their models. An online fitting offers a more comprehensive and detailed experience involving not just measurements but many, many pictures, videos and in depth discussion of your feet, skating style, skating level, ambitions and budget. Also a reputable fitter would have more than just two brands to choose from. I am glad that it worked out for you but it really isn't advisable to do this. Also you said many things in the video that can be dangerous since you are not actually a professional or as experienced. Like jackson elles cannot get you through singles, it can only get you through half rotation jumps if you are 20-40kg. Similar to the risport venus and antares. A lot more goes into the correct fit than just the measurements and skating level alone. Skating style, foot and ankle strength, goals, how frequently you skate and so much more. I hope this helps explain a bit more!

The Jackson freestyle is pretty common for adult beginner figure skaters and can do single jumps.
