Too bad there was no sound, but what a video! The 38 was originally a Weyerhauser engine built new in 1934 for their line out of Klamath Falls. I hauled about a million loads of logs over her old railroad grades in the 80's and 90's. She's sitting in pieces on a siding just off the UP mainline in Merrill, Oregon. God, what a beautiful engine!

I enjoyed this thoroughly. Seeing the NCL climb Homestake, seeing the action at Billings and the ride on the CBQ into Wind River Canyon was amazing.

They look like they are mostly moving at top speed for Shay type locos. Love it.

My bad, I can see some of these a bit better, not a shay type.

Any possibility of obtaining a hard copy or 2? This would be a great exhibit at the Polson Museum

I know how much my dad complained of the high cost of 8mm film. Someone really loved filming these operations. Maybe for the company?

Yes. My Dad loved filming the last years of steam operations in the Pacific Northwest and where he lived here on Vancouver Island. A long time technician with BC Tel, this was strictly a hobby.
