Great stuff! Met Cozy round the back of Newcastle City Hall on Sabbaths Headless Cross tour in 89 i'll never forget it, music is totally SHIT now sadly, i cannot see another Cozy or Ritchie coming up at all
Cozy is my all time favorite Drummer. He has played with the best. I also love Graham, but this is by far not the best lineup. The rainbow 🌈 rising lineup is one of the best Rainbow lineups in history. The live, and Long Live Rock, and Roll was the second. I would put this at 3rd since there are some kick as song on this album. Eyes of the World, Loves no Friend, and Lost in Hollywood. The commercial songs Richie was going for ruined the band. Once Joe Lynn turner came along they were spent. Now when Cozy went to White Snake, and Sabbath he was back on track.
In hindsight I think the strongest line-up Rainbow ever had was Blackmore, Dio, Powell, Jimmy Bain, Tony Carey, i.e. the Rainbow Rising lineup. Tony Carey definitively outplays every other Rainbow keyboard player on that album. After that I think Don Airey and David Stone is pretty equal in 2nd place.
I too am pleased a plaque has been put up for Cozy, he fucking damn well deserves it. Come on 21st century kids wake up and learn to be a new Cozy! I'm afraid X fucking fucktor, Facebook and computer shite will put an end to that, your loss kids!!!
+Gary Unsworth Unfortunately it's also our loss as listeners and fans. There are no bands / musicians / personalities coming up to replace this generation who were born 60 -70 years back. Just look at the Rising lineup - 3/5 of them no longer with us!
"No point touring england unless you got the band exactly the way you want it..." I guess the Rising line up was not up to it, then...? Amazing drummer, Cozy (RIP), but what a bunch of BS...
Indeed, but although musically the Rising lineup was superior (not to mention Tony Carey's excellent synths), Cozy probably also meant the band's inner dynamics. I think I read there were continues problems inside the band since Carey and others were continuously bullied by Blackmore & Powell, starting with innocent jokes and spoofs, turning ruder and ruder, on the road and in recording sessions.
Back when rockstars were on mainstream tv, the good old days.
Good to see this..Great to hear that a plaque in honour of Cozy was unveiled in his home town of Cirencester today : )
Cozy was great. I miss him.
Two LEGENDS! Cozy affirming this line would hold on... then he was off to join Michael Schenker a few months later.
Just been listening to MSG, one night at Budokan - great album
and CP on top form
Airey is barely 18 in this 1979 interwiew although he was born in 1948.
Don airey really never changes
First time I see Don as a young man. What a handsome boy. :D

Blackmore, Dio, Cozy, Daisley and Stone was the best line up
Joe Lynn Turner ✓ Graham Bonnet X
They didnt even know that they were the last rock musicians rock will ever produced.
no idea why RB didn't keep this line up
whatever you do though dont use clicky fucking bass drums
Cozy "I think this is strongest line-up Rainbow ever had."
A line up of RJD, Ritchie Blackmore, Roger Glover, Don Airey and Cozy Powell.
Best lineup EVER

@@saralemirande3504 Cozy 😍
Graham Bonnet
@@saralemirande3504 Cozy preferred Graham every minute.
"This is the strongest lineup Rainbow has ever had" love your work, Cozy, but...I don't think so.
You mean Dio? I would agree!
Don the legend, about 30 years old here but looks like a 15 year old school lad...lol....didn't know Bill Gates played in Rainbow.,.... 🙂
Donny's Shirt almost looks like it says Ozzy on it! LOL
Probably WZZO t-shirt. Looks like the font and they played in Allentown in 1979.

Very eerie indeed.

@@patsonmusic yes rising is a great album but where is jimmy bains bass?
Dos grandes!
Don is one of my all-time fav keyboardists. Besides Brian Auger, Keith Emerson, Rick Wright, and Michael Keck.
Rick Wakeman
Two of my favorites!
Powell looks like Jeff Beck 🤣
To bad Cozy Powell hated since you be gone lol 😆 🙃
that stuff really saves me!
GooD🎉
Cozy, what a damn shame that you loved to drive with the pedal to the metal, RIP.
