Rampage by The Statesmen

1961 was a great year for rock 'n roll, coming after the down year of 1960 brought on by the powers that be (my opinion). The movement to discourage young people from listening to their favorite music had failed. The rock 'n roll movement was back and stronger than ever. Boise's Statesmen would record this hot instrumental and it immediately became popular locally. I don't believe it was ever played in Seattle -- at least I don't remember hearing it. And believe me, I would have remembered! I've always loved the instrumentals, and this is one of the best. Two minutes of sheer, unadulterated excitement. The Statesmen would never release another record, but would continue their career, often playing around the University of Idaho in Moscow through 1966. It's a shame that this great recording didn't get more exposure.
