I thought the same thing and bid on that same transceiver. I have a weakness/obsession now for Norcal radios after watching your videos on Wilderness Radios and building the 40B. Bruce, I've learned so much from your channel. Thank You!
Thanks that was pretty fun. I really wasn’t planning on working anybody but his signal was so good I had to. Did you notice that I first called him hooked to the 20M dipole? He heard me but faintly, then I switched to the 40M dipole with the tuner bypassed. That helped some, but finally switching to the dipole with the tuner adjusted he could copy pretty well. Practice on that a bit and give it a try. 73!
One night, I was at a public school fundraiser for something or another, and bid in a silent auction for a pellet BBQ for $400 (minimum bid). I thought for sure someone would at least bid $405. I went home with a great BBQ, but $400 lighter in my wallet. Great find on your part! 73, KB7QOD.
Glad you got something useful! I’ve heard good things about pellet stoves and bbqs. That reminds me of the hamfest “I’ll bid it up” that sent me home with a random pile of very weathered aluminum that used to be 6M yagi antennas… I still have never gotten on 6M haha
I think prices on these older QRP radios are coming down because they are effectively obsolete, especially with the newer QRP-Labs radios. Just my opinion, I still like the NORCAL, and K1. I restored a B&O stereo system. 40 years ago, that system would be the center piece and object of pride in a living room. Now it’s just a curiosity.
@@tyrueiIIs it possible, Bruce, for all these kits from days gone by, that one could reorder the boards and just send a parts list to Digikey to make a new one? I’m probably oversimplifying it in my head.

Nice Q with Kevin. I was actually able to follow most of it! Haha. CW skills coming along. 73.

Good! I can trade you one of my Norcal40A Wilderness for a 30m version 😂
I still need to get @nevmarr on a zoom call to get a video posted for his NorCal 30 conversion!
What a neat radio, awesome buy. No wonder I can't see them on ebay, you're just buying them up.. 😊
My total with shipping and tax was Total: $138.52. We can talk when I get it fixed if you are interested.

I can tell eBay seller has used fedex before! They like to damage the products that they are trusted with shipping! 🤬
Agree! That package was ready for the drop the egg off of the roof in a package competition!
